DrQuickbeam, we are actively working on it now. John is doing this work now that he has the most recent updates and patches taken care of and we will post updates once we get the first beta version up and running smoothly. We've just recently started, so we don't have a hard and fast date to share yet.

Appreciate Smiteworks being so responsive! How is the Steam port coming?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 23. März um 21:02 Uhr
The plan is to give out keys to users through Steam if at all possible. From what I can tell, I think it will be.

Good day Smiteworks,

Our group of 3.5e players enjoy playing on your awesome program. We are actually playing on the Ultimate license from money we all pooled up so we just have some questions. When FG moves over to Steam, can our DM get a Steam Key for the Ultimate Edition? We're most likely going to repurchase the game for the Steam Edition, but we were just wondering if we could at least save money for one copy.
Smiteworks  [Autor] 23. März um 19:40 Uhr
I'm hoping it will be just another month or two.
kriegmarine 17. März um 7:48 Uhr
Then weeks or months?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 16. März um 8:50 Uhr
We are just now finishing up some of the projects we already had in the works and can begin getting things prepped for release on Steam afterward. Our big challenge is to make sure that players on Steam can interact with players outside of Steam easily.

My players are still waiting for Fantasy Grounds to hit Steam...we want to start the campaign soon, so I hope FG3 makes its way to Steam sooner rather than later.
cy5000 11. März um 18:16 Uhr
I hope this game s coming out soon or atleast by this summer would be cool.
Smiteworks  [Autor] 27. Feb. um 5:05 Uhr
To date, every version from 2004 to 2014 has been released for free to the community. Version 3.0 changed so many things that we considered charging a nominal upgrade fee, but didn't. It's possible that we might charge a small upgrade fee for a future version if it required significant development, but I thought a view of our history would be beneficial. We try to create a steady stream of add-ons that are optional purchases for content as a way to continually generate revenue while at the same time giving more stuff to the GM's and players.
kane 26. Feb. um 8:56 Uhr
Free upgrade? Awesome. Thanks for the reply, gonna buy soon :)
Smiteworks  [Autor] 25. Feb. um 16:16 Uhr
kane, FG 3 is out now. We gave this out as a free upgrade to all current users and it adds a ton of new functionality and better support for additional ruleset creation. We are working with a third party developer who will be making a WYSIWYG graphical interface that allows people to point and click build a custom ruleset that gets all the functionality from our newest Core RPG ruleset and extends it and skins it to look and function how they want. There will be a Kickstarter from them this summer and we will support them in their efforts as much as possible.

For your other question, the Ultimate is for GM's that don't want their players to ever have to buy anything. They connect to anyone hosting a game with an Ultimate for free.
kane 25. Feb. um 7:52 Uhr
I'm a little bit confused. Is there Fantasy Grounds 3 ahead? Because I am planning to buy it, but if newer version comes out, I'll wait.

And another question: Obtaining the Ultimate License means my players can just download, install FG without registering and play?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 20. Feb. um 15:27 Uhr
Stardog, we completely understand and appreciate the feedback. We are very excited to be included on Steam. I am also a Steam customer, although I keep all my personal purchases on a separate account -- with the exception of one mistaken purchase that I had to buy twice. ;)
Stardog 20. Feb. um 6:43 Uhr
The transition to Steam doesn't have to be painful, but it should be treated with care because there is a culture here that's just as important to your business as your homesite culture. A lot of people might not understand what this is or why it's important that it be included on Steam, but that doesn't mean that the move should be made a lesser priority. Other games greenlit at the same time as this have already been released, and you have fans here who are waiting to make that purchase. I intend to be among the first of those who do so. I know there's a lot of work to be done, but we are looking forward to being included in your customer base.

Some might think that we could just buy through your homesite, but I don't like spreading my credit card numbers around in too many databases. I'm not alone when I say that. Sure, it's just a matter of time before Steam is truly compromised, but fewer security risks means that I'm delaying the inevitable. Please understand this.
Stardog 20. Feb. um 6:35 Uhr
Smiteworks, thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear that. I understand, but it's unfortunate for those of us waiting for this release. I hope that it's sooner rather than later.
Light 19. Feb. um 23:55 Uhr
Looks like the servers are down right now?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 19. Feb. um 17:19 Uhr
Stardog, we do not yet have a release schedule. We were ready to work on the Steam conversion early in the greenlight process when things looked promising, but since it dragged on longer than expected, we began work on another large release (version 3.0) We've released v3.0 and have been inundated with subsequent, but very important follow-up releases. Those changes have mostly stabilized and we are not planning to introduce any new major features prior to releasing for Steam. We have to catch up our documentation, and then Steam will be the very next step for release.

The initial release will be relatively light on Steam features and subsequent releases will begin improving upon and enabling additional release features.
Stardog 19. Feb. um 2:38 Uhr
Okay... I'm not sure if the guy was being snarky, but I just asked over at the dev site if there was any word on a release date and was told by Ruien (sp?) that it could be a very long time. That's too bad. Good luck, guys. Hope you make it on Steam after all. I've been dying to try this out, but I guess I was expecting too much.
Stardog 15. Feb. um 10:43 Uhr
looking looking looking......

