I made the script for my timetravel map that auto-moves the future cube when I move the present one but present one will not move when I move the future cube, but when I go back to present and touch the cube ithe future cube jumps to that location, since I changed the future. if I kill the future cube the present cube stays but if I kill the present cube, the future cube will respawn too :) plus they keep their orientation

Hi DaMaGepy, I have a question about my map Trekker where I used pipes in a section of the map to walk on above the goo which you can see in the map picture, and the problem I have is 2 players complained about the surface being invisible to them but they still could walk on across the goo. Can you tell me why for some players the pipes show up but others they don't?
You've used these same pipes in your maps as well!
I didn't want to link my map Trekker here because I don't know how you feel about other players advertising their maps on your site, but if you click on my name and look at the map to see one of the players posted a picture of the pipes invisible to them and explain to me if there is something I can do in order to correct it or why that player experienced missing pipes in their portal game?!

@brave: ye, I share vmf to help mappers. I havent shared nomoney1 cause its full of custom textures and objects and loading it the map would be full of missing textures and error signs.
And ye, I have paypal link, but only received 2 donation over the last 3 year, so I'm not even gained back the electricity cost of the mapz :)

Nice map and I enjoyed playing! Also thanks for sharing your hard work, meaning some of your vmfs which also helped me improved my hammer maps!
I was reading in your description and noticed paypal donation accepted, and I have to say I don't blame you cause making maps in hammer is so time-consuming!

why? you place an apple on a table, and then you go 1 day to the future, the apple will be there. But then if you go back and eat the apple in the past and go 1 day to the future again, the apple will not be there, because you ate it. But if you eat the apple in the future, the apple will still be there if you go back 1 day to the past, because there you havent eaten it yet. Its very simple. What you do can only affect the future, but not the past.

I can not begin to describe the ideas and complications the derive from the existance of the same portal device from different timelines existing simultaneously, it seems odd.

NulcearDoomMuffin: Why? if you do something in the future, it will not affect the past. Its the opposite, if you could pick it up in the present, It would disappear in the decayed future, since you already picked it up, then hundreds of years passed. :)
It would only disappear if the portal could bring you to the past (where the room is under construction for example) and pick it up there....

I can't think of any actual reason why it would work this way, but after playing The Silent Age on my iPad, I had the idea that once I gained access to the room with the portal gun (in the future), that would somehow allow me to get into it in the past. (In The Silent Age, it works because your time travel device is a pendant that you carry with you.)

I also thought maybe I could move some chairs, or some boxes, in the past, and they'd still be moved in the future. But they were all pretty well nailed down. And, with a couple exceptions (like that one chair that fell over), people were apparently pretty fastidious about never stealing or moving any of the stuff during the long period where the lab was breaking down :-P

You should add a little message to the big red buttons outdoors that yes "Yes, very nice, you know how to noclip! Now it's time to quit the level!" :-)

Lots of attention to details, like the crow (I finally get to see an animated crow that I can only hear in the background of many other maps). Also, instead of being Bendy I was Orange. Getting to the outside wasn't too simple and took a little thought so it was a pleasant challenge. I like how the challenge was to get to the outside so every so many yards in the map was an inaccessible shaft in the ceiling leading up to the sky to tease you into continuing the quest. The atmosphere and custom music/tiles was nice.

When I read time travel I thought:
Place blue portal
Drop cube into blue portal
Cube disappears
Place orange portal
Cube comes out of orange portal

So a portal remembers not only a moment in space, but time. That could be pretty cool, I think... Not that it isn't already pretty cool.

Time Travel+Outdoors(xPortal)2=Portal 3 Alpha. I can just see the possibilities, like time travelling outdoors and certain plant/facility growth/decay helping you get to where you need to go. Adds a whole new dimension to the game pacing... literally!

I dont think outdoor game play will be an issue people are looking for something new and differint I have played a cupple of semi outdoor maps and I at least think they are a cool addition add your time travel device and you will have a good combo. looking forward to you future maps

damagepy: well maybe you could use the singular portal device for example in the future evrything could be fixed up so in the wrecked past you press a button unseeable in the future to open a orange portal or maybe to open a panel so in the future you could reach a portalable space or orange portal space or a button for a orange portal

staryoshi06: well, that could mean that the normal portal device is a timetravel device too... but its not. If you place a blue portal, and 1 minute later a yellow and go thru the yellow, you not traveling back in time 1 minute in the portal game. If after 1 minute the blue still there, you just appear there. If something happens with a portal, or the gun is out of range, it disappears. And the portals probably cant last on walls forever, or lets say 100 year. So if it DOES stays, then a portal placed in the past should be at the same position in the future. If it does not exists, then there is nothing where the other colored portal can connect to...

well i was thinking if you placed a portal then went throught the time machine the portal would be there in the future for example a level an area collapses in the future so you shoot a portal go to the past (because in the future either the portal spaces are unusable or a catwalk is broken etc) you can go through and you could go up there and well.... yeah

its the portal_cleanser entity, the texture can be anything, it still fizzles, or can be a normal fizzler texture that does nothing

its a normal portal fizzler without the 2 side prop
