@jgaultney, glad you enjoyed and thanks for spoiling me. I didn't know that LB favorited the map.
jgaultney 22 hours ago
An enjoyable puzzle that was very satisfying to solve. As far as I can recall, I hadn't even tried
this one before now. I'll have to thank LB's recent favoriting for bringing it to my attention.
A few observations after having read all of the previous comments:
I agree it's not a skills map, none of the moves are hard to execute, once you know
what's needed.
I managed to avoid being killed by the turrets although it was a near thing at the exit. :)
A very well-designed puzzle requiring the proper completion of the earlier steps in order to
complete the final part getting the funnel to the exit .
The final part was definitely the hardest of the puzzle. Finally realizing how to do that forced
me to backtrack in order to apply more gel, in the needed spot. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. :))
A definite thumbs up and favorited!

I'm glad to hear that. It's scary to think about how many people don't know about quicksave and only complete basic maps for that reason.
gardinur16 Oct 31 @ 12:35pm
This was difficult, I rage quit, and then I learned that I could save by pressing f6 and then finished it, good stuff

New link for the walkthrough : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJbxx4ObM8M . I edited the vid, it's not perfect but it's better :)

jandlml May 12, 2015 @ 1:54pm
oh my gosh i did it, icant believe i solved this one. always makes me feel great when i can solve one that takes me a long time. great map

Are you good at the clues buried very far ah
Ganymede Dec 31, 2014 @ 11:57pm
This map was really fun. Very much straight forward in comparison. I LOVE how the turrets are laid out. It's a lot like your Prison Break map in that none of the turrets are really in your way. There's no charging head-strong into oncoming fire, nor is there any hiding behind a cube or ducking out from behind a wall to run for cover. You keep it 100% puzzle. So often, I intentionally avoid turret puzzles because people forget that this game isn't a shooter. You proved in your other map that you knew how to use them properly, and that is what made me confident that you would do the same in this map.

True, the funnel was the most challenging part, but that is also what made this one so fun. It was truly rewarding to reach the exit.

Maybe someday I'll see a puzzle from you where we get to use redirection cubes to destroy them. That's always been my favorite part of turret maps.
GBMusicMaster Dec 16, 2014 @ 2:53pm
Got it! Several tries (over several days) and I finally figured out the funnel issue. Great map--thumbs up and favorited!
dire.fcs Nov 28, 2014 @ 6:33pm
Excellent map again, really good work with the funnel.
Winona Pyder Nov 19, 2014 @ 4:18pm
Your perogative to do whatever you want with it. You know my opinion on the whole thing.
toncica  [author] Nov 19, 2014 @ 12:56pm
That sounds about right, to get the last turret it would also be possible to take one turret, put it on the ground and mount it to grab the remaining turret through the grating. Nobody has ever complained about grabbing something through grating, it's quite common so I don't know why you have such strong feelings towards that.

Sorry that the last room didn't do it for. The main puzzle is getting the funnel to the exit room and the last task after that shouldn't be much of a challenge. I didn't want that to be difficult logically but it should require a little bit of effort, not too much. So far it looks like nobody was stumped in the last room, this is the first time I hear a complaint about it. The last thing I added was the glass to protect the far turret. If the glass makes much of a difference to the player I could remove it.
Winona Pyder Nov 19, 2014 @ 11:46am
the ninja moves included: psyching the turrets out so i got to them in that prime moment where they're just about to sleep, and hovering between funnels to get to the far one. And I consider picking them up through the grate relying on the game issues, which I don't like

Also I don't think it's a good idea making the last room the most deadliest when there are no autosaves, and luckily I did go "oh wow, better make a quicksave just in case", so the only thing I took personally was the handfuls of bullets. And the auto saves can be unproblematic if they're placed in places where nothing is variable like right after walking through a required fizzler or right before you reach the last room and player has the funnel with them without question.

Personally I think if you got rid of the last room the whole test would be pretty much perfect anyway.
toncica  [author] Nov 19, 2014 @ 7:01am
Use F6 for quick save and F7 for quick load. Sometimes automatic save points are problematic, thus I won't ever put any in my maps.

