I got the email :D
BTAxis  [author] Nov 13, 2015 @ 2:11am
We've just released version 0.6.1.
BTAxis  [author] Nov 7, 2015 @ 1:07pm
It's because the URL generated by Steam includes the parentheses, for some reason.
Zachita Nov 7, 2015 @ 10:47am
I clicked on the 4 urls in the game description above that starts as "For those interested, we have wiki..."

All of them bring me to nothing. Not sure why.
BTAxis  [author] Nov 7, 2015 @ 10:32am
The website works for me. Maybe you weren't using the right url? It's naev.org.
Zachita Nov 7, 2015 @ 9:29am
Thanks for the response. Of note, I just tried going to the naev website and it was blank. Just giving you the heads up
BTAxis  [author] Nov 5, 2015 @ 4:01am
We're still around, but we're not affiliated with Endless Sky in any way.
Zachita Nov 4, 2015 @ 5:44pm
As Endless Sky was just released the other day, I was wondering if your project was still in the works and or if you had colabbed with them or anything. I'm still hopeful on a community made EV4! :D
Zachita Aug 2, 2015 @ 4:00pm
Thanks for the update Frozen. I will have to check out things in the updated form :D

I always love getting a chance to drive my escape velocity nostalgia train! haha

Also of note, if you are a die hard fan of Escape Velocity, you should check the Ambrosia forums and support someone named Delphi in making EV Delphi. It's a tc that completely remakes EV with amazing new graphics, a different in depth fighting system, whole new map/governments. It's not released yet, but if there was ever going to be a successor to EV Nova, it would be this TC. Check it out and try and show some support on those old forums.

NAEV is a beautiful space exploration/trade/combat game akin to Escape Velocity... only 100% better. I honestly cant wait to see its completion. Beautiful graphics, fantastic interface, perfect combat... there isnt a single thing i love about this game. I hope the devs keep it up, as i will personally buy a copy for myself and one for my best friend, whom i have recently gotten addicted to EV Nova.

100% recommended.
[SoX] Frozen Jul 24, 2015 @ 8:31am
NAEV latest update was March 17th, 2015. if you dont have the latest release, i suggest you grab it at http://blog.naev.org/

Aktron Mar 9, 2015 @ 11:52am

BTAxis  [author] Feb 17, 2015 @ 11:09am
We've released a new beta: 0.6.0-beta1. For details about this release:

norskimo3 Feb 12, 2015 @ 10:52pm
Yay! Another game like EV! I'm super excited! Thanks for all your hard work, guys!
Cbird Feb 6, 2015 @ 12:01pm
This is fantastic! I loved Escape Velocity growing up and no one else seems to want to make a new one including the original creators. Please please please don't quit.
Dr. Prof. Bitseys MD Feb 6, 2015 @ 6:17am
Awesome this is really exciting news!
smokingcatnip Jan 31, 2015 @ 10:39pm
Sweet! Glad to hear there's still work being done! Need a next generation EV-style sim so BAD!
BTAxis  [author] Jan 27, 2015 @ 1:33am
We're trying to get a 0.6.0 beta out soonish. It's been far too long.
Drewgamer Jan 26, 2015 @ 8:25pm
Well, I pray that means there is still hope in continued work on the project.
Zachita Jan 26, 2015 @ 3:50pm
PLEASE keep working on it! You're my last hope!!! :O lol
BTAxis  [author] Jan 26, 2015 @ 9:13am
Well, it's not exactly dead and not exactly alive. It's mostly confined to IRC at the moment.
Drewgamer Jan 25, 2015 @ 8:39pm
Is this game still alive? Doesn't seem to be much activity. I absolutely loved EV: Nova and the idea of another game like it really excites me.
Zachita Sep 15, 2014 @ 7:36am
Keep up the hard work! People wanna see another EV! haha You've already implemented severa features previous EV's never had, so you're off to a great start!
Dr. Prof. Bitseys MD Aug 2, 2014 @ 5:54am
Yes! So excited to see that Naev is still active under active work! Keep it up BTAxis!
Zeether Jul 22, 2014 @ 4:10pm
Since Ambrosia is crap and won't release EV Nova on Steam I'd gladly take this.
Shiek4d5 Jul 17, 2014 @ 12:31pm
Okay.
BTAxis  [author] Jul 16, 2014 @ 2:47am
For the time being at least ship capturing won't be a feature, sorry. The best I can give you is the usual open source rhetoric, which is that anyone can add this themselves if they want.
Shiek4d5 Jul 15, 2014 @ 6:42pm
I mean seriously, boarding ships without the chance to take it is no fun.
Shiek4d5 Jul 15, 2014 @ 6:40pm
Hey, BTAxis, Are you guys planning to add the capture ability? It's the main reason I play games like EV and Naev.
Niarbeht Jul 13, 2014 @ 4:45pm
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! \=D/

