redneckbadgerlord, we do support PCGEN imports for 3.5E and 4E right now. You can test it out with the demo and with our character import tool. I believe PCGen also has export to FG XML as an option.

Seems like a very useful utility; covers many gaming schemes
Liberty Or Death 16 May 2013 @ 11:20am

ograstamon 13 May 2013 @ 9:56pm
Whaaat? No Boot Hill? No Gamma World? BAH! Well...Ok.
redneckbadgerlord 12 May 2013 @ 6:01am
Love this! This looks like a tabletop I'd really want to use.

Feature idea: Import characters from PCGEN files.

Love this been waiting for something like this for a long time!

I've been doing some research on VTT's and am trying an alternative to FG currently but it's not doing everything I want. I will likely get a FG GM/Player license soon outside of Steam so I can start really digging into it. I'm happy to read that FG is being actively developed and improved. The compatibility with Hero Lab is a big plus for me also. You have my greenlight vote. Good luck!

ddavidson and all the rest...you gotta let those other parties know the fervor and commitment of your fanbase. that the open pliability of modfying your rulesets, and the customer fanbase of aging tabletop gamers resorting to online meeting clients like FG is only going to increase
Smiteworks  [autor] 26 Apr 2013 @ 5:18pm
Hey Fumbles, it was indeed supposed to be today. We are working through some contract issues that might derail us, unfortunately and it's currently in question whether or not we'll get our issues resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can come to terms and make an awesome addition to Fantasy Grounds. If not, it will set us back half a year or so but we'll still come out with some cool enhancements that bring FG to the web, tablets and phones.
Fumbles vs. Machine 26 Apr 2013 @ 12:14pm
I thought the kickstarter was getting announced today for fantasy grounds. any update on that? if there is no kickstarter i cant throw money at the screen lol
william981 24 Apr 2013 @ 2:48am
i love the old RPG Tabletop games : }

Thanks for the votes of confidence guys. For any Rolemaster Classic fans out there, we just rolled out a super sweet upgrade that helps automate the character creation and leveling (which says a lot for anyone who knows that system) and also chops the memory usage down to about 25% of what it was previously when you have all the rulebooks loaded into memory. We'll be adding two new ones for that soon too.