What kind of ninja moves did you perform in the last room? There are two options, one of them should be acceptable. Since all the turrets to this point were obstacles but unlikely to kill the player I found it adequate to make the last room more threatening. It's almost safe to say that everybody dies once in the last room, don't take it personally. I understand that this would be annoying if you didn't quick save up to that point though.
Winona Pyder Nov 19, 2014 @ 5:45am
It got really clever towards the end! Loved it when you had to get the cube, and then get the funnel back for the second to last room But then that last room was really stupid and required working with the game's breaks, and performing ninja moves. Not challenging mentally just annoying, and persnickety. Well done up until then, also save points! Took 30 min up until that point.
TS_Mind_Swept Nov 16, 2014 @ 9:27am
i had to go back and do it right later when i lost the cube (that funnel glitch is kind of a pain to get working @.@)
toncica  [author] Nov 16, 2014 @ 9:24am
Maybe if the funnel glitch didn't happen, that's not how gentlemen do it. So I'm afraid I have to go with a 'no' there. :P
TS_Mind_Swept Nov 16, 2014 @ 9:17am
still, there's only 2 parts I needed help on, the rest i did on my own, does that count? (I'm sure you're going to say no)
toncica  [author] Nov 16, 2014 @ 6:16am
I wouldn't say it's easy. When it was new I think it was very challenging, but a lot of people have become experienced by now and possibly rank this medium at best. Should still be a challenge for the vast majority.
TS_Mind_Swept Nov 15, 2014 @ 9:19pm
well i did it, kind of, not on my own though, if u say this one is one of your easier ones, I'd hate to see the one's u think are hard. x.x
The thing i loved most though is how the chamber is layed out, you can always go back if you need to, so no trapping, and it looks fair too...for a Beemod map. :p 8/10
piotr_mil Apr 8, 2014 @ 4:39am
Also, not sure why people had problems with getting the funnel to the last chamber, it seemed easy to me.
piotr_mil Apr 8, 2014 @ 4:35am
Not very difficult, but highly enjoyable.
Tishyn Mar 1, 2014 @ 1:01pm
For sure one of the best maps i played! Simple and yet so tricky. The best combination there is when it comes to puzzles. Right on the money, sir^^

Wish I could create a map like this. And I have tried. Its not that simple though -.-
Sora Dec 17, 2013 @ 7:26am
I like this! Took me some times to figure out especially to think how to get the funnel into the last chamber.
-Recommend for those who are looking for medium difficulty
Velexia Dec 17, 2013 @ 3:46am
I agree on savepoints. I have one video where I did someone's map and the savepoint happened right before I died, and I loaded and died about 3 times (without even being able to move away) before having to start over completely... Other times I am saving just before or after the savepoint anyway.
Blue Dec 15, 2013 @ 5:13pm
I guess you have a strong point there, I just forget to press F6... but that's more my problem. I still love all those ppl who add savepoints to give me a backup save when I forgot to do it manually again. =D Anyway... What I wanted to add to my prev comment, for me it wasn't a turret challenge, more a funnel challenge. Did not really have issues with any turrets. Besides ofcource that time I forgot to press F6... =) When I went to the area below the turrets and got shot in the back -.-.
toncica  [author] Dec 15, 2013 @ 4:54pm
Dude, savepoints are just weird to me and it wouldn't make much sense since my chambers are usually not that linear. It's far better to leave it to the player to press F6 when he thinks it's appropriate. Glad you enjoyed the chamber.
Blue Dec 15, 2013 @ 4:39pm
...which I did certainly not regret. Really liked this chamber. I always hope to find a map that is too difficult for me to solve. Well, you made me one. I got stucked when I noticed that I had to get the blue funnel to the exit. Had no fkin (excuse this unholy language) clue how to get this done. Had to watch Test Chamber Junkie's vid twice to understand this issue. Ofcource afterwards it all seems to be easy and you ask yourself why you missed this. Thank you for having my brains cracked! :)
Blue Dec 15, 2013 @ 3:08pm
Duuuuude... You need to implement quicksave zones... I always forget to press f6 while I am playing >.> The chamber looks good and plays good, so I'll try again...
Velexia Nov 21, 2013 @ 11:02am
Here's my second attempt at your map =)

