Timetravel concept

...but the outside is low detail... and not restricted! :) you can jump on railing then on the side to avoid the map-ending trigger at the end of the stairs... but really, nothing interesting outside :)
If you want to go outside, just check my outdoor maps, 'no money for chambers #1' or 'cube training'...
make it so outside is NOT restricted

ah do the complete now
djcj Sep 23 @ 11:34am
Really cool map. I hope you will make another one with this concept of time travelling.
wildgoosespeeder Sep 19 @ 9:42pm
...and this is probably where the obsession of time travel concepts began. It was OK once but there are many of these kinds of maps now.
DaMaGepy  [author] Sep 17 @ 6:02am
Of course the ruined/aged version of the room is the future, therefore if you pick the gun up in the future, it should not disappear from the past.
moonprincess2010 Sep 17 @ 12:18am
I like the combination of outdoors and time travel mapping, if only you would continue this exact one! There are issues like the gun not dissapearing in what I think is the future in the map after getting it from what I think is the past in the map. Other minior details is that the skybox does not blend properly with the area it encloses(for an example of what I mean by blending properly check out the rp murican town map in gmod) and that when P-body is walking it looked more like he is gliding instead of showing the walking animation that is visible when playing co-op. Please make an extended version of this map!

Speaking of Time Travel:

Your idea here gave me the motivation on making actual Time Travel related puzzles. I already made 2, and published them on the workshop! If you want to take a look, you can find them on my workshop!

Hi DaMaGepy,
Your work is absolutely superb! A piece of art in every map (great light ambiances and details) and original ideas in all your puzzles.
For the time travel concept, a solution for moving and using some objects in the past world could be that after using them, they disappear or they are destroyed. In such a case it' s quite easy (with hammer) to "kill" those ojects in the future world. Maybe not so easy to "justify" this destruction (for a credible scenario), but I've seen that your imagination is quite large...
Thank you for the real fun I had while playing your maps :-) jp
connortupton May 20 @ 4:08am
Cool thanks! I checked out cube training already and I'll make sure to play no money...!
DaMaGepy  [author] May 19 @ 7:51pm
@connortupton: If you want outside exploration map, check my 'No money for chambers 1' or 'Cube training' maps, they are outside, and I'm making No money for testchambers 2 at the moment, an outdoor adventure map...
connortupton May 19 @ 3:29pm
thanks for the tip! i loved this map! there is nothing bad about it except that i wish it would have let you explore outside. i have no idea how you programmed this, even with hammer i cant figure it out. 12/10! do you want to play one of my maps? im new to steam and it would be great to get some publicity. (They're not nearly as cool as this one im afraid) :(
DaMaGepy  [author] May 17 @ 4:48am
check the youtube walkthrough video...

Nice, but it seems your not the only one with the time travel concept...
f0xtr0t Oct 21, 2014 @ 1:02am
really one of my favorites
vioray Oct 16, 2014 @ 5:28pm
I've already seen you use the concept in proper maps but it was nice to go back and see how it began. the puzzle to get outside was a nice extra touch too. really hope to see more of this in future, can I borrow your time machine please so I can play your maps before you've made them?
DaMaGepy  [author] Sep 13, 2014 @ 7:06pm
@tomaek13: read the description above... (I used the Hammer editor)
tomaek13 Sep 13, 2014 @ 4:21pm
how did you do the map

@Brave: You're welcome. =3
DaMaGepy  [author] Jul 11, 2014 @ 2:31pm
I made the script for my timetravel map that auto-moves the future cube when I move the present one but present one will not move when I move the future cube, but when I go back to present and touch the cube ithe future cube jumps to that location, since I changed the future. if I kill the future cube the present cube stays but if I kill the present cube, the future cube will respawn too :) plus they keep their orientation
redinator2000 Jul 11, 2014 @ 11:44am
I am making a map like like this if you dont mind
i wanted to do more with this. mine will have you going back and forth to solve
Brave Jul 7, 2014 @ 5:36pm
Hi DaMaGepy, I have a question about my map Trekker where I used pipes in a section of the map to walk on above the goo which you can see in the map picture, and the problem I have is 2 players complained about the surface being invisible to them but they still could walk on across the goo. Can you tell me why for some players the pipes show up but others they don't?
You've used these same pipes in your maps as well!
I didn't want to link my map Trekker here because I don't know how you feel about other players advertising their maps on your site, but if you click on my name and look at the map to see one of the players posted a picture of the pipes invisible to them and explain to me if there is something I can do in order to correct it or why that player experienced missing pipes in their portal game?!

Thanks for your time!

Also thanks Seattlegamer for playing Strange haven
Dat pootis Catul Braonee Gaemur Jul 3, 2014 @ 12:13pm
@Brave: i also liked your strange haven map :)
DaMaGepy  [author] Jul 2, 2014 @ 2:39pm
@brave: ye, I share vmf to help mappers. I havent shared nomoney1 cause its full of custom textures and objects and loading it the map would be full of missing textures and error signs.
And ye, I have paypal link, but only received 2 donation over the last 3 year, so I'm not even gained back the electricity cost of the mapz :)
Brave Jul 2, 2014 @ 11:41am
Nice map and I enjoyed playing! Also thanks for sharing your hard work, meaning some of your vmfs which also helped me improved my hammer maps!
I was reading in your description and noticed paypal donation accepted, and I have to say I don't blame you cause making maps in hammer is so time-consuming!
Dat pootis Catul Braonee Gaemur Jul 1, 2014 @ 11:54am
OMG dis is awesome!!! @damagepy: you should make time travel concept part 2 after you make no money for chambers part 2. how does dat sound?

Interesting concept...Mind= blown.
DaMaGepy  [author] Feb 13, 2014 @ 10:43pm
why? you place an apple on a table, and then you go 1 day to the future, the apple will be there. But then if you go back and eat the apple in the past and go 1 day to the future again, the apple will not be there, because you ate it. But if you eat the apple in the future, the apple will still be there if you go back 1 day to the past, because there you havent eaten it yet. Its very simple. What you do can only affect the future, but not the past.
NuclearDoomMuffin Feb 13, 2014 @ 6:27pm
I can not begin to describe the ideas and complications the derive from the existance of the same portal device from different timelines existing simultaneously, it seems odd.
DaMaGepy  [author] Feb 13, 2014 @ 4:32pm
NulcearDoomMuffin: Why? if you do something in the future, it will not affect the past. Its the opposite, if you could pick it up in the present, It would disappear in the decayed future, since you already picked it up, then hundreds of years passed. :)
It would only disappear if the portal could bring you to the past (where the room is under construction for example) and pick it up there....
NuclearDoomMuffin Feb 13, 2014 @ 2:08pm
The portal gun in the "present" chamber needs to dissapear.

Beautiful how the time portal changes what you see through it, versus what you see behind it in the present chanber. : )

I can't think of any actual reason why it would work this way, but after playing The Silent Age on my iPad, I had the idea that once I gained access to the room with the portal gun (in the future), that would somehow allow me to get into it in the past. (In The Silent Age, it works because your time travel device is a pendant that you carry with you.)

I also thought maybe I could move some chairs, or some boxes, in the past, and they'd still be moved in the future. But they were all pretty well nailed down. And, with a couple exceptions (like that one chair that fell over), people were apparently pretty fastidious about never stealing or moving any of the stuff during the long period where the lab was breaking down :-P

You should add a little message to the big red buttons outdoors that yes "Yes, very nice, you know how to noclip! Now it's time to quit the level!" :-)
