I subbed to all Character Creation Overhaul mods and it scared the shit outa me when the guardian stones werent there at the start of a new game

@Teschmacher: Use the help console command. Type 'help A New Beginning' and it will give you the Item ID.

I say this for all Syclonix[s Over haul mods and will post on each of them. Great work and I give two thumbs up and favorite on making better NPC's for Skyrim. Keep up the good work Syclonix. You have my vote.

Great mod! I too run with Random Alternate Start, and have never seen the "New Beginning" b ook. No problem though - it just means I have to be sure of my choice from the outset :)

I found this out recently that there where standing stones that let you change your birthsign in Oblivion (previous game) all over the place. But still a great idea!

It must be something with the starting kits in RAS, beacuse I use Live Another Life (No offence to you or your excellent mod, but I'm a huge RPer and if im making a charecter whos mabey an Alik'r just entering skyrim i dont want to end up in riftin or something) and it works well.

but I started a new character with Random Alternate Start on, and with it off.

with RAS on I didn't have the book, with it off I had the book =(

I found out why my book was missing, I never had it, I'm also using a random start location mod that randomizes starting gear too apparently.

@Syclonix I like this addition to the overhaul mod you've made, however you need to take into consideration one thing, the Aetherium Crown added with the Dragonborn DLC. The Aetherium Crown allows you to carry the effects of 2 standing stones at once by storing the effects of the second choice in the crown. I am unaware how this mod will affect that but it might be something worth looking into.

Just as a thought, what if instead of flat-out removing the standing stones, it changed their effect?

For example, I choose the lover birth sign and I go to the shadow stone and activate it. I don't change birth signs, but instead I get a temporary, watered down effect, kind of like a blessing from the shrines.

Well this mod changes it to permanent birthsigns like I said was in Oblivion, by removing the standing stone yet again like Oblivion. I did not mean the whole entire mod collection.

Your mod customizes everything right from the class. In Oblivion the customization began when you picked you birthsign. But its almost identical, the stats may be different but its obvious you've put a lot of thought and effort into your mods. Many will be grateful.

Thank you polar.bear.79! I don't recall ever being able to create a custom birthsign, but you can certainly create a custom class using the main Character Creation Overhaul mod.

@nocash: You are correct. A Woodelf specialized in Stealth with Pickpocket and Lockpicking as major skills would have +30% skill progression in both Pickpocketing and Lockpicking. As mentioned before, if you want to keep the overall leveling speed of vanilla Skyrim while keeping the relative differences please use Elys's Community Uncapper mod[] to slow down overall leveling to ~80%.

@muzzagraham: No, CCO - Permanent Birthsigns is just an optional module for the main Character Creation Overhaul mod which brings back custom class creation. CCO - Permanent Birthsigns simply makes it so that once you select a birthsign using the main CCO mod, you cannot change your birthsign again. This is done simply by removing standing stones from the game.

This is great if you prefer the way it was done in Oblivion. I didn't see a "custom" birth sign. I always liked creating my own. I'm not so sure one way or the other is better...just which you prefer. But its nice to have the option. Thanks for all the hard work...good job.

@Syclonix I think I must not be understanding something about your CCO mod woks. Wouldn't a Wood Elf specialized in Stealth with Pickpocket and Lockpicking as major skills have +30% training speed in both Pickpocketing and Lockpicking (and maybe even a few others)?

Hi Nocash, the most a skill can be maxed out to is 35% and only ONE skill can reach that high a level. Most skills are around 5-10% and remember you have a total of 18 skills. Only 6 can be chosen as major skills.

This serves to give a sense of relatively faster progression for the major skills you have chosen. It also means that your level progression across the board is ~15%-20% faster, but this can be corrected by slowing down overall leveling speed by 15-20% using Ely's Community Uncapper mod:

I think it would be pretty common for a skill like sneak or one-handed to be affected by racial, specialization, major skill, and standing stone bonuses, causing it to train 50-55% faster right from the beginning of the game. I haven't tried the mod yet, so I can't speak from first-hand experience, but wouldn't that cause some balance issue? Or have you found that to not be the case?