Hopefully.
BTAxis  [author] Jul 13, 2014 @ 2:57pm
Soon, hopefully!
Niarbeht Jul 13, 2014 @ 2:07pm
Still waiting for this to hit Steam =D
Shiek4d5 Jun 25, 2014 @ 10:04am
That being said I still would like to play this game.
Shiek4d5 Jun 25, 2014 @ 10:02am
@Seigi:

They made it free so they would not have to be bothered by people complaining that it isn't going fast enough. As stated in the comments above "it is a Hobby game not an Indie game", which means they will hardly work on it. If they were to recieve money for it, that would mean they would have to be dedicated to working on it. But since it is made free, they do not have to do what the public wants and will work on it when they feel like it.
Seigi Jun 19, 2014 @ 10:01am
Glad to see this greenlit. I've been wishing for a legit EV styled game, that has some more heart put into the game. Loved EV (played every version).

My only real concern is the game being free. Its been greenlit, but seems hard to believe steam would let this release it for free... then there is nothing to be gained by steam. I would gladly pay $10 for this... heck i paid 30 for every Nova game. I appreciate the heart behind freeware, especially with the width of contribution they've received, but I feel like contributers would rather see a good game successful released than see it die because they wanted to keep it free.

Free or pay, I will pick it up on steam simply to have it in my library. All the best!
richfiles May 19, 2014 @ 11:07pm
Congrats!
Both on being green lit, and on UTTERLY DESTROYING my sleeping patterns! XD
Love the game! :P
palc May 15, 2014 @ 4:43pm
yeah what a nice surprise. grats to all fellow devs :)
Dak May 15, 2014 @ 7:57am
You +1 Loyal Follower

Me:
*Space Pirates & Zombies = "meh". Evochron Merc, Spaceforce: Rogue Uni, Star Wolves 1-3, Zigfrak, Kinetic Void, Star Ruler, AI War Fleet Comm, and Armada 2526 (+whatever I forgot)
were all "almost there".

**Playing currently: Smugglers V, Space Rangers HD AWA, FTL, Distant Worlds, StarDrive, Endless Space, and yes, EVE-Online.
***Looking forward to games like: The Mandate, and Star Citizen

Multiplayer fans; check out Stellar Impact
It is a GREAT game, even with all its DotA-like-ness, but multiplayer only, and only lacking in people to play it last I checked.

NAEV comments:
I loved all the Escape Velocity games (have Nova installed currently and play it some still), and having played NAEV now, the controls, interface layout, gameplay etc all very similar and so easy to learn/jump right in! :).
The differences I've seen are all great ones!
BTAxis  [author] May 14, 2014 @ 3:28pm
We've been greenlit! Wow. That came out of the blue.
se_latrevo_rebbie May 13, 2014 @ 2:25pm
Combat seems kind of like Star Control series
richfiles May 10, 2014 @ 7:00pm
Also, I rather LIKE the idea that you have to find hyperjump gates, either by talking with locals, buying the info, or finding them yourself. Adds a degree of realism to the exploration of the universe! I'll agree with another comment here... Writing. That is the biggest thing. There needs to be VASTLY GREATER amounts of variety, and you need to work harder to earn trust, or avoid situations that would far too easily loose trust.
richfiles May 10, 2014 @ 6:56pm
I just wanna say... You guys have the MOST EPIC error messages in any game I've ever encountered! XD

The stars shift color and go out, and the all encompassing booming voice of the creator calls down, rattling your bones... and asks if you're doing okay! LOL!!! You guys rock! :)
BTAxis  [author] May 8, 2014 @ 11:21am
There may or may not be an update soonish. We're currently trying to get another version out the door if only so you don't have to get the git version to use the latest features.
Spectrevil May 7, 2014 @ 3:42pm
This was a really nice thing. I used to play it a lot when I was with Fedora. It was very promissing, but it seems that their dev time forgot the project a long time ago... the last entry in their official webpage was on Nov 2012 :(
AshraelAK May 6, 2014 @ 11:12pm
Loved Escape Velocity, this game has me all nostalgic
