I also would love to see this include a server key so it can be used in multiplayer.
Crowdedlight Nov 24, 2021 @ 10:04am
Could I persuade you to include the signed key in the published mod files under a "keys" directory, like most other mods. This would make your mod compatible with our automated server scripts.
Feint  [author] Apr 11, 2021 @ 10:46am
This is only client-side.
Orphan Crippler Apr 8, 2021 @ 8:07am
Can this be added as a client-side mod?
Pew Pew Mar 10, 2020 @ 9:22pm
ah i see. that might be a little problem for my joystick haha. anyways thanks for the help.
Great mod.
Feint  [author] Mar 10, 2020 @ 8:20pm
Ohhhh, that's actually a limitation of CBA. Only keystrokes can be assigned to functions via CBA. All addons that use CBA have this limitation. Not sure why. But if you have a programmable joystick, just assign the keystroke in Arma like Shift Ctrl Alt H or whatever, and then go into your joystick software and assign the button you want to press to execute that keystroke(s). I do this with my joystick and it works really well. It's a small pain to set up, but works fine. Of course, you have to have a programmable joystick.
Pew Pew Mar 9, 2020 @ 11:54pm
@Feint. I actually meant that my joystick button input does not register when addon mapping.
(IE joystickbutton4 dosent appear when mapping for in the configure VTOL/FLAPS addons tab)

when using with Full keyboard controls, the addon works perfectly.

tbh, i figured it was stupid in the first place to do mixed controls considering you used a custom script so yea sorry bout my earlier comment. I figured crosscompaitability would not be possible
Feint  [author] Mar 9, 2020 @ 12:04pm
@Pew Pew Try assigning the controls to two keys on your keyboard and see if the addon still works. If it does, then the issue is with your joystick programming. Please note that some joysticks have alternate ways in which they execute a programmed control. For example, some buttons may send one keystroke, while other buttons may send that keystroke repeatedly, while other buttons may only send a keystroke when you disable the button. Currently this addon works perfectly for me. Also, make sure you follow step 4 above.
Pew Pew Mar 9, 2020 @ 6:08am
The addon dosent work with my logitech joystick button inputs for some reason.
I'd preferred if the addon work together with the base game's controls and vtol controls. because currently when enabling base flaps would not de trigger the vectoring controls.

Thank you!
Feint  [author] Oct 3, 2019 @ 10:37pm
Yeah, if you have a programmable joystick, you can have dedicated buttons for the nacelles and the flaps and you don't have to worry about the stupid "auto vectoring" button, which I always found unimmersive and confusing.
Mr.X Oct 3, 2019 @ 8:06pm
So, does this mod fix the confusing control that is of the Blackfish and the X-44? Where you have to land like a plane instead of a helicopter?
Feint  [author] Sep 16, 2019 @ 4:05pm
Many mod makers have been using a different program to create their PBOs and this adds the bikey as a separate folder during that process which can be easily included with the upload. But since I typically have been using the PBO creating program supplied by Bohemia Interactive, it doesn't do that automatically. So it would be an extra step for me. And anyway, if you read the description, the download link for the bikey is right there. A few people have complained to me about this, and I might change how I do things. But I haven't been working on Arma for a while, so it hasn't come up yet. So for now, just download the bikey from the description. Takes 2 seconds.

If you figure out what's not working correctly, let me know.
mwpowelllde Sep 16, 2019 @ 11:40am
Re: F-35B, do I read that issue correctly, would not work with that platform?
mwpowelllde Sep 16, 2019 @ 11:39am
I'm not positive. However, I do wonder, why not package the bikey as part of the mod itself? This seems customary these days, and is necessary for hosted servers in order to identify the mod as either required or optional. As contrasted with a separate bikey download.
Feint  [author] May 4, 2019 @ 6:23pm
Ugh, really? What is it doing?
mwpowelllde May 3, 2019 @ 8:31pm
needs updating apparently since CBA updated?
Feint  [author] Feb 9, 2019 @ 10:03pm

