A new demo version was released today, you can grab it at the same place:

Changes:
- Added option to select difficulty per mission
- New menu and bridge backgrounds
- UI improvements

So you can now select the difficulty which should make it more balanced for your play style.

You get two missions from the 'garden' level. It's likely to be full of bugs and unbalanced gameplay, but with your help this will be an awesome game.

Yikes, some 6 months since last update? No matter, let's go straight to the good news. Band of Drones is now entering alpha testing phase!
All artwork, audio and code is in place, except for bugs, multiplayer and feature creeping, so the plan is to get an alpha version out for sale (likely with discount) within the next few weeks. In the meantime, there's a new screenshot for you to enjoy. This is the human underwater mines on planet Crixius, I love the background on this level!

Been working hard on structuring mod support, so it will be as easy as possible to create mods for the game. It's much cleaner now, basically you''ll just need to add your mod files into an extensions folder and the game will use it. You can change drones' look, add weapons and create your own campaigns with custom maps.
Also I've chosen to do the ZX Spectrum thing as an extension with it's own campaign on two scenarios. Thing is, I'm guessing most of you prefer the new look, and duplicating the whole game with ZX art is simply too much for my resources. This also means that ZX will have it's own save games, so it's really independent of the main campaign.
Also there's a new weapon type: Laser Guns! Their targeting is 100% accurate, but the damage is rather low compared to cannons and missile launchers. I think they come in handy in situations where you have a narrow line of sight to the enemy or when he's low on health and you don't need to waste the ammo of the more damaging weapons.