Where is Fantasy Grounds on Steam?
GRIMSOK 12. Feb. um 18:38 Uhr
For those GM out there Hit me if need a other player =)
velsevur 12. Feb. um 0:03 Uhr
Keep previous post.
Bendak 11. Feb. um 6:45 Uhr
Do we have any better timeline for when Fantasy Grounds will make it to Steam? I've got a full group of players waiting to buy the program.
Smiteworks  [Autor] 11. Jan. um 10:21 Uhr
siferion is correct, sorry for the omission. This is one of the built-in rulesets that are supported and it comes with a bunch of content from the Open Gaming License. Stats for non-OGL monsters would still need to be entered -- such as Mind Flayers and Beholders.
siferion 5. Jan. um 20:45 Uhr
There is 3.5e D&D HaikenEdge (and Pathfinder) they just missed it out of the list. (may saying it has 3.5e support is like a television box telling you it features a remote control!!) ;)
HaikenEdge 5. Jan. um 10:17 Uhr
Will there be D&D 3.5 support? I'm seeing AD&D (which I think is 2E) and 4E, and am curious is 3.5E will get support.
Stoltverd 31. Dez. 2013 um 20:12 Uhr
Like an update? Or like a DLC? Sorry for bothering you so much!
Happy new year by the way! It's just 11:10 PM here but when you read this it surely be new year hahaha
Smiteworks  [Autor] 31. Dez. 2013 um 18:19 Uhr
It will most likely be an upgrade to the existing version.
Stoltverd 23. Dez. 2013 um 18:29 Uhr
You say also. Im guessing that there will be 2 separate versions of fantasy grounds then?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 23. Dez. 2013 um 15:05 Uhr
Stoltverd, you heard correctly. It will also be on Steam.
Stoltverd 22. Dez. 2013 um 10:29 Uhr
I heard you planned to move to Unity.
Is that true?
Will that be on steam?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 21. Dez. 2013 um 21:17 Uhr
We just released version 3.0 which was in development and beta for some time. Now that it is rolled out, we'll stand by on development for another week or two to cover any patches for things missed in Beta. We expect to begin re-coding for Steam compatibility starting in January and will release updates as we progress. We are shooting for Q1 2014. I was hopeful it would be sooner, but there are some challenges with how our licensing and networking system will work within Steam that we didn't originally plan for. Needless to say, we want to get up and running on Steam as quickly as possible with our core software and all of our add-ons.
Stoltverd 20. Dez. 2013 um 6:48 Uhr
Still waiting it here
Dragon 14. Dez. 2013 um 7:38 Uhr
Is there any approximate date of release?
Morpheus Stalker 11. Dez. 2013 um 10:44 Uhr
Waiting for Release
Smiteworks  [Autor] 28. Nov. 2013 um 16:51 Uhr
Fantasy Grounds is continually evolving. It will be the latest version of what we have available. We don't plan on maintaining two separate codesets, so they should upgrade together.
Dragon 28. Nov. 2013 um 5:24 Uhr
I cannot understand what version if going to be available on steam. Fantasy Grounds II ? Or some newer one?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 26. Nov. 2013 um 11:43 Uhr
Savage, I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with FG's networking. A very few number of our users rely upon Hamachi or have issues with setting up port forwarding. Only the GM needs to perform any of these steps and most users are able to get it set up by following the instructions we provide in our FAQ and on our forums. Users are welcome to try it out using the demo copy prior to making a purchase to ensure that it will work for them. Users who promote using Hamachi are normally behind a very strict firewall/router that they don't have access to.
Savage 26. Nov. 2013 um 11:37 Uhr
For the price that FGII charges for the full version, and considering that the network support is dismal at best, its a wonder that this was ever greenlight. To be honest its a complete joke that FGII has to rely heavily on third party applications like Hamachi to get things running smoothly. Without Hamachi, there's the added hassle of port forwarding which while it works for some, for others it doesn't always work and the only option that is left is Hamachi.

I can foresee a lot of issues with this launching on steam with potential buyers getting frustrated at the lack of a proper networking solution that doesn't require Hamachi and that doesn't require port forwarding.
Mako 11. Nov. 2013 um 17:33 Uhr
This looks pretty cool. I was considering writing a web interface that let me game with my buddies.
Wayne 1. Nov. 2013 um 13:11 Uhr
You know that doesn't sound like a bad Idea, having custom music/background noise in the interface could really help create the mood.
Smiteworks  [Autor] 1. Nov. 2013 um 13:05 Uhr
Hello SelectiveHouse, there is not currently a music feature planned. We are looking to move the core engine over to Unity next year, though, so that opens up more options like this.
SelectiveHouse 28. Okt. 2013 um 11:39 Uhr
I am very much looking forward to release on Steam guys! One question: Is there a music player feature enabled/planned in the game?
Smiteworks  [Autor] 25. Okt. 2013 um 7:21 Uhr
Wayne, we do have this on our wishlist.
Wayne 21. Okt. 2013 um 14:17 Uhr
@Smiteworks: I know you said you don't currently have a built in matchmaking feature, but you have a large forum. I appreciate the forum, but I believe there is a large number of us who would really like a matchmaking like system in game. You could set it up like a Quest board in a pub. This would make it easier to see who's all online, in the fantasy grounds interface. I believe this would be a great leap in the popularity of Fantasy Grounds as well. So in closing I'll add something that few people are willing to say "Please" would you do it for us all. Thank you.
Smiteworks  [Autor] 19. Okt. 2013 um 6:57 Uhr
JJDraken, we were in the Greenlight program for over a year and depending on when it hit, we could have probably rolled something out in 30-60 days. Unfortunately, this hit in the midst of a massive development cycle. We are going to complete the rollout of version 3.0 and then start on the Steam integration immediately afterward. We are probably looking at early 2014.
Legion =) 17. Okt. 2013 um 0:24 Uhr
Gratz for the green light!
JJDrakken 14. Okt. 2013 um 17:27 Uhr

Im really looking forward to this because i live too far away from my friends for tabletop gaming anymore.
