In terms of gameplay, New Characters and lower-Rank settlements have a variety of protections against exploitation by higher-level characters. Wars cost considerably more when waged against lower-Ranked enemies, and there's a definite 'Defender Bias' which should hopefully counterbalance tendencies for the Existing Players to prey on New Players.
Defensive Pacts allow a lot of flexibility for smaller settlements to band together, and while the game does contain full PvP, there is a fairly long 'warning period' between initiation of a war and actual combat, providing a structural defense against 'Ganking' by more powerful players. I hope this allays some of your concerns, if you'd like to know more please visit us on the forums at BruneGame.com , and thanks for commenting!
I am so sick of starting out a game and building something and someone comes along who has been playing longer and destroys everything.
NO THANKS, Been there, Done that.
I would like to pay money to us for the game in kickstarter but i'm 14 year's old I spect to have a really good time playing the game.
The time investment needed for Brune is variable, we're attempting to create an environment in which players with less time for play can be beneficial to their Settlements. Working at Buildings as well as Research take place while offline, and the AP system makes it possible to fully participate with only 15-30 minutes!
We don't want to bind anyone into a time-consuming experience if they're looking for a bit of easy fun! Currently all the settlements are seeking casual players, many are offering 'signing bonuses' for new players regardless of their time commitment! Our goal is to make 'Casual' play beneficial and to encourage 'Hardcore' players to help out with the more time-consuming aspects of the game.

Making this game look a lot more realistic would be a great idea. For example, I have nothing against wizard robes, but when they look so childish, it will be very hard to sell a game which is focused on economics. This is a sad time for video games where people only care for graphics (well maybe not only). You could have the best game ever invented, but with terrible graphics, no one would want to buy it. The standards have been set high, and the concept of this game is quite unique. I wish you the best of luck, but I'm afraid there isn't much to do this late in development. The only bit of advice that I can give right now, is to remodel many of the "unrealistic" looking models, and retexture almost all of the textures. Focus on the details, and I guarantee that this game will be greenlit in no time, and the amount of people purchasing it will be tremendous. Good Luck :D

Thanks again for taking a look and asking questions about the game. We rely on Players to help us make this MMO an enjoyable experience! ^_^
The Diplomatic system of the game makes player characters even more powerful in settlement government. Each 'Upvote' or 'Downvote' in the forums (as well as other actions like Dueling, Gifts, Marriages) impacts the Relations between the two Settlements involved. This makes it necessary to build popular support for Wars, or Peace, between two cities.
Given this seems to be a highly "social" game of sorts...i take it's likely we could see a recreation of what most of us see on the internet/twitter/etc in-game...but would there be actual/possible consequence so such behavior?
I'd imagine villagers getting the hell out of dodge in a settlement run by a dickish ruler(s) and the backlash would be no money/food/etc...and the ire of the impending armies the refugees create. :3c
