cool game

I think that a Character Selection and a 3 minute timed round perk and maybe a Team fight would be a good inclusion to this game.
Marky_Mark 7 jan 2014 om 7:59nm
I recommend this game. For $5.00 it's good value and alot of fun.

Hey just wanted you guys to know I started a gaming social network just for gamers and game developers. I would love it if Beast Boxing joined and made their own group on there. Also I will soon be creating a fan page section!

It's about time this gets Greenlit. It immediately becomes one of the best games on Steam, indie or otherwise. Highly recommended.

Love this game, have it over on Desura. Would love it on Steam. Too bad about the confusion regarding the different versions.

Too bad about Greenlight too. There's no reason this game isn't on the Steam store yet.
radar2670 6 aug 2013 om 12:15nm
@goodhustle Thank you for clearing up the confusion over the OUYA vs PC. I will admit that the mixed dicussion of both version did cause me to think that the PC version did have IAP's.

My distrust of most if not all game developers as of late come from the numerous times I have been burned by purchasing a game only to find out it either had microtransaction or were forced in later even after doing extensive research before purchase. It has gotten so bad that now when someone says you can purchase something ingame you have to specify real world or in game money. That is when the distrust come from. It was not aimed at you specifcly. More the entire industry as of late. I could have worded that better.

Again sorry for the confusion. So that being said, I will go and download the demo and give it a go. If I enjoy it, I will come back and change my vote to yes.
Vault Boy 6 aug 2013 om 9:41vm
Gordon get this Greenlit man! Dying to add it to my Steam library.

@Game Coding Ninja balance is difficult to nail perfectly. When the game had easier gameplay by default players complained up and down that it was too short and also boring. The difficulty level is targeted towards desktop players (and not mobile players where those difficulty heuristics you mentioned are the norm) whom I believed would be interested in a retro-action boxing game like the classics, which were no cakewalk. Again, there's no IAP whatsoever in the PC/Mac version, and the difficulty level is tuned already independently of IAP. I'm sorry that you feel taken advantage of and I'll take your advice of introducing another easier difficulty level under consideration, but I can't guarantee it because I think it would make the game less rewarding to play.
goodhustle  [auteur] 5 aug 2013 om 10:07nm
@radar2670, I understand why you may be confused, but I don't really appreciate the suspicion. Game Coding Ninja was complaining about the design of the OUYA version whose store prevents you from charging for games; it's IAP only on the entire platform. The Steam Greenlight page here is strictly about the PC/Mac version which has no IAPs. I don't know how I can be any more clear. It just seems to confuse people when we get derailed talking about the OUYA version here, so from now onwards I'm going to just delete any comments that don't specifically address the PC version. If you have suggestions for other platforms just contact me directly or use some other forum for that. I'll let the below comments stand for context.
radar2670 4 aug 2013 om 8:21nm
If you do not put in the desription that the game has IAPs I will instantly vote no not matter how intereting I may find the game. If you are hiding the fact the game has IAP's. What else are you hiding?
Game Coding Ninja 30 jul 2013 om 3:53nm
Unfortunately due to the brutally hard difficulty on normal, the game changes your motivation from working on technique to hoarding coins, which you conveniently have available for sale. I could understand if this was a "free to play" game and this was your “only” revenue mechanism but not for a purchased game.

Also, why does loosing to the newest opponent pay more in coins then winning exhibition matches against the previous opponent? I can understand needing to grind a bit because I need to level up to better compete. Instead I'm motivated to exploit the system by intentionally loosing match after match, to the newest opponent, to acquire more coins to level up, in the hopes to finally hold my own against them.

As for difficulty, easy should be so that kids can play. Normal should be for your average gamer. What is currently normal should really be labeled as hard. Then you could add other levels of hard like very hard or insane.
blacky 30 jul 2013 om 1:27nm
Many items and upgrades, new game plus up to 7, some cool enemies and fighting system which is easy to pick up but hard to master. Really fun game. I found the difficulty really challenging but not unbeatable which is nice and there is also easy mode. Here's short gameplay video i have made: Mix + Gameplay
goodhustle  [auteur] 29 jul 2013 om 10:10nm
@Game Coding Ninja, sorry to hear that. In the OUYA version, the enemy stats and gameplay are the exact same in the PC / Mac version (advertised here) which has no IAP at all. In fact, the game is just supposed to be hard, as the description in the OUYA store and the intro states. I'm open to doing some difficulty tuning but I've gotten some good feedback that this level of difficulty is enjoyable for many players. If it's too tough, I'd suggest trying the easier setting. It will still be hard, but just not as brutally hard, and winning the game is still worthy of respect.
Game Coding Ninja 29 jul 2013 om 9:55nm
I purchased this game on OUYA but now I'm having buyers remorse. You upgrade your skills with coins won in matches but the monster's levels are so high, you really don't stand a chance. The real motive behind this is to get you to purchase additional coins from them to upgrade your character. Now that I know their real goal, I feel taken advantage of.

Dear Valve, Greenlight this game already! It's amazing and there are no similar titles on Steam. Plus you can punch a turkey in the face. IN. THE. FACE.

It looks pretty cool, I dig the art style and the Monster Boxing deal, plus Punch-Out!! stands high on my list as a retro hipster. But, I take issue with the completely first person perspective and the design of the player character. It looks more like the devs were going for hentai fodder or forced progressiveness in having a lithe little waifu their main protaganist. In a game like this, where there's skill customization and gear selection and stuff, the story is probably not so important that it necessitates a static protag. The ability to change your human would be great. I, personally, don't want to play as a chick that the internet's going to draw getting raped by the various monsters she combats.
HentaiHeroKyo 18 jun 2013 om 8:33nm
For those of us who remember the great fun of the "Punch-Out" titles of yesteryear, Beast Boxing Turbo is an excellent homage to a game style that is extremely fun yet sadly underserved. I bought it for the Ouya and direct, but I'd love to see it come to Steam. All it needs is a Linux version...and a sequel!

Fighting the second fighter and noticed that there is zero feedback for blocking punches. It looks like the other fighter is missing but your health bar goes down. Should not be designed this way. Upvoted anyway.
