Mortal Online: The Awakening

Mortal Online has been progressing extremely well as of late and we're approaching some very exciting times.
A significant patch was released today fixing many bugs, improving overall graphics and lighting, as well as adding some cool new features such as enhancement.
Earlier today we've made some changes to our server software and, as a result, we are now able to handle large scale gatherings and battles of more than double the size of those previously without any server lag getting in the way. At this point, the server should never be a major factor in large scale battles.
We wanted to take this time to share with you another update on our new character and armor art. We're getting very near its release now; below you'll find a few screenshots of various materials to show off just how different each material you craft with can look.

Today we are releasing a very important patch that significantly improves the game performance, to better support large scale population and wars with excellent performance. Updates have been made in the capital city of Tindrem which has, in the past, lacked proper optimization which made clients struggle. It should now be an optimal starting location for all new players both in terms of performance and using a short and easy tutorial for all new players to easier get into the game mechanics. Lots of polish and bug fixing has been worked on in this patch.
We have also added the mount package which includes two totally new mount types; the old Molva Beast is back, and the new Lykiator that has been transported from the continent Urmothâr, Lykia. The Molva beast is a very strong and powerful mount that can grow to a very large beast using the right knowledge of how to control them. There are lots of different mount gears to buy and put on the Molva beasts such as the famous Tindremic-marked thick armor. The Molva is often used to knock down its opponents with an incredible force when you push the Molva into a “berserk” state. The Molva is usually the slowest in general run speeds of all the current mounts but it has the highest run burst speed.
The Lykiator is much more agile than both the horses and the Molva, they can climb in steeper angles in mountains, and they can jump very high. Their turn radius is swift and agile, but their main run speed is slightly lower than the traditional horse run speed. It holds natural body armor and there is no armor that can be put on the Lykiator other than saddles and eye blinders.
Both the Lykiator and the Molva beast starts out on a rather low creature control cost depending on its subspecies. There are 5 subspecies for both the Molva Beast and the Lykiator all with their unique appearance, stats and features. Depending on their subspecies, they can cost more creature control points. Experienced breeders can however mix these subspecies to find an optimized suitable mount as a result that cost less creature control. To achieve their pure strength if to be used as a weapon even greater creature control is required by learning their zoology skills. Not all specific subspecies stats can be mixed in a breed however, so to obtain the most powerful subspecies and highest level a tamer must obtain the correct skills to control them.
A new combat system and style has been introduced into the game: a truly unique way of fighting in an MMORPG on mounts using lance weapons. Crafters will be able to craft a new weapon type starting out with a traditional lance handle and a few different head types. A mounted lance fighter holds the lance out and will aim at the target and allow the mount to give the force and damage. The lance does real time traces against any surface in the world and will react as soon as it impacts, even if it’s the ground or a living creature. Due to huge force being used when the lance impacts, it does loose durability rather quickly. Crafters have to find a suitable combination of material and head types to find different use of a lance weapon. It may be focused into a full knock down of a mount, or simply to cut deep into the flesh with the aim of causing severe damage. Defenders may always try to block and avoid being knocked down by a mount and absorb the damage if perfectly blocked/parried. We rely on pure player skills when fighting as a mounted lance fighter just as any mounted combat.
Notice boards have been added to most cities. Here players can post their own notes and requests and orders for other players to read. A player only needs to buy a book, write something on a page and tear it out and put it on the board. Mortal Online has also received a slight face lift visually in lightning and color tone. It does lean a step closer to the old look and feel of earlier beta builds.
While we will continue to polish and remove bugs from the game, we are getting closer to having the character and armor content replaced next, which will both improve the graphics and performance.
As always, even though we do not make frequent public updates regarding cheats in Mortal Online this is always a very high priority for us to make sure cheaters will never be able to play the game and that there are no cheats that get away undetected. We recently expanded on our anti-cheat detection software to that which major companies, such as Blizzard, also use. This has already gone to good use as we have banned a few accounts using such software already. Cheating will never be accepted and it will always result in a permanently ban.

For those of you unfamiliar with mounts in Mortal Online, they're unlike mounts in the majority of other MMORPGs. Instead of using an item in your backpack and having a large animal suddenly appear, all mounts in Mortal Online, horses or otherwise, are persistent creatures tamed by players out in the world. They do not disappear when you dismount and they must be fed to maintain loyalty.
With the release of the Dawn expansion some time ago, we took this a step further with genetics. Now, all mounts in Nave are completely unique. Everything from their fur pattern to leg size, strength, intelligence and more is controlled by genetics. Each creature is a little different, but there have always been different breeds with different attributes found around the world. Sometimes a mutation would come in to separate the creature from its relatives around it.
With the Awakening expansion months ago, all creatures in the world, including your pets, grow over time unlocking new abilities and improved statistics.
As of just recently we've now given players the ability to breed horses they have tamed or purchased from another player tamer. By breeding a male and female horse, for example, the offspring will take characteristics from each of its parents. Through time you are able to breed out the poor properties and create more excellent breeds of animals, whether you chose to target optimal performance or maybe something that simply looks nice.

