"Drink, Eat, Sleep" basically does everything this mod does and more, including the werewolf feeding you mention. It's customizable in-game and everything, so I've stopped using my own mod in favor of it. I stopped working on this mod a long time ago, so go check "Drink, Eat, Sleep" out if you like Food Effects, but wish it went just a little farther, or worked a little better.

One bothersome oversight I found with this mod: werewolf "feeding" does not count towards your nutritional needs. So if you are performing a particularly long lycanthropic rampage, you'll eventually be affected by dire hunger and unable to regenerate! Since you can't access your inventory as a werewolf, there's nothing you can do about it. I'll have to look around and see if anyone developed a plugin that fixes this oversight.

While there's still power to foods like Elsweyr Fondue and Beef Stew without this mod, it really helps with immersion if even the Dovahkiin experiences something as mundane as metabolism.

Hey ppl, got a question here. I tried to rebalance food's weight and price for my own, but in any case (I create a new mod with rebalanced items, put it in front/after this one on NMM load list or rebalance inside this mod) the effects in desccription and ingame food disapper. Who can advise the solution pls?

awesome mod for food but add more food that helps magicka regeneration, till now all I know is cabbage
Geldon Sep 10, 2012 @ 1:30pm
This is probably the best approach to making food more viable in Skyrim I've seen. Not too overpowered (100% regen boost doesn't amount to a whole lot), not too complicated, it introduces a good reason for your Dovahkiin to bring along a goodly amount of those otherwise-neigh-useless food items in order to maintain a balanced diet.

This needs to be rated up to increase populairty and so hopefully the author will implement the fixes everyones talking about

Good mod, has a lot to be improved I believe. I'd increase the time-to-digest a bit and remove the negative "sick" greetings from NPCs while starving. Was added to IOSS Collection which features some similar good gameplay mods - {LINK REMOVED}

I honestly think the vision debuff is way too steep. Getting blurry is fine, but for me my vision gets dark to an unplayable level after only one drink; that's not what happens when you get drunk.
OneHP12 May 1, 2012 @ 8:56am
The dietary acids you get that from fish right ?
Adventure Time Journyman of Ooo Mar 17, 2012 @ 10:14am
really cool make ale and wine and other stuff do little health and magika also could you make water like add water to every vendor in skyrim that sells food or potions you could take like the wine bottle change the effects and give it a new name like water of course
InTeMeRaTo Mar 16, 2012 @ 2:39pm
can you add a sleep need? would be perfect!
nhojkedib Mar 15, 2012 @ 4:13pm
Without a mod like this there would be no need for all the food items, that being said why did Bethesda pay someone to write them in to the game? Perhaps tou should apply at their design department. Excelent mod, Thanks

