Sorry I haven't posted much here, but we've been sharing plenty of updates elsewhere:

In short, progress has been great and we're looking to have a full playable of Asylum early next year. Also, we're lining up several announcements for January, including our new Steam page. So stay tuned, and thanks all for your patience :)

Any news or update to share?
AgustinCordes  [author] May 30 @ 4:52am
@overkir, no worries about your English, I understood everything. Sorry Asylum is taking so long, but I know Scratches is a beloved game in Russia and we sincerely want to live up to the expectations. Asylum will be indeed translated to Russian, and also rest assured we're optimizing the game so that it runs smoothly on older computers :)
overkir May 27 @ 5:07am
Hello Agustín Cordes. I write you from Russia. Sorry in advance if there are mistakes or something is unclear. Use online translator, because he do not speak English. Periodically I go and read the comments. Really looking forward to the new game from Sunscape. I see that there are disgruntled. I confess that I understand these people. Still more understand and willing to wait for your work of art. I have only 2 requests: localization into Russian language and great optimization (my PC does not pull modern games). I want to tell you thank you for the game scratches (bought both versions). Developers such as you have very little. Today in the gaming industry is just garbage. Thank you again for your work and good luck. And everyone who waits with patience and understanding.

@Bob True that, the Greenlight trailer still displays an embarrassing 2013 release date, but unfortunately it's not possible to update the video on YouTube. In our defense, the release date does simply say "TBA".

The upcoming store page will be fully updated.
𝕭𝖔𝖇 🐱☕ May 3 @ 12:45pm
All well, and good for you. Just stop with the Coming in 2013, expected Q1, Q3, etc, etc, of 2014, 15,16, etc, etc. It gives false hope. I'd rather hear "It will be ready when it's ready" instead of tangling a carrot in front of us. We're not rabbits. I'm sure this is what's upsetting most of us. Well, at least me.

As a promissed game for 2013, that your first video shows, and now we're in year 2017, and yet another expected 2018 release is forecasted. Well, I just won't hold my breath. Just give us the facts, not false hope dates that have come, and gone.
AgustinCordes  [author] May 3 @ 11:12am
Look guys, we’re doing the best we can here and creating a horror game you won’t forget. It’s not something you will finish and dismiss in a couple of hours; we trust Asylum will stay with you for a long time to come. It’s a very detailed, complex, challenging, and lengthy game. There is no hold up other than it’s an ambitious project, and yes, we completely misjudged how long it would take us to do it. If you need reassurances of how big and important Asylum is going to be, just give a few days until our store page goes up with new, updated content. We have been showing the game on GDC to publishers, press and fans, and the unanimous response is that it looks as impressive as ever. I’m truly sorry it’s taking this long.

As for a point and click adventure that can’t be scary… well, just ask fans of Scratches about that :)
AgustinCordes  [author] May 3 @ 11:12am
I’m not sure what makes you think that just because Asylum is a point and click adventure it should take less than two years (maybe even one year!) to finish. And statements like “it took five years to make Skyrim”… seriously? May I point out that the budget of Skyrim was $85 MILLION with a team nearing 100 developers? To put things in comparison, Asylum has had a budget of about 200k so far (100k from Kickstarter and 100k out of my own pocket) and an average team of 3 developers. That’s a 0.23% of the budget in Skyrim.

And big budgets don’t always mean a swift development – The Witness cost $6 million and took 8 years to complete, still more than Asylum.

I certainly agree with you Dander.

Every year it's the same thing. I've lost interest in it. Last time I came here was two years ago, and figured I check now, just for kicks. Not surprised at the result. The flame fizzled for me long ago. Maybe my grandchildren will enjoy it when I'm dust in the ground.
dander1493 Apr 22 @ 12:08pm
I always come back once a year and check on the status of this game to see if it's been released yet. Lo and behold, it's still not been released. I heard about this game in 2012. It's been five damn years Senscape. Five years. Get it together and release the game. I don't see what the hold up is. At this point I'm starting to think that this game is just one big joke and that we've been waiting for nothing...

It's going to be incredibly ironic if this game sells and does poorly. I want to love and play this game, but the fact that it's taking over five years to release is a bit ridiculous and really turns me away from the game entirely. It took five years to make Skyrim. It should have taken a year to make this game - maybe 2 years, maximum. There's always a new excuse from you guys; hell, sometimes it's the same excuse. It's getting old.
AgustinCordes  [author] Apr 17 @ 10:50am
@raul_dyck I'm afraid it won't come out before Q1 2018. That said, we're going to be posting several goodies on the upcoming Steam community that will make the wait less painful, which *may* include a refreshed demo.
raul_dyck Apr 15 @ 2:11am
Augustine, tell me please when at least approximately expect asylum? I have been waiting for her for more than 5 years, and I'm ready to wait for more, I just want to know approximately when she will still go out ...
Chaz Apr 14 @ 12:08am
Thank you!

