No source code is too broken to work with but it is of course completely your right to not release it. I just would have liked the opportunity to fix the bugs that annoy me in it.

@graspee: My issue is that I believe games released onto Steam should be of a certain quality, which the old version, in my eyes, is not. The whole reason I restarted the project was to give everyone who wanted to play the best experience I could, and at the point I had reached, I could no longer work with that version. It was just that much of a mess.
In terms of the graphics, the new engine was built from the start to use new systems such as particle effects and sprite manipulation for the animations - something the old graphics simply would not work with.
As soon as it's ready, the new version will be sent out to all previous buyers. I apologise that the time between the last update and the next will be fairly lengthy, but I hope that in the long term it will be worth it. I'm afraid I will not release the old source code - it's just too broken to work with.

Surely the sensible thing to do would have been to put the original game as it was on steam but then work on rewriting it, but make sure that the new game/engine could support using the old sprites?
I'm stuck with this old version on desura with bugs and annoyances, mostly related to using the keyboard. I know there's no way you would let me have access to the source so I could fix it, but I thought I'd ask anyway, rl dev to rl dev.

@graspee: I'm sorry you feel that way. Please allow me to explain my side of the story. Plans to remake Claustrophobia began in early November last year, with the announcement going out in December. At that point, our Greenlight campaign had been sitting firmly on 50% for almost 6 months. I had absolutely no reason to believe that the project in its current state would ever be Greenlit. Then, 3 weeks later, I recieved an email from Indie Royale, who asked if I wanted to place Claustrophobia in one of their bundles. I accepted, and insured a message was added saying that the game was in the process of being redesigned. Within a week, we had been Greenlit, with a massive influx of votes. It was indeed the original version that was Greenlit, but I am not changing how the game plays. What's changed is the entirety of the code (which was inefficient), and the graphic style. Those changes, I am aware, are taste dependant. But that's no different from the evolution of any other Alpha game.

I think it's kind of cheating to get greenlit and then instead of putting that game on steam you completely re-write it from scratch with all new code and different graphics. Speaking for myself I prefer the original graphics to the new ones. Should it really be ok to get people's votes for a game and then completely change how it looks?

Looks like a much improved upgrade from Dreadmor, hopefully it avoids the flaws that game had (i.e. hardly any floors and suddenly beating the game with a massive stash of treasure you never even had to use).

@The Indie Forge: I would love tell You how to make it work with a gamepad, but my alpha version of the game is not working in Windows 8.1 But after seeing Yours "Alpha Trailer" I think it's possible to work it with a pad. D-pad for the cursors actions. A button for action [attack, pick up, move, wear/use item]. B button for canceling action, shutting down alchemy window. X button use spell. RT and LT to change spell [the 1-6 bar over the stats] and for switching tabs. RB for eq [cursor from the main screen will move to the eq window where you can move thanks D-pad - using the button again will give back your cursor to the main screen]. LB can be for the eq management. start for the game menu. I think i have miss the Y button... AND... something like that i see for the game as awesome option to control the game. P.S. A game from my wish list would me nice =P