For Castles & Crusades fans, we also posted a new adventure module and we have four more on the way.
HighwayCat 21 Apr 2013 @ 5:17am
We're using the non-steam version at least once every week with Savage Worlds. The best solution to keep in touch with old role playing friends from a distance. And sadly the only way we can play these days beside our jobs, and studies. We tried Call of Cthulhu, Warhammer FRP, D&D 4E, Pathfinder, and much more, and they all really great, with good features, that simplifies the game, so you don't have to search the books in every situation. It really helps either the players and the GM, from the character creation to the combat tracking. It's a great software, and if it gets Steam Workshop support, andand keeps the original prices, I will tottally buy it again :) Go on guys! Right to the store!
Malpercio 21 Apr 2013 @ 4:18am
Any chance we will ever see a module for Anima: Beyond Fantasy? It is not exactly a mainstream game although it certainly has a unique flavor and aside from some quirks due to translation the system is rock solid. Definitely backing this either way as I already have a copy of the ultimate edition of fantasy grounds and it has been great so far the latest updates to it have been quite nice as well although it is a shame that new games are not gaining compatibility with it very quickly. Still I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in tabletop roleplaying or who already enjoys the hobby while not perfect it is still the best software I have tried when it comes to the games it has compatibility with.
Nebula 20 Apr 2013 @ 10:22am
I probably won't buy this just because I haven't played a table top RPG in years but I will thumbs this up because if I still did I think this would rock. It really makes me want to find a good community and play D&D again (or maybe contact some old friends!)
W0MP3R 20 Apr 2013 @ 6:30am
it looks Great!!!! x3
nickarvanit 20 Apr 2013 @ 1:09am
Gamma world? Excellent!
Smiteworks  [autor] 19 Apr 2013 @ 7:16pm
Gamma World is owned by Wizards of the Coast and would need their permission. We are in discussions with them for it though. We've been in discussions for quite a while though, so take that with a grain of salt.
For Metamorphosis Alpha, they approached us and are very interested in pushing this to Fantasy Grounds; however, we had trouble locating a Fantasy Grounds developer for this who was already familiar enough with that system to do it justice.
the.vagrant.werewolf 18 Apr 2013 @ 9:11am
Could we see Gamma World included in this? Any variant thereof? Even Metamorphosis Alpha or Omega World (Dungeon 94/Polyhedron 153)? I'm completely on board with this anyway. But the inclusion of one of those would have me utterly sold, as they're my favourites. (I enjoy their levity.)
nickarvanit 18 Apr 2013 @ 6:20am
Awesome!
Tapewormz 14 Apr 2013 @ 8:31pm
@Smiteworks, that's pretty excellent. Thanks for the info.
Smiteworks  [autor] 14 Apr 2013 @ 7:17pm
Vidise_Crimson, this doesn't have to replace your face-to-face games. It just allows you to have a similar experience online too. For many people, it means more frequent game nights since they don't have to pack up and travel across town. Cancellations seem to be fewer once you get up and running because people can even play sick, while the kids are sleeping, etc.
Smiteworks  [autor] 14 Apr 2013 @ 7:15pm
Hey Tapewormz, we've been around since 2004 and under new ownership since 2009. We don't plan on going away anytime soon, but the software runs peer-to-peer except for the alias system. You would just need to revert back to IP address connections. If we get on Steam, I'm assuming you'd be able to connect through Steam even if we were no longer "up".
Tapewormz 14 Apr 2013 @ 1:35am
@Smiteworks, the free steam keys for current patrons of the product is nice. I have a question about what happens if you guys give up development of this product. Will people still be able to host and join games and create their own rulesets with it?
Vidise_Crimson 13 Apr 2013 @ 11:52pm
hmmm, I would go for this except it would somewhat invalidate my huge collection of dnd mini's and books, etc, etc... but I wish you much luck!
Garlin 9 Apr 2013 @ 6:17pm
If this game allows me to actaully create my AD&D quest online then I'm all for it. I hope there will be alot of drag and drop items to keep the maps interesting. We need a game like this, but will this game be the one? Guess we will see.
DaveBot 8 Apr 2013 @ 10:24am
I never played tabletop D&D (played a ton of D&D-based PC games, though) but this looks really interesting. A yes from me
LordLynxx 4 Apr 2013 @ 7:27am
Love this stuff, I want to see it on steam. Keep up the good work Smiteworks!
Smiteworks  [autor] 30 Mar 2013 @ 8:43pm
Omenpapa, you can grab a copy of Fantasy Grounds Lite or Full today from our website. If we get enough traction on Steam to get picked up, we'll send out product keys to our current users. The Kickstarter I mentioned will be for a new 3D interactive map client that can connect to GM's running a Full or Ultimate license. We are planning to launch the Kickstarter on 4/26 and it will run until 5/26. If it doesn't reach it's funding goals, then it won't be made and everyone who backed it would keep their money. If it does fund, then we'll have enough capital and interest to pursue the project. The release date is slated for around November 2013 for that add-on.
Omenpapa 30 Mar 2013 @ 12:42pm
So is this means that we can pay for the access of the kickstarter and play the actual version from 4/26? Or is this going to be an inhouse test, and the public version will be out only around 5/26?
Great_Atuin 28 Mar 2013 @ 10:46pm
I've been waiting for a decent version of this type for a long time!
inferno986return 23 Mar 2013 @ 11:04am
The only reason I know of this game's existance is because it was the jack of clubs in the official Origins 2011 game deck (which I grabbed a couple of months ago in a clearance sale at The Dice Shop), so I know this game has some weight to it.

If you can give me a solid price and a cross-platform (with native/very near-native compatibility) game, I think I get endorse this because I was meaning to look into tabletop RPGs (mostly play video game ones like Fallout) and this looks like a good point of entry for me.

Especially with full Steam integration with the DLC and other content via the Workshop.

I'll endorse it and see where this goes. :-)

This user created video walks you through importing a D&D 4E character into Fantasy Grounds for play. The utility also supports importing characters from PCGen and HeroLab for D&D 3.5, 4th Edition D&D and Pathfinder.

We are currently planning to have the Kickstarter for the 3D client to run from 4/26 to 5/26. This should give us another month to work on additional prototype builds, get our agreements and our marketing plan in place and spread the word a bit before it officially launches.
[Fail] Little Timmy Attacks! 19 Mar 2013 @ 7:44pm
The most stable, well supported, VTT out there. This should be on Steam
michael_derringer 19 Mar 2013 @ 3:19pm
This is the coolest tool for gaming I have seen I would love to Buy it. I hope it gets released
General Chaøs™ 19 Mar 2013 @ 9:37am
Added this to my collection list, I would probably get this direct from your site over steam to avoid the need to launch steam to have to play the game or download the files, but I know some people are "Steam purests" so it being on steam would bring more attention to the program and would satisfy though who prefer everything on steam. Keep up the good work on it I am usually not into these kind of programs however looking at it appealed to me. So for that it gets my vote and addition to my collection.
[MiT] realistik 19 Mar 2013 @ 9:33am
FG2 is the best VTT around! I've been using it for many years now, and Steam availability would be a great thing.
Admiral Crunch 17 Mar 2013 @ 3:41pm
Use it already gaming with old friends spread around the world. Great program.
KotU 17 Mar 2013 @ 8:24am
I use FG2 for tabletop gaming with my old college friends. It's a great piece of software. Really makes gaming easy, fast and fun.

When might we expect this kickstarter to happen? it has been getting kicked around your website for like 5 months. A time frame for the kickstarted would be nice so i can throw money at my screen for you to take
Neikun 13 Mar 2013 @ 8:34pm
What's the estimated price of this program?
Have you thought about doing a 4-pack discount?