Velexia Nov 20, 2013 @ 2:19pm
If you can beat my Warm Cuddly Gumdrop Unicorn Level of Love ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=142360984 ) I'll try to beat yours again ~_^
Velexia Nov 20, 2013 @ 2:11pm
Welllllll you've stumped me. I think my favorite moment was destroying the first series of turrets. I couldn't managed to get past the part where you actually see the exit for the first time though. Whatever the solution is to continue on past that drop down, it seems incredibly obscure. I gave a thumbs up though, because while difficult, the part I was able to get through was satisfying and fun =)
Jethro Q.Walrustitty Sep 25, 2013 @ 3:34am
Nice, really fun chamber..... once i remembered to f6 save! lol. I really liked the way it starts easy and gets more difficult as you progress, I have to admit I played it once and got down to the lower levels and got frustrated because I hadn't quicksaved, so i left it, but on revisiting it had more success. great puzzle, things seemed very well thought out and very nicely designed.
toncica  [author] Sep 13, 2013 @ 10:35am
Glad you enjoyed it. :)
kimist108 Sep 13, 2013 @ 10:32am
Much better fate for turrets than in Prepartions 2. Thoroughly enjoyed taking them out. Especially the first one.
Bisqwit Jun 2, 2013 @ 12:52pm
Yeah, I did not say about playtesting as criticism, it was just a general observation. And yes, I don't know what was it with the brainfart I had with the cube in the beginning...
toncica  [author] Jun 2, 2013 @ 9:07am
You wouldn't believe how much playtesting this map had. I think most reactions indicate that it got better, earlier versions had some silly stuff which I abandoned. Your blind run looked to me that you weren't in tune with the map from the start, like you were looking for things that weren't there. It is pretty straight forward until later on. I found it remarkable that you refused to put the cube on the button for like ten minutes and searched for other ways. :)
Bisqwit Jun 2, 2013 @ 8:10am
Yeah, when making a map there tends to be kind of tunnel vision that makes the author unable to judge the difficulty level of their own map. That's why playtesting is so important...
toncica  [author] Jun 1, 2013 @ 6:04pm
Thanks Bisqwit, unfortunately two other parts crashed before the end so I missed some stuff. That can happen when you go to the desktop while recording. Demos 1,6 and 7 played fine. I'm sorry you didn't complete the map, that's never a satisfying experience. It's a good reminder though not to make it any harder, I was tempted to add more challenge to it but apparently it's enough the way it is. Tell me if you need to see the solution for closure.
About the orange turrets, only the first turret was orange because of the gel splat on that socket (the body needs to fall into the water as I don't want any turret stacking taking place). It would randomly paint the turret and I enforced that effect to be consistent. I thought it was funny so I made the other couple turrets orange too.
Bisqwit Jun 1, 2013 @ 1:00pm
http://bisqwit.iki.fi/kala/turretchallenge-toncica-blind-by-bisqwit.zip Here's my blind playthrough. It is in several parts. I did not manage to complete it. The final part, or the second last, not sure, with the grid in front of the portalable surface, had me stumped. I could not figure out a way to bring the funnel with me . With feeling of exhaustion of all possible leads, I finally gave up. You can see I worked on the solving for a few days. The zip contains seven demos, two of which are broken (Portal 2 crashed as soon as I began recording), and the total runtime is a little over an hour.
It is a good puzzly puzzle. I could not understand why you had some turrets painted red though.
wildgoosespeeder May 28, 2013 @ 5:53pm
DAFUQ? This chamber is tricky as hell! Every section had me thinking. Having two solutions with the orange gel room is quite good and most would do the easier before trying the harder (harder for later in the chamber) but can be confusing and unconventional test building practice because the harder uncommon way to solve that area can be performed at any time when ready to solve the orange gel area.
toncica  [author] May 28, 2013 @ 4:23pm
Good boy... I mean the turret. :D
Ravoria May 28, 2013 @ 4:18pm
quite a few times... i even tried to bring the cube up there to take him down
toncica  [author] May 28, 2013 @ 4:17pm
Yeah, I know. In the end it was too tempting to make at least one of them a pain. I hope he killed you. ;)
Ravoria May 28, 2013 @ 3:34pm
Got it. Great puzzle, though that last turret was a pain. You know the one I mean.
toncica  [author] May 28, 2013 @ 1:00pm
Good to hear that the solution is maybe not too obvious. :) It's kind of like your Preparation map which I played last night, hidden in plain sight.
Ravoria May 28, 2013 @ 10:17am
I played this a long time ago, and it's improved incredibly. Great design, great use of elements, and it's no longer frustrating like it used to be. Kinda miss the turret at the beginning, but oh well. Can't for the life of me figure out how to get the funnel to the end, but I will make sure to at some point
