Nice idea, but i found puzles hardly challanging.

Whats the point of the light bridge in the 2nd last chamber? Didnt need to use it
BrownieComicWriter Dec 26, 2014 @ 3:35pm
Fine, fine. It just caused me a lot of frustration. And it could have been made a bit clearer.
Dr. Worm  [author] Dec 26, 2014 @ 2:34pm
Take it easy, man, I'm just joking around. The intention was always to use the light bridge to grab the cube as it's bouncing around in its main cage, then travel through the "tube" section, but unfortunately it sometimes bounces straight through it. I've seen it go straight through and land on the button, something that probably happens more often than not. And not to be more patronizing, but please don't take it out on me because you didn't turn around to see a well-lit puzzle element at ground level.
BrownieComicWriter Dec 26, 2014 @ 2:08pm
Really. Hmm. Since the light bridge was tucked away in the corner like that and (as far as I remember) wasn't used in the puzzle up until that point, and since my attention was focused solely on the cube and getting it onto the button...

I didn't see that.

Now the title of that video? That's just rude. Why yes, I had, in fact, spent several mini-chambers using the technique of grabbing the cube through metal grids. As a matter of fact, I had also seen it done in two or three other chambers before. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO GRAB THE CUBE UNLESS YOU ARE RIGHT NEXT TO IT, WHICH I CLEARLY STATED TO BE THE PROBLEM I HAD BEEN HAVING.

Man, don't you just love it when you tell somebody you need help and they're rude and patronising?
Dr. Worm  [author] Dec 24, 2014 @ 8:54am
Or you could do this
BrownieComicWriter Dec 24, 2014 @ 6:00am

For some reason, screenshots weren't working, but I made a crude recreation of it (see the link above.)

Now I'll just run through it: the elements involved are the blue-painted cube (highlighted in blue), the gate (highlighted in purple) and the falling water (white/grey). When the gate was opened, the cube bounced through the opening along the yellow path, losing its gel coating at the yellow circle, and subsequently coming to rest at the red X.

At this point, the cube was impossible to move onto the button below; there was no way to reach it manually, no way to spray gel on it to get it moving again, and no way to destroy it and replace it with a new one.

The problem could be resolved by making the floor underneath the X solid; this would allow Repulsion Gel to be placed there and allow the player to bounce up and grab the cube, guiding it down to the button.
Dr. Worm  [author] Dec 23, 2014 @ 12:54pm
Did you take a screenshot? Or can you recreate what it was like?
BrownieComicWriter Dec 23, 2014 @ 12:09pm
The part with the blue-painted cube suffers from a game-breaking problem. Once the laser was activated and the gate open, the blue cube bounced straight through and then through the water, cleaning itself. The problem was that the cube was now sat right up by the ceiling, with no way to move it and no way to replace it with a new one. I suggest putting an actual floor under that spot so Repulsion Gel can be placed there and the cube reached.

I can't believe people are still playing this map

entertaining. not the deepest puzzle but a fun idea.
Ryvaken Tadrya Oct 15, 2014 @ 6:30pm
Creative, certainly, but more annoying than fun. Great proof of concept, but get some puzzles that are a tad more challenging.
Stafa Sep 19, 2014 @ 3:09pm
This was pretty creative. I like how the level was set up to train the player how to play the level. Though, the final puzzle wasn't very difficult. I mainly gave this a thumbs up due to the creatvity.

Nice set of examples! Iike the way you build on each test to be more complex. I was half-expecting to see the slippy-gel-coated cube sliding down a lightbridge too, but perhaps that's for next time...

Fun and clever - especially the last chamber. Thanks!

Fun and a bit challenging in places. I very much liked the speed gel room and the final chamber. I've used the concept but never quite as elegantly as you have here. The bouncing cube, I thought, was a novel idea. The whole map is well thought out and implemented. Great job. Another of yours to add to my fav's. Thank you and I'll see ya round the workshop.
scout___aus Jan 13, 2014 @ 4:02pm
Well done on a fresh concept. First time I have seen it used. And good execution of the "training" chamber at the begining to teach the player
psn_markm1978 Nov 2, 2013 @ 4:08am
Very fun map! I like how you use the default pick-up method as a full-blown mechanic!

Also, I just finished my third map today! I'm looking for honest feedback on each of the three I've developed so far. They are designed to be fun, investigative maps. Typically, no antlines or signs to aide in what controls what, you observe and move forward. They aren't too hard.

Very nicely done.

Very simple, easy, and fun. Well designed to increae in difficulty, but nothing any average player couldn't easily handle and not get frustrated.

Very creative and well designed

What a great test chamber! I couldn't figure out how to get the cube out of the blue funnel. After one hour of thinking about it I had to go on youtube and see how it's done. I look forward in playing other test chambers from this author!
ghostyman719 Aug 26, 2013 @ 10:56am
The last chamber was particularly good. I wish there was something you could do about visibility. Would more lights make it so that you could see what was going on?

Today I learned that gels on light bridges is a thing.

TheAngel333 Jun 4, 2013 @ 1:12pm
First off was a lot of fun, cool ideas i have yet to see. But a little bug i noticed not sure if it was intentional or not you can go through the fence gate in the red goo room by using the light bridge as a elevator. Did it on accident and got through the room in a flash.

I have some chambers saved up for a pack I'll publish when I get enough done that use this mechanic in it, although it's been on the works for a long time now.
Dr. Worm  [author] May 29, 2013 @ 5:15pm
@Finnish - It wasn't meant to be challenging, it was meant to be a mechanical introduction. I had expected people to make maps of their own using the mechanic, but it seems no one has.
ThatFinnishAnon May 29, 2013 @ 11:26am
The first two were almost a mockery to the player since this mechanic is rather obvious to all Portal veterans. However, the clever problems after the first two were fun, but still not as challenging. You could've made the rooms a bit smaller and simpler, trimmed out the fat, as GLaDOS says. Overall a nice and an enjoyable chamber, but not difficult in any form.

Sincerely: Prtalist

I've seen it being used before a few times, and if you realise that you can grab through grating (which you should realise after the first room), the chamber is very easy, apart from the room with the bounce gel, where you can get stuck. I failed in moving the blue cube far enough to the button but still placed it out of reach. Due to the grating on the floor you can't bounce close to the button, and there is no button to reset the blue cube.
Garnog Dec 19, 2012 @ 6:04pm
I got grief for the same thing in my maps (being able to grab through a grate). It seems there are a few different type players for this game. Those that like a challenge, those that don't want to involve their brain too much and want everything pointed out for them, and those that make crappy maps and just want you to play theirs with posts to their map (who may have never even completed yours). I liked the concept and thought it was great.
artao Dec 15, 2012 @ 9:35pm
Hmm. Here's where I wish we could rate x/5 stars instead of thumbs up or down. I found this map way too easy and straight forward for a thumbs up, but CERTAINLY not worth a thumbs down either. I'd say, oh .. 3/5 for me. right in the middle.
It WAS fun tho.
