1. Nice introduction. I thought you would have figured out how to use Atlas and P-Body's portals in this map and not use a crude method of creating a new portal pair with different colors, all through Hammer.
2. I kept stepping on the aerial faith plate and killing myself just trying to explore and think!
3. I kept thinking getting the second laser cube would require both sets of portals and the laser to go through all of them. I bet I am not alone. It eventually occured to me to raise the cube to send the laser 90 degrees to drop the second cube.
Stimich was gonna help with it, but he doesn't know how to recolor portals.
In general: Thank you for the well thought out feedback.
It's a good idea with lots of potential, but I've eventually thumbed this down because of the last chamber. :/
It didn't take me much time to figure out once I read the hint, but there is a tricky 4-portal redirection you can do with the floor and ceiling surfaces that really feels like part of an evilly crafted solution. Another thing that drove me crazy was the floor surface near the exit door. I was expecting the grate and the slightly higher placement to be there for a reason, but that just lead me to a 2-portal setup that felt like a valid solution (works if you hold the cube but the laser falls a couple centimeters off the catcher once you leave the cube onto the grate).
I do like the intended solution though, but there must be a way to make a much cleaner chamber design without all those red herrings... Maybe the ceiling-floor fling and the laser redirection parts should be split into 2 different chambers, I dunno...
For the 4 portals stuff, it felt kinda weird that when you are in 'alt portal set mode', the right mouse button shoots the blue portal and the left button shoots the red one... is this a bug? Also missed frequently the option to toggle back to the normal portal set by hitting the button again, rather than waiting the countdown to end every time...
I liked Mevious' Dyad for Portal 1 more than this one TBH, but I'm really looking forward to seeing more about it! It could easily turn into a full-fledged mod or campaign... :)
It isn't an easy program to learn. It's what Valve used to make their actual maps. It's isn't some friendly guided editor. It's the real thing.
