Sounds funny and interesting, but the graphics are a bit messy.
DeRail Games  [Δημιουργός] 7 May 2013 @ 3:49am
The combat is based on puzzles, when you encounter an enemy you will be presented by several options. You have to figure out what will be the correct option for each enemy, a typically setup is 3-4 choices. In bigger battles you will have to make strategies choices. Having said that, the combat is not the focus in this game, and there is not much combat to find. The core interactive elements are making choices that affect the storyline.

I didn't see any actual gameplay in the video. Is the combat turn based or hack n slash, etc.?
ManifestoX 14 Apr 2013 @ 10:46pm
looks dumb to me
Sarakkas 28 Mar 2013 @ 12:43pm

cool NORWEGIAN game
Arawanach 9 Feb 2013 @ 10:20am
One of the more unique games that I played that year. Okey, I take that back. It's probably the most unique game I played last year.
Dagit 22 Jan 2013 @ 9:40pm
This looks awesome.
Catscratch 16 Jan 2013 @ 8:02am
Loosk pretty Looks pretty nice!
I'd suggest adding more language support and multi-OS support if possible upon release, though.
Son Of Bhaal 12 Jan 2013 @ 7:34am
looks good tbh, love the concept and story but if yor already released then no vote from me :) i will go get the game i think though.
Chibini 6 Jan 2013 @ 3:47am
@ Campaigner It's only a parody on the surface. The core story is vert unique and original. ;)
Campaigner 5 Jan 2013 @ 3:16pm
Don't like parodies.

Sounds like Hack mixed with Sword Art Online. Not sure how I feel about this.

Thank you for voting and commenting guys. Remember to check out the demo or buy the game at gamersgate or one of the other game portals. If you want to have a look at the game without downloading anything you can watch Rock’s LP videos, there are 15 episodes out at the moment, and he will play through at least one complete story branch. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb-TRGfslBX8RIbGI_SBdtRU0T5Fchi4Y

Don't be so childish Khilkov. If it's made well then it's still worthy of a vote, a lot of hard work can go into a RPGmaker game. To The Moon is a game made using RPGmaker and it's a bloody fantastic game at that, don't decry the engine somebody uses because in that respect anybody using Unity, Ogre or any other aren't making their "own damn game".
Mobeta^ 11 Dec 2012 @ 6:11pm
RPGmaker = instant downvote. Make your own damn game.
vector 9 Dec 2012 @ 12:08pm
Yes, I have played such a game... it was called .hack. The color is way too... bright? Uncontrasted? Poorly tuned? For me to upvote this... sorry. Looks interesting, though.
Shubean 9 Dec 2012 @ 10:08am
I've recently just finished the demo for this game, and I really would like to see more! I want to know more about the combat mostly. It's such an interesting concept and I hope that it can do what .hack couldn't- make a fun game within a game!
DeRail Games  [Δημιουργός] 8 Dec 2012 @ 2:20am
Great to hear that you remembered it! If anyone would like to have a look at the first 40 minutes of the game you can watch Indie Access’s introduction to Shadow of the Game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK5fb4ZJ-RY

Oh wow, I remember seeing this in the game compo at TG12
Target 6 Dec 2012 @ 10:48am
Just played the demo of this after the release of it came up in my Desura news feed. Ran out of demo and found myself pre-ordering and upvoting and favouriting on here!
DeRail Games  [Δημιουργός] 6 Dec 2012 @ 10:05am
Lost the game;) Thank you for voting and commenting everyone. Happy news, Shadow of the Game is available on over 60 game portals at the moment, but we need your help to reach Steam.
Kangajuice 4 Dec 2012 @ 4:13pm
Made me loose the game...
MickMC7 2 Dec 2012 @ 1:37pm
I love the concept.
Kaizerko, the Shadow Fiend 29 Nov 2012 @ 8:18am
This is a very interesting concept. I feel like it got a lot of inspiration from the original .hack// games. I very much look forward to it's release.
MacEff 21 Nov 2012 @ 8:27am
Nice concept
thejoche 19 Nov 2012 @ 8:20pm

I went to see the let's play. Seemingly, the game is more about adventure and storytelling than classical RPG.
There are pretty nice musics, the animations are not bad and their timing is good.
There is humor, suspense, and the downtime are you rarely feel bored (rarely).
There are enough custom made graphics to suit the story needs, but not enough to refresh the RPG Maker style.
I only saw the four first Let's Play videos, so I do'nt know if some gameplay actully kicks in at later times, wich might change my mind.
For what I've seen of it - wich is not much - I find it enteretaining, well-made, but not fun enough for me to pay for it. Not the price of a regular game at least. So I will refrain from voting.