Scratches is the Great game !
AgustinCordes  [author] Mar 30 @ 2:39pm
@Hatch, it's not that Steam took it down, the publishing agreement expired and the game is sort of in legal limbo right now. I'm doing my best to maintain the Steam community, though, and keep the flame burning :)
Hatch Mar 29 @ 5:28pm
Speaking of Scratches, why did Steam take it down? I already have it but now nobody else can get it.
AgustinCordes  [author] Mar 26 @ 6:37pm
I find it funny when people assume that point and click adventures aren't worth n years of development. These games can take just as much time, if not way more, than, say, a survival horror.

We're developing Asylum for fans of adventure games, and I'm pretty sure fans of Scratches wouldn't have it other way :)
сκαρ☭ Mar 26 @ 10:50am

wottolin Mar 21 @ 5:34am
Cant wait for this! Scratches was one of my all time favs. Thank you for continuing to make old school point and click horror adventure games. There are still people out there who still enjoy them as they once were.

It's nice. I'm very interested how this will turn out.
AgustinCordes  [author] Mar 2 @ 10:32am
@Blaire, yes, it's point and click and we're going to support Steam Cloud.
[CRS] Witch A. Nibenay Feb 26 @ 12:17pm
Also, will Steam Cloud be implemented?
[CRS] Witch A. Nibenay Feb 26 @ 12:17pm
Is this Point&click or walking?
Phaidaux Balfour Feb 19 @ 5:02am

Lol :)

Yes, I'm aware of the impending demise of Greenlight (which is a shame, I *truly* liked this platform as a neat discovery tool).

I already have a proper Asylum store page nearly ready to go live, with updated screenshots, videos, forum, etc. The plan is to launch it after GDC in March and of course I'll post the announcement here, so stay tuned :)
Project Ni Feb 14 @ 8:58pm
Hello Agustin. I don't know if you and the team have heard about Valve planning to close and replace Steam Greenlight sometime this Spring. Are there any plans to move Asylum to a more secure space since it has already been Greenlit?
Skarktrol ™ Jan 16 @ 1:41pm
AgustinCordes: Thank you, hope in 2017 the game will be. :)
AgustinCordes  [author] Jan 16 @ 9:37am
Hey there, Ashley. Thanks, and happy new year to you as well! Project is doing fine, as always we post the most updates in our Facebook page ( or forums ( .

We're very close to having a sizable chunk of the game fully playable in near-final state, allowing you explore the asylum at length, solve puzzles, and be real scared. This version might make it to press sites for eventual preview articles. I can't give you a solid date for the actual release yet, I'm sorry, but the plan is to have a working beta in the few coming months. As soon as we reach that point, we'll evaluate how much work there's left to do and decide the best course of action. There's still TONS of stuff we want to include in Asylum, but we may have to spend some time in the cutting room. Right now it's already three times the size of Scratches, though, so you'll stay a long time in this place.

In any case, we're on our way to having a finished game. Promise!
Ekud Jan 15 @ 3:44am
Hey AgustinCordes. Happy new year to you and all your co-workers :). So, How is the project going?
Skarktrol ™ Nov 1, 2016 @ 10:50am
AgustinCordes: Greetings. Augustine, how you feel about the fact that your game "Rustle" film will be released soon!
AgustinCordes  [author] Oct 12, 2016 @ 12:08pm
Showing up to reassure you that we're not dead is the least I can do! But, we're also preparing amazingly cool stuff to show you, if anything to make the wait a bit less painful :D

In all seriousness, Asylum is our dream project and we're making sure it's a game you'll cherish for years to come. Thank you for being so patient!
crazycupmuffin Oct 10, 2016 @ 6:34am
No, no. That's no probs. I understand it's hard to put a time on these things. That's why to kinda measure it I asked if it's close to being finished or not yet. But so long as we are aware, then that's fine. I'm just happy you's regularly nip in here to have a chat, and reassure us you's are still working away and aren't deceased lol.
Good luck with the work. And we all look forward to playing your game. :)
AgustinCordes  [author] Oct 10, 2016 @ 6:09am
@crazycupmuffin, not this year, unfortunately, but most likely less than a year away. We have big news coming :)
crazycupmuffin Oct 9, 2016 @ 6:07pm
How close are you's? I mean are we talking this year? Or at least a year away?
AgustinCordes  [author] Sep 27, 2016 @ 10:44am
@Candyman, yes, we certainly are. We don't update this Steam page often -- sorry about that -- but you can follow us on Facebook or Twitter for all the latest news. Check out our FB page for plenty of new videos and screens since then:

Last update Oct. 21, 2015. Are they even still working on this game?
Ekud Sep 7, 2016 @ 11:07am
"No jump scares, complex, multilayered story, and a truly terrifying experience."

