Thanks !

A new trailer is now available. If you share it, it would help Cylne to be greenlit.

@MadKingdom, thank you for the demo.

@♛|TDS|♛ PennyWi5e : thank you, I didn't know Blue Berry.

@MelonRacerPro : it's not planned, maybe later : it could also be a way to make a Linux release.
MelonRacerPro Jul 21 @ 3:57am
planning to shift to unreal engine 4?

@The Mechanic
Thanks a lot for your comments :

About the vignetting texture : I increased the tiling.
"You might want to make the gradient a bit more gradual" : I will try to improve it.

"The floor on that level is also kind of confusing" : There is still a problem with that. I will probably build a new material for the floor.

"In addition, it would be cool if you had shadow borders become blurrier(...)" : I think I can't do it.

"Finally, it might be cool to add camera tilt when the player walks to make it feel more organic, though again I understand the element of surreality the lack of this effect adds." : yes , surreality explains it. There is a light and slow bobbing camera.

I replaced some unnecessary textures with solid color.

The Mechanic Jul 8 @ 11:16pm

@Cylne Sorry if I was too critical in my other comment. To clarify, the general problem is a lack of anti-aliasing that could be solved by either using higher-res textures or reducing the size of each ‘tile’ of the texture, since you can’t rely on your players to have enough processing power to anti-alias better without serious slowdown or sacrificing other graphical privileges.
The Mechanic Jul 8 @ 11:16pm

@Cylne I think this could also be extended to the smoke in the room of doors, though I’m not that familiar with the intersection of texture and VFX behind the effect.
This isn’t really related to the whole texture issue, but you should reduce the amount of time the camera is blocked after attempting to enter a blocked door. On the issue of texture, try to make that texture less detailed. I know that’s kind of the opposite of what I said before, but in this case it’s because it’s tiled too frequently, making it look like a pattern instead of one big ‘surface’.
In addition, it would be cool if you had shadow borders become blurrier as the distance between the shadow and the object became greater, or at least blur them altogether, because perfectly crisp shadows defy optics.
Finally, it might be cool to add camera tilt when the player walks to make it feel more organic, though again I understand the element of surreality the lack of this effect adds.
The Mechanic Jul 8 @ 11:15pm

@Cylne Sure! The texture you used for the vignetting effect is a bit N64-ey, though I understand that it adds surreality over standard vignetting with solid black. I really like that effect as a sort of ‘visual error sound’. You might want to make the gradient a bit more gradual, as there is a distinct oval shape that harks back to the early days of vector graphics files.
Definitely the texture on the rocks in the stage where the player pushes buttons to open new streams in order to reach higher platforms, though the one used on the button itself is OK. The floor on that level is also kind of confusing, given that there is a texture behind it built into the world that doesn’t feel far away due to the lack of fog, which would also help with rendering, or a blurring effect to simulate focus.

Thanks !

@naterobemadd : Thank you ; do you mean puzzles with physics ?

@The Mechanic, thanks for your comment :
About "Try to make it clearer to the player what's going on, and replace some of the more unnecessary textures with solid color or gradients to make the game feel a bit less like it's being played on an N64.". I did this since the last video but I think I still must improve it. Can you quote me textures which are like N64 textures ?
The Mechanic Jul 4 @ 2:42pm
I like the feel of the game, but the overuse of bright and indistinguishable texture makes it hard to tell what's going on. I know it's supposed to be surreal, but I can't really discern anything that's happening. Try to make it clearer to the player what's going on, and replace some of the more unnecessary textures with solid color or gradients to make the game feel a bit less like it's being played on an N64.

Wow mindblowing. Does it have physics?

Nice game!
ceissadesiste Jun 24 @ 5:25pm
Definitely my type of game! Voted for it and hope to see it get Greenlit!
Cylne  [author] Jun 24 @ 3:18am

@rdnxl :
Yes it's right. Since the last video I changed all flashing and bright lights :
- About flashes : minimum duration set to one second, decreased brightness, color close to grey.
- About bright lights : decrased bloom effect (post process effect), decreased brightness.
I'm still working on this side.
rdnxl Jun 23 @ 6:03am
Hi, thank you for your request. The game looks promising, but, like some others that gave their comments below, I wonder if the flashing and bright lights are needed in the game? Especially since they demand giving potential gamers already the warning: "The game and videos contain flashing and bright lights which may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy" before they have even seen a glimp of the game. Maybe you can find away to alter these effects towards more mellow, or create a different way of achieving things?

It's like I've stepped into a Dali painting.
I can't think of any other game like this.
I'm so amazed...I want it.
I want it now!

The Q2 target will probably be missed.

I updated the screenshots and added a small gameplay video made for the IndieCade festival.

@Dare Master, I will take a look at it

I think you've gone too heavy on the noise maps in some of the levels. Other than that it looks very cool. The last 3 screenshots look terrific.
Macaroni Kid Lee May 13 @ 1:23pm
really dig the guitar in the trailers, lol. would like to play drums to em

Looks very interesting, i would try it for sure
Mnementh21 May 9 @ 5:52am
I loved Kairo the message behind it was amazingly implemented At the end how it is all revealed and you finally figure out what all it was for, and the message to keep the world clean this has a different art style but is still minimalist upvote and fave from me
Deli73 May 8 @ 6:51am
Reminds me of Kairo, except way more confusing and it hurts my eyes.
Also the music doesn't fit at all.
MaX3nC3 May 4 @ 7:36am
voted, i want :)
L_Bloodsong May 1 @ 2:14am
I actually do like the look of your game and would be interested in playing it..but I noticed the epilepsy warning..and as I am prone to seizures that is most likely going to stop me. Sorry.
HellYeahRayman Apr 30 @ 4:24pm
I would buy this if there was a Mac port. Looks very interesting.
icydec Apr 29 @ 4:21am
I thawt it was soposte to be a portal story
BeardedOctopus Apr 28 @ 3:24pm
I love this game because it's like recording what you would see in a persons mind, I love the sound and the use of the halo how it helps you guide you through these worlds. The puzzles are really cool with the gliding I like how you glide to each platform with that air mechanic.

Cylne  [author] Apr 23 @ 2:18am
Thanks !

@Commandant_Regis, Thank you for your feed-back !
The music is a very important side of the game.
About the story, I wrote in the FAQ "There is no clear story. The player doesn't know who he is, where he comes from and where he goes. In a way, I'd like the player to create his own story. It's more about self revelation." In a way, the only thing you know about the avatar is the black misty blur, its' your halo and it is responding according to your action.
Commandant_Regis Apr 22 @ 7:43am
Culne's environment is absolutly amazing and neatly crafted. During different parts of the game I felt like I could imagine it in my head. The Demo is only a glimpse of the actually game, I look foward into playing the final version! I like to also note, The music is one of the most stunning attributes of this game.

I feel like there is something thats missing from the game. Perhaps adding a small story line of some sort would make it interesting; that also allows better understanding of the game(Besides that I'm not sure what eles I like to add), also I don't exactly understand why the corners have black misty blur there.