Thanks for voting and commenting guys! If you would like to see how Shadow of the Game Plays, rockenroll4life is doing a Lets Play Shadow of the Game series on YouTube. He has 4 episodes out now, they are quite amusing. Check them out here, but be aware of major spoilers: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb-TRGfslBX8RIbGI_SBdtRU0T5Fchi4Y
IndieRetroNews 18 Oct 2012 @ 2:08am
The art style isn't for me :(
sylvara 16 Oct 2012 @ 1:21pm
At 0.99$, yes I'd buy it...
Chibini 15 Oct 2012 @ 2:47pm
@Churgetoth It's both actually. You can' make a memorable game without some comedy and tragedy mixed in a blender! That's my impression of the game anyway!
Zoid 14 Oct 2012 @ 10:12pm
If this is a porody of the kind of really terrible rpgs that appear on greenlight, then I applaud you. If this is a real game, then it's even more tragic than I thought. Either way, downvote.
Kana 14 Oct 2012 @ 1:59pm
RPGmakerXP. no.
DeRail Games  [Δημιουργός] 4 Oct 2012 @ 3:11am
@Hilary Arawanach and Jhaeme are not part of the development team=) However, we know that Arawanach have had access to an early build of the game during our alpha and beta sessions along with several other hundred people and have provided us with useful feedback. It is also obvious that Jhaeme have played the alpha or beta. We appreciate their help and enthusiasm, are they our friends? Definitely!
Hilary 4 Oct 2012 @ 2:01am
I suspect that Arawanach and Jhaeme are either from the development team or friends with them.
Riddle 2 Oct 2012 @ 11:40am
"Have you ever played an MMO in a single player game?"

Yes. The .hack series on the Playstation 2.

Thank you for your votes and comments. Keep it up! Here is a little blog update on Shadow of the game: http://gamasutra.com/blogs/BjornarHerstad/20120929/178524/Steam_Greenlight__In_the_Shadow_of_the_Games.php
Jhaeme 28 Sep 2012 @ 3:24pm
Whoops; premature posting...anyway, this isn't actually anything like a typical RPGMAKER game.....these characters and some backgrounds look nothing like the generated RPGM ones; they may have utilized the bones, but did put their own brand 'of awesomeness' in there......just sayin'. I, for one, think it just adds to the satire itself, which was probably intentional. Obviously, the poster below didn't even watch the video or read anything.
Jhaeme 28 Sep 2012 @ 3:06pm
Shit; thought this would have been greenlit by now. Wish I could vote more than once on some of these....the idea is fresh, and the writing is great. Hope to see it on Steam....but honestly, the BF and myself will get copies elsewhere if it doesn't. Good luck!

@DarkByNight....I was thinking the same thing! I thought Greenlight was to help indie game devs; most of which probably can neither afford, nor even WANT 'fantastic 3-D graphics'......aren't there a million of those already on the market? I guess there is just no accounting for taste or creativity with some people....and yet the need to just riff and run without anything useful being said is very telling. *cough*troll*cough*
Arawanach 28 Sep 2012 @ 9:48am
I like this game and it doesn't have bad graphics. They just decided to not go for realism. They are actually making retro games. However, if you think back to the time when what now is known as retro. This game has much better graphics than those old school games. When that is said. This game doesn't actually feels much like a game except for some puzzles. Calling it a game is not really how I would have tough of this. I think more of it like an interactive adventure. The most interesting fact is that this game doesn't give you straight answer to much, so you actually needs to think and figure out how everything fits together. I have played it several times and I still don't get it completely... but I start getting some ideas.
DarkByNight 26 Sep 2012 @ 8:35am
Putamierdanomeconvences! You keep "downvoting" (your no thank you's do not actually do anything, so there is no point telling everyone about them if you are not going to give proper feedback) every greenlight which does not have top notch 3D graphics, and yes, I have been seeing you around greenlight much more than I'd like and have noticed which games you do not like, which is most of them.
May I ask, why are you here, when you clearly have no interest in any game without fantastic 3D graphics?
GromitJK 25 Sep 2012 @ 12:11am
reminds me of World of World of Warcraft ;-)

Chaosprower; Roleplaying games do not require combat even though most have it, it does require roleplaying though. If you look at puzzle pirates for example, which is an MMORPG, there is combat, both on sea and land, but the combat is handled through puzzles.
Roleplaying has more to do with the choices a player makes than it does character customization, powering up and combat.