I thought I would really like this but then found that with my currecnt gear giving me a health regeneration plus getting the food regeneration my health rarely went down and if it did it quickly shot back up. I am on a harder lever setting as well.. I think what I was more hoping for is a system that forced you to eat or start dying slowly from starvation but that foods havevery little bonuses if even any. I think I would love this mod if I didn't get the food bonuses.
Ravencroft Mar 6, 2012 @ 2:19am
For those finding that they have to eat a lot I simply fixed this by slowing in game time down. When slowed down to 5 it then seems extremely well balanced.
untugendbold Mar 5, 2012 @ 1:57pm
Same here. Character is starving and food wont help. Loosing health and there is no "Active Effect" listed that would explain why. I found the "Clear Effect Potion", drank it, but it doesnt change anything. Health is still marked red like i have some desease, but i cant figure out what it is. No spell or potion helps. I had other mods loaded before so i cant be 100% positive that this behaviour is caused by this mod alone or in combination with others. Disabling mods all together doesnt fix it either. So a warning. Make a safe game before you enable this mod and dont touch it until you are sure things work the way they should after a few in game days passed.
AMGamer94 Mar 2, 2012 @ 1:26pm
how about drunk when you drank at least 5 alcoholic drinks?
Pericles Mar 1, 2012 @ 1:33pm
food does not work ... i am starving and i cant find ANY "Clear Effects Potion" :(
Locksoli Feb 29, 2012 @ 5:34pm
next update should make it so that vampires and werewolves can eat raw meat without getting food poisoning
PeacefulPatriot Feb 27, 2012 @ 3:05pm
All protiens and dietary acids no longer satisfy. I'm starving and I have no way to help myself.
stolenpastry Feb 24, 2012 @ 8:49pm
Wow thanks for this, you inspired me to make a new character and I just read the note in the tutorial, it inspired me to come and say thanks a lot for this mod!
Emilinator Feb 23, 2012 @ 9:53am
very good mod! now we only need to add shitting and pissing!
Sengara Feb 21, 2012 @ 11:31pm
I had an error with Skyrim that loaded the game without any mods (was fixed in the latest patch thank god, but dmg is already done).
The only saves i had of my main chr she was, unfortunatly, starving in each one. Now she has base 0 stm and mag regen always, even with the mod back on.
Anyone know how to clear the old starving effect even though it's not showing?
muze Feb 21, 2012 @ 10:36am
you should just copy hardcore mode from new vegas with a tweek or two
Ogro Feb 21, 2012 @ 5:44am
I think its a great mod, and it would be consider rest issue. If you have to rest if you dont wat penalites, inmersion will be lot better. And then you could use other mods that let you carrie tents for example.
jayvenute Feb 20, 2012 @ 4:22pm
This might be my favorite mod. It makes all that food that's everywhere in Skyrim finally mean something. I do seem to have to eat a lot which can get a little repetitive, maybe in going forward the amount you eat can affect how soon before you have to eat again? (i.e. - Eating a venison steak would satisfy longer than a rabbit haunch.) Even so, with so much food available, it's a small criticism. I love this mod.
Kronhas Feb 20, 2012 @ 7:42am
I don't have any rest effects now (and I am not a werewolf), maybe is an incompatibility with this mod? Anyway is a good try. But I would like a way to eat automatically from the inventory, this way we only have to care of carrying enough food with us. Keep good work!
zergpoop Feb 20, 2012 @ 6:56am
I agree, with Spiritual Liege and Kronhas, I love having survival component like FO: NV, but the current settings seem to distract the player from the actual game.
Downtown Brown Feb 19, 2012 @ 9:39am
I like the idea but it seems like I'm constantly having to eat, and dietary acids are relatively hard to come by. I'd recommend toning down the bonuses and mirroring the hardcore mode of FO:NV where you need to eat/drink maybe twice a day.
Kronhas Feb 18, 2012 @ 12:21am
I found some food with no food effect, like cooked venison (I have the spanish game version, this may be the problem). This and the time between every meal is a bit tedious for me... only as my personal experience, but congratulations for your work!
Bomoo Feb 17, 2012 @ 8:45pm
Nice work. Definitely adds a dimension of realistic survival gameplay.
Aftershox Feb 17, 2012 @ 4:17pm
I agree with what some others are saying about the bonuses for cook food are a little too much for my taste. Perhaps add in some rarer recipes that you have to discover like the Gourmet quest line. RAther than having to find a clear effects potion wouldn't it be better simply to use a shrine to clear all effects like it does for blessings?
demolish238 Feb 17, 2012 @ 9:36am
i like it that its if you dont eat your health magica and stamina dont regenerate maby make it take less time for hunger to deminish and make food less filling and i like how if you eat to much you slow down
Viðarr Feb 17, 2012 @ 7:16am
Haven't been using the mod long enough to determine if the bonuses from staying fed are game breaking as others have suggested. I love that you need to keep a balanced diet, though. Once I play more I'll up-vote if I think it doesn't make the game too easy.
Digital Feb 17, 2012 @ 6:03am
I'd love if the mod didn't give alot of bonuses, but a sea of downsides for not eating. Otherwise, I feel like I'm cheating. D:
Ogro Feb 17, 2012 @ 1:32am
Mod is ok, but i think bonus are to great. I support idea of hunger/thrist/rest system that some user has put. Great idea.
Richard Feelgood, MD Feb 16, 2012 @ 10:08pm
Loved it, have it favorited for now. I suggest offering two versions. One for more 'hardcore' peoples, and one for no so hardcore. Hunger/Thirst/Rest systems can be good for immersion and really change the way you play a game (Like fallout for example). I suggest looking at this mod for some 'tips' on how you want to handle your food. That is, if you'll update it. (PLEASE DO!!!)

