This is amazing, I've never seen something like this in portal before. Even though it's just a proof of concept it still got me crazy, think of all the possibilities for a full map!

There are 2 way to do it, easiest way is to portal on the floor, but you can just watch the youtube walkthru video... :)

thx, I'll put a reset timer on those buttons, but it was just a concept, if I use the idea on a real map there will be no switches, the portal auto opens and then closes behind or stays open :)

Found you a nice juicy bug DaMeGepy, not sure if you've patched this in any future uses of this concept but if you spam the buttons to open and close the portal from the future side, the fizzler doesn't work, allowing the player to create portals through your world portal. I'm currently uploading a demo video of what I'm talking about.

@z34chris: yes, and it was my favorite game at that time. However its map editor was weird for me, I enjoyed making quake maps better :)

...but the outside is low detail... and not restricted! :) you can jump on railing then on the side to avoid the map-ending trigger at the end of the stairs... but really, nothing interesting outside :)
If you want to go outside, just check my outdoor maps, 'no money for chambers #1' or 'cube training'...

...and this is probably where the obsession of time travel concepts began. It was OK once but there are many of these kinds of maps now.

Of course the ruined/aged version of the room is the future, therefore if you pick the gun up in the future, it should not disappear from the past.

I like the combination of outdoors and time travel mapping, if only you would continue this exact one! There are issues like the gun not dissapearing in what I think is the future in the map after getting it from what I think is the past in the map. Other minior details is that the skybox does not blend properly with the area it encloses(for an example of what I mean by blending properly check out the rp murican town map in gmod) and that when P-body is walking it looked more like he is gliding instead of showing the walking animation that is visible when playing co-op. Please make an extended version of this map!

Hi DaMaGepy,
Your work is absolutely superb! A piece of art in every map (great light ambiances and details) and original ideas in all your puzzles.
For the time travel concept, a solution for moving and using some objects in the past world could be that after using them, they disappear or they are destroyed. In such a case it' s quite easy (with hammer) to "kill" those ojects in the future world. Maybe not so easy to "justify" this destruction (for a credible scenario), but I've seen that your imagination is quite large...

@connortupton: If you want outside exploration map, check my 'No money for chambers 1' or 'Cube training' maps, they are outside, and I'm making No money for testchambers 2 at the moment, an outdoor adventure map...

thanks for the tip! i loved this map! there is nothing bad about it except that i wish it would have let you explore outside. i have no idea how you programmed this, even with hammer i cant figure it out. 12/10! do you want to play one of my maps? im new to steam and it would be great to get some publicity. (They're not nearly as cool as this one im afraid) :(

I've already seen you use the concept in proper maps but it was nice to go back and see how it began. the puzzle to get outside was a nice extra touch too. really hope to see more of this in future, can I borrow your time machine please so I can play your maps before you've made them?
