Glad you are taking your time though. So many trashy rogue-like games, claustrophobia is worth waiting for!

"Some day on Steam" should be our tagline...

In all seriousness, I really hope to get a playable build out within the next month or so. Thanks for all the support everyone!

Every single dev log is so great. I haven't played in months, and can't wait to pick it up again... someday on steam...
korefuji 27. jun @ 7:09pm
great game - please greenlight it!

nice world !

Sounds like someone just wants a free source code for his own personal benefit. Real devs don't ask for handouts, they do it themselves.
Le Jibs 18. mai @ 4:23pm
I've been playing it on desura and I'm loving it, minor bugs aside it's solid. Waiting to get my hands on the new update
Joker Mole 28. mar @ 1:25am
No source code is too broken to work with but it is of course completely your right to not release it. I just would have liked the opportunity to fix the bugs that annoy me in it.
The Indie Forge  [skaper] 27. mar @ 7:39pm
@graspee: My issue is that I believe games released onto Steam should be of a certain quality, which the old version, in my eyes, is not. The whole reason I restarted the project was to give everyone who wanted to play the best experience I could, and at the point I had reached, I could no longer work with that version. It was just that much of a mess.
In terms of the graphics, the new engine was built from the start to use new systems such as particle effects and sprite manipulation for the animations - something the old graphics simply would not work with.
As soon as it's ready, the new version will be sent out to all previous buyers. I apologise that the time between the last update and the next will be fairly lengthy, but I hope that in the long term it will be worth it. I'm afraid I will not release the old source code - it's just too broken to work with.
Joker Mole 26. mar @ 11:30pm
Surely the sensible thing to do would have been to put the original game as it was on steam but then work on rewriting it, but make sure that the new game/engine could support using the old sprites?
I'm stuck with this old version on desura with bugs and annoyances, mostly related to using the keyboard. I know there's no way you would let me have access to the source so I could fix it, but I thought I'd ask anyway, rl dev to rl dev.

@graspee: I'm sorry you feel that way. Please allow me to explain my side of the story. Plans to remake Claustrophobia began in early November last year, with the announcement going out in December. At that point, our Greenlight campaign had been sitting firmly on 50% for almost 6 months. I had absolutely no reason to believe that the project in its current state would ever be Greenlit. Then, 3 weeks later, I recieved an email from Indie Royale, who asked if I wanted to place Claustrophobia in one of their bundles. I accepted, and insured a message was added saying that the game was in the process of being redesigned. Within a week, we had been Greenlit, with a massive influx of votes. It was indeed the original version that was Greenlit, but I am not changing how the game plays. What's changed is the entirety of the code (which was inefficient), and the graphic style. Those changes, I am aware, are taste dependant. But that's no different from the evolution of any other Alpha game.
Joker Mole 26. mar @ 1:12pm
I think it's kind of cheating to get greenlit and then instead of putting that game on steam you completely re-write it from scratch with all new code and different graphics. Speaking for myself I prefer the original graphics to the new ones. Should it really be ok to get people's votes for a game and then completely change how it looks?
K-77 4. mar @ 7:09pm
Doesn't suprise me it got greenlit, I already know that when I first time played this game :) I'm silently counting on more crafting options in final release.
R4gegamingstudios 3. feb @ 10:22am
Congrats you got greenlit!

Thanks so much to everyone for supporting Claustrophobia! All previous owners of the game on Desura (Desura purchase, bundle, or otherwise) will receive a Steam key on launch. Launch will be as soon as I'm happy with the current version.

Hi there. I voted when I purchased the bundle but I couldn't remember what was on the bundle page and wondered if people who bought Indie Royale Debut 8 would get steam keys after Greenlight? Thank you.

Looks like a much improved upgrade from Dreadmor, hopefully it avoids the flaws that game had (i.e. hardly any floors and suddenly beating the game with a massive stash of treasure you never even had to use).
marioman99hatena 6. jan @ 4:08pm
This looks very cool... I hope they make it for Mac though :/
Beoby 6. jan @ 3:24pm
C'mon , why the game is not accepted now. After 250 comments , it's normaly a good game.
Maxdamage [ A.F ] 4. jan @ 3:30pm
:/ will there be Respawn?? im thinking there won't... if so could you add toggle options to enable or disable Respawn and certain things you like and don't like?
Kvantor 3. jan @ 11:23pm
Не видел еще полноценных игр сделанных на движке Browser Quest. Куплю именно поэтому!
Arathel 3. jan @ 7:27pm
Well done for copying Dreadmor to a tee. Would buy if Dreadmor didn't exist.

Brian_Farnet 28. des, 2013 @ 12:08pm
Everybody wants to make a Dredmor these days, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Upvoted.

@The Indie Forge: I would love tell You how to make it work with a gamepad, but my alpha version of the game is not working in Windows 8.1 But after seeing Yours "Alpha Trailer" I think it's possible to work it with a pad. D-pad for the cursors actions. A button for action [attack, pick up, move, wear/use item]. B button for canceling action, shutting down alchemy window. X button use spell. RT and LT to change spell [the 1-6 bar over the stats] and for switching tabs. RB for eq [cursor from the main screen will move to the eq window where you can move thanks D-pad - using the button again will give back your cursor to the main screen]. LB can be for the eq management. start for the game menu. I think i have miss the Y button... AND... something like that i see for the game as awesome option to control the game. P.S. A game from my wish list would me nice =P
The Indie Forge  [skaper] 28. des, 2013 @ 5:32am
@KaX: Not currently. I'm not sure that would work too well considering how mouse-driven gameplay is.
@Inquisitive Duck: Not at all, all of the game's graphics are my own work. They will soon be getting a major revamp too.
Inquisitive Duck 28. des, 2013 @ 5:10am
Some art assets used in this game look very familiar. I'm guessing this game uses some public domain assets?
clawman2200 27. des, 2013 @ 3:47pm
Looks great
KaX 27. des, 2013 @ 3:37pm
Will it have gamepad support??
The Indie Forge  [skaper] 27. des, 2013 @ 3:03pm
@Sin: All purchases through Desura are guaranteed a Steam key.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

If we buy the game elsewhere now, do we get a steam key once it's greenlit? I see other greenlight games doing this, are you?
The Indie Forge  [skaper] 17. des, 2013 @ 8:14am
Hello guys! Just posted an announcement explaining exactly what's going on with Claustrophobia. Go check it out!

MikeB made a video on this game today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy4SH7NSMw

He loves it. I agree with him so it's really disapointing that the development is so slow. I bought it ages ago when it popped up on Desura.