Upon requests from the community, Star Vault added a donation system (much like Kickstarter) providing in-game perks to donors. One hundred percent of these donation funds go directly into development by outsourcing. This allows us to develop more content that we otherwise wouldn't see so soon.
Our next donation goal is by far the largest yet. We're going to rebuild character art, armor art as well as entire systems.
Rebuilding the character system means a lot of important improvements for Mortal Online.
- Much better looking player characters (rebuild of all races and genders).
- Better looking character face customization; more support for scars, tattoos etc.
- Rebuild of all armor meshes/materials/shaders parts making them look much better.
- Allowing us to add more and new armor parts in the game.
- Almost all resource material gets its real and unique look.
- Much better control over the dye system.
- Better performance on player characters, no more 1-2s freeze lags when loading a bunch of players.
- Removal of the texture merges system which means a big memory optimization on the client and
- better overall performance.
- More players on the screen will not add cost on the client as it did in the old system.
- A full new armor set will be included in this package; new types will arrive in the future now since the new system will allow it.

All through out the land a message is heard. The criers of each town buzzing with news from the Emperor.
Hear ye! Hear ye! The Emperor hath decreed! He seeks the capture of a fish rumored to have been discovered in the waters near his shores. A fish said to not only to resemble that of a tiny dragon, but also to possess special properties when cooked. He who captures such a creature, will be greatly rewarded!
The Emperor will reward the first who captures said creature with a prestigious title and other possible wealth! Any and all are encouraged to aid the Empire in this effort. Newcomers and seasoned Warriors alike!
It is also a very hot commodity within the market place. Vendors may pay a good price for such a rare creature. It is also rumored that Butchers all through out the land seek them for their meat and scales.
New In game events:
"A Rare Catch" Event
A new kind of rare fish can now be found while fishing. It resembles that of a tiny dragon. A title will be granted to the first who fishes up said creature. That's right folks! This is a server first reward! Be the first to catch the rare fish, and you will be rewarded with a title that no one else will be able to obtain. This event will be an ongoing event that will last for as long as the title is obtainable. Anyone is able to participate in this event. Both Free to play and premium accounts are eligible.
"The Biggest Catch" Weekend Event
Starting February 16th up until February 17th, We will be hosting fishing events in Mortal Online. We will make an announcement via the Town Crier just before the event begins. Participants will have the opportunity to qualify in four separate categories.
1. Biggest catch in one go during the time allotted
2. Most species during the time.
3. Most fish in total during time.
4. fastest to reach the specific spicies: ( Trudis, Laake, and Red Squilla ).
Each event will last up to an hour. Fish must be caught during the event in order to be eligible.
Players must register for event few minutes prior to the start of the event. Participants must attend with an empty inventory. Equipment will be provided for you at the event. During the event if more equipment is needed, seek the Event Registrar (Game Master). Leaving the event area or trading with players during the event will disqualify you from the event. Bringing or obtaining any items from anyone other than the Event Registrar will disqualify you. These rules may be subject to change at any point during the event.
Grand prize for each category: Forum Title of "The Biggest Catch" Champion, Goody bag containing( Top quality Fishing Equipment, and a rare Tier 1 Skill Books)
Fishing skill has recently been given some new life within Mortal Online. It has some new content for players to explore which can be quite profitable. Butchers will seek out certain types of fishes to butcher for unique materials and cooks will seek out fish meat for their recipes. Fishing is truly a mini game in its own right. No combat skill is needed to become a fisherman. New players, and veterans are welcome to explore the updated skill.
Equip a pole and draw it like a weapon
Choose for the top slot a fishing line
Choose second from top slot a hook
Choose bottom slot bait
Set a depth that your hook will be fishing at.
Hold down the left mouse button to pull back then release to cast the hook a distance in front of you.
Wait and watch chat for your first indication.
You feel a nibble! }Something is nibbling at your line.
Something tugged your line! }Something is on your line and simply tapping the left mouse button if done on time will yield the next message you receive.
Something pulls the float down! }You have hooked a fish now real it in by either holding down the left mouse button or in bursts depending on the type of line you have used.
You caught a NAME at Amount. }You have caught your fish! The name will be listed and the weight of the fish you caught.
Cast your line in again to repeat the process.
Note: When a fish is pulling on the fishing rod, you will notice that the rod is bending. If you reel in the fish during this, you will add extra stress to the rod and may cause the fish to get away. Be sure to wait until the the rod stops bending before reeling in and your success rate will increase significantly.