John Solid Feb 6, 2019 @ 4:57pm
Hello! How does one bind this to a joystick?
Feint  [author] Nov 29, 2018 @ 3:47pm
No prob. Good luck.
Goose Nov 28, 2018 @ 3:33am
Thx m8 appreciate it :)
Feint  [author] Nov 27, 2018 @ 5:51pm
If you have a programmable joystick, then you can assign a keyboard key for the controls. Then use your joystick software to activate that keystroke when you hit a specific button on your joystick.
Goose Nov 25, 2018 @ 12:18am
Can the keys be adjusted for a joystick? Sorry if it was written down somewhere just didnt have the time to read it.
Feint  [author] Nov 21, 2018 @ 1:17pm
Yeah, it seems really strange on their part since the commands all exist and it would be more efficient to hard code it. But either way, I'm glad the commands exist so we can do this.
Wastl Nov 21, 2018 @ 7:19am
The fact that this isn't in the Vanilla game is just ridicilous, flying VTOLs with the Action Menu is a pain in the arse
Feint  [author] Aug 2, 2018 @ 4:23pm
yes
Ambross Jul 13, 2018 @ 5:29pm
Hey is this mod client side
Feint  [author] May 11, 2018 @ 5:11pm
Oh good. Glad it works now.
Roger the Shrubber May 9, 2018 @ 4:03am
Well, for now i just got everyone on server to use it and it works fine. :p
Feint  [author] May 8, 2018 @ 10:00pm
Hmm, very strange. If you have any error messages, let me know. Otherwise, I'm not sure why it would not work for you.
Roger the Shrubber May 7, 2018 @ 2:58am
Yeah, perfectly
Feint  [author] May 6, 2018 @ 8:44pm
Does it work when running the same mods and missions in single player for you?
Roger the Shrubber May 6, 2018 @ 3:59pm
Weird, when only i have it enabled and i'm hosting KP Altis Liberation for my friends, i can't use the mod. :C
Feint  [author] May 6, 2018 @ 3:55pm
It's clientside.
Roger the Shrubber May 6, 2018 @ 10:49am
Can it be fully clientside? Or everyone on server needs it?
John Solid Apr 26, 2018 @ 7:33pm
A thankyou so much!
Feint  [author] Apr 26, 2018 @ 6:58pm
* Set a keyboard key for the action you want to control in Arma
* Go to Target GUI
* Select the joystick input you want to use
* Use the same key
* Test

Thrustmaster's Target GUI is a little strange, but once you read the manual and play with it for a while, it works very nicely for programming.
John Solid Apr 23, 2018 @ 5:50pm
Em, I have a Hotas Thrustmaster, is there a way where I can bind the controls to it? Its not working for me, all I can use is Keyboard
Feint  [author] Dec 13, 2017 @ 6:33pm
I'll add your suggestion to my list of requested changes. The problem with the UserActions is that there are very few of them and different mods compete for them. So one mod might use UserAction 1 to do something and another mod might use UserAction 1 to do something else. Then players complain that they want me to use UserAction 20-24 instead, but those are being used by another mod...etc. CBA gets around that problem.
Hatsune Miku Dec 8, 2017 @ 8:31pm
Hi, could you possibly allow the 4 keybinds to be configured to the "Custom Controls" > "Use Action #..." list as an alternative, so not to rely on CBA input? I'm using an older joystick and the software for it is absolute garbage.
Feint  [author] Oct 20, 2017 @ 5:59pm
Yeah, same thing happens with me. You can lower the amount of fuel in the aircraft which helps. But really the aircraft needs a lot more power. I would reach out the CUP to see if they can modify it. I looked into seeing if I could figure out how to adjust the power output and VTOL behavior, but it was too complicated for me and I lost motivation.
Lone wolf Oct 18, 2017 @ 9:47am
Only i would like to know if happen the same with Cup harrier with you or others here. i would like to discard isnt a compatibility issue with another addon or mod i have
Lone wolf Oct 18, 2017 @ 9:44am
Thanks for the mod Feint . good to know the issue is not your mod , probably is something related with the harrier port to this arma3 engine cause the vtol in harrier in arma1 and arma2 work perfect in vertical landing.
Feint  [author] Oct 18, 2017 @ 9:20am
Talk to Arma. That's how they designed the Harrier. Or talk to CUP as they might be able to change the power of the engines of the Harrier or the wonky behavior of the VTOL position when the aircraft is on the ground and below a certain speed. It might be engine-based, not sure. Either way, it's not a problem with my mod.
Lone wolf Oct 17, 2017 @ 4:08pm
very good but i have problems with CUP harriers. They dont take off with vtol. look like the engines dont have enough strong to take off. when im doing in the air . aircraft begin to lose altitude. This only happen to me with harrier. F35 take of perfect with vtol.
Feint  [author] Oct 13, 2017 @ 10:33am
That's just how CBA Keys works, Stromboli. If you want to map something to your joystick, map it to the keyboard first, then use your joystick software to map that key to your joystick. Works perfectly for my Warthog setup and any other programmable joystick. Hope this helps.
Stromboli Oct 12, 2017 @ 7:39pm
Weird, this isn't letting me program any buttons on my flight stick or throttle, but I can bind to my keyboard
Feint  [author] Sep 9, 2017 @ 11:17pm
Thanks a lot. Yeah, I should probably set up a request ticket with them.
Tora Sep 7, 2017 @ 9:28pm
SO you said percentage angle is something you may be working on if they allow an analogue input for vectoring... The other aircraft that would benefit from this are the V-22 Osprey and VX-44 (?) Blackfish, as both have large nacelles to rotate and the V-22 does so by means of thumbwheel on the throttle of the aircraft. Most HOTAS have sliders or rotating wheels that will serve this function. AT least, there are a couple on my X-52 which would work great for that. Also would apply to the Harrier and F-35, obviously. Anyway, we should petition BI Studios to do such a thing. :) Great work on this by the way.
Feint  [author] Aug 22, 2017 @ 7:18am
Yes. The way I've done it is bind to a keystroke, then use my joystick software to program that keystroke onto the button of the joystick.