It warms my heart ! keep going, I'm 100% confident.
Skarktrol ™ Aug 22, 2016 @ 3:12pm
AgustinCordes, I understood you. I'm from Russia :) longtime fan of your creation, I wish you every success, be sure to wait for the game. Thank Agustin. :)
AgustinCordes  [author] Aug 22, 2016 @ 10:28am
@Skarktrol, we're still developing the game. Sorry it's taking so darn long, we're pushing our resources (and our sanity) to their limits with this project, but we're confident, as always, that the wait will be worth it. Sorry as well for the radio silence -- we're still working on the sizable update I mentioned earlier that will feature a new gameplay video, full status report, and discussion of a tentative release date.

So yes, Asylum is very much going; we're working super hard to deliver the memorable game we promised, and double-extra-yes, it's 100% Lovecraftian through and through. No jump scares, complex, multilayered story, and a truly terrifying experience. More as soon as possible!
Skarktrol ™ Aug 20, 2016 @ 3:58pm
AgustinCordes: The latest such issue, the game is still developing? or you wait for a certain day, for release? I just do not understand.
Saphiricia Jul 13, 2016 @ 2:47pm
I hope this game will help fill the Lovecraft niche that is sorely lacking in good games
Crazy Cat ¡¡OMG!! Jul 8, 2016 @ 8:05pm
Tiene muy buena pinta, y aparte es de Agentina que es pionera en el mercado del video game.

Going through all my favorited Greenlit games... glad to see this one is still going.
AgustinCordes  [author] Jun 9, 2016 @ 10:56am
@Ew_ Why do you say the post hasn't been updated since 2013? We just happen to release new materials from Asylum a few months ago, with many more updates on Twitter and Facebook.

I'm getting ready for a "comeback" of sorts and preparing a livestream with new gameplay and announcements. Admittedly, the last gameplay video is a few years old, but the progress we've achieved since then is striking. Folks should be impressed with what we're about to show!
vile80r May 2, 2016 @ 11:38am
I cannot wait for this game to come out. I have had two kids since the Kickstarter campaign. I really want to play this game!
Punished Apr 3, 2016 @ 8:14pm
@dvz' If you even played scratches to begin with, you wouldn't compare this game with amnesia... This just shows how clueless you are. Layers of fear is out, sure, that's awesome! So what? What that has to do with anything? The bigger the pool of quality games the better! Just because one game is out, doesn't mean that other games should be forgotten or ignored, specially when they both belong to different genres
Alex Mar 25, 2016 @ 8:15am
I am so excited for this game to be published. If the teaser is any indication, this is exactly what I've been waiting for. I'm confused by the comments critisizing that other horror games have already been made (basically). Think if no one made another vampire movie, because one had already been made. Only one cartoony adventure game etc.

Some games do seem to have ripped off other games, with nothing particularly original to add of their own, I agree, but this most definitely doesn't seem like one of them. It seems like someone sat down and used their own imagination and wants to think something up, completely from scratch. This game to me seems to be incredibly inspired. Just as you can tell if a story was written from inspiration or simply from a good idea and the ability to execute it.

Take the time you need! Better to ensure a result that does the work and story justice, than rush it and compromise your creative integrity!
Skarktrol ™ Mar 2, 2016 @ 5:29am
AgustinCordes: Thanks!
AgustinCordes  [author] Mar 1, 2016 @ 6:38pm
I'm not sure why this need to compare Asylum to Outlast, Amnesia, Layers of Fear et al. This isn't a race. We're not trying to compete against other titles. We have a thrilling and complex story for Asylum, we have a created a moody, believable game world and we're striving to provide an experience that feels unlike any other. Most importantly, an experience that has a lasting appeal -- a game that stays with you for a long time to come. That's what we're looking to achieve. Asylum won't be any better or worse because you played "successful horror game A, B or C". Such comparisons are baffling.

For the record, and coming from someone who loves and beta tested Amnesia: Asylum has *nothing* to do with Amnesia. I haven't played Layers of Fear either but heard good things of it -- still, not the same kind of game as Asylum. This is NOT a survival horror. Asylum is a good old fashioned adventure game.

Anyway, we're doing everything we can to release the game this year. Expect news soon.