Not a bad mod but there really needs to be more time between eating. I'll have a three course meal and by the time I'm outside I'm already needing to eat again. I wouldn't aim for realism (cause, we're always eating) but aim for fun.
The Internet Janitor Feb 16, 2012 @ 2:41pm
I would really love a version of this with more time between being required to eat, and less of a bonus. More like new vegas hardcore, basically. Extra bonus points if being cold is something that must be taken into account (uses more carbs to keep up body heat?)
MasterTheHero Feb 16, 2012 @ 12:25pm
A little too much with the perks and bonuses on the food items, I liked the Oblivion mod better which had a reasonable amount of time for hunger and I wasn't eating for "bonuses" but rather just survival.
tolek1138 Feb 16, 2012 @ 10:22am
i've enjoyed this, and noticed a lot of comments regarding your bonus/penalty levels. this kind of mod has also been done in Oblivion - perhaps you may want to look up popular food mods for Oblivion and see what levels they suggested for bonuses and penalties?
wackywarrior07 Feb 15, 2012 @ 1:53pm
i think this is a really good mod idea however i hvave had to un-subscribe as i have found a mod that allows drink animations, which will not work with your mod, if you are able to create anminaitons with this i would gladly use this over any other. GOOD IDEA THOUGH
Flaccid Snake Feb 14, 2012 @ 10:24pm
it's not fun eating every 2 minutes
SMURG Feb 14, 2012 @ 5:13pm
lol, module
Axel Castilla Feb 14, 2012 @ 3:27pm
Hm, I don't know why is this happening. I love the idea of this module, but when I'm using it, despite eating all sorts of food my character is progressively suffering the effects of starvation. No idea why this is happening. Maybe a sort of conflict, who knows.
IoIcake Feb 14, 2012 @ 11:49am
How does changing your timescale via console affect this mod? For example, does the cooked food bonus last 4 hours at any timescale? For example, if I set the timescale to 1 (real time), then would the effect last 4 real life hours?
Addramyr Feb 14, 2012 @ 10:08am
Pretty much what other have said.

The mod is great, but bonuses are too high. Should give slight bonus but steep penalties for not eating. Penalties as they are seems fine.

Also, I don't care much about the different categories. Not eating should give penalties to health, stamina and magicka at once while eating well should give a bonus to all three. It's not necessary to divide them up in three categories.

Also, I've found a bug. You cannot go down more than one step at a time. For example, if not eating in-game for a day, as time passes you'll see your hunger grows and the penalty increase but if you wait for 24h, your hunger will only grow by one category.
Fidelfc Feb 14, 2012 @ 1:36am
I like the mod, but it would be nice if you could add more recipes.
Trade Surplus Feb 13, 2012 @ 10:11pm
need to add cooked clam receipe, like clam chowder as you can't cook clams and your short on the acids
waxm Feb 13, 2012 @ 9:20pm
Yea. I hear you Charlie. The well-fed bonuses all feel a bit cheaty. 50% bonuses are pretty steep. What if there are mild bonuses if well fed (5% or 10%), but steep negatives if underfed for a day or two. I too am far more interested in the negative effects of not eating... As well, eating once or twice a day sounds about right. Just enough to add a bit of realism without completely taking over the game.

As well, I hear what Emil is saying about making 'well fed' decrease all effects. It seems a bit odd to eat a big meal of proteins and acids, but still be absolutely starving and have harsh negatives for carbs.
What if all foods increase all atributes (protiens, carbs and acids) but give a slight bonus to one, (while bringing the other two up to par)? That might ballance things nicely.
I still won't dare uninstall my Food Effects mod. It makes the game more fun for me. Joel, I hope you're gonna keep tweeking things a bit. It has the potential to be an absolutely essential mod.
