Thank you Polux for showing your face. :)

I took the opportunity to update the map and convert it to original Portal 2 style.
Polux 22 sept. 2015 à 16h22
I put my face here just for show off :p
Great map.
toncica  [créateur] 13 janv. 2015 à 15h52
Fortunately there are plenty of small-to-medium maps. In fact it would be horrible if all maps in the whole workshop would be like this one, very hard and time consuming. I wouldn't want to play such maps exclusively.
ken.roberts 1 janv. 2015 à 1h03
I am gonna admit something. After many years - I find that my own personal tastes now prefer small-to-medium maps with a Difficulty Level of approx 7 out of 10. Although I appreciate the ingenius design of a Map like this - I end up spending so much time figuring out multiple seemingly "impossibilities" - that it is simply too much for me.

Thank you again for your very detailed feedback. I'm not sure I understand the issue you have with the bright surface mistaking it for a light. With cold light it would be just as bright, a light was being put on the floor of the door passage because the floor mustn't be portalable. I could make the floor black instead. This map is a pain to update though, it takes ages to compile and it is on the edge of the engine's limit, then the sendificator doesn't work without packing the files in manually and it is restricted to this specific style with Glados voices to work at all.

The rest of the map was (relatively) straight-forward. There were a few parts where I had to reload a number of times before I got right, such as picking up the cube on the other side of the fizzler, or not waiting long enough for the cube to go through the funnel before reversing it, but there was nothing overly difficult logic-wise. That said, running through said steps was still a lot of fun.

It if wasn't for the few qualms I have (surfaces vs lights, identical cubes, a few save-reload maneuvers), this would easily be up there with "Lost" on my list. As it is, though, it's still a really close second.
Ganymede 9 déc. 2014 à 9h17
Then came the toughest part of the puzzle, and, judging from the comments, the part that most people struggled with. You know the part I'm talking about. Again, I did quite a bit of exploring before I thought up a way to pull it off. It was one of those things where I knew exactly what I had to do; I just didn't know how to do it. Speaking of exploring, I really liked your use of blue gel in case you get stuck in the "maintenance cooridor" at the bottom. That means there's at least one map in your workshop that has blue gel in it. =P

Unfortunately I couldn't get much further than that because guess what? I got the cubes mixed up! Again with the puzzles that depend on keeping track of two identical cubes. Oh well... just remember to add those color-coded cubes if they ever get added to BEEMOD.

At this point, I found it easier to just restart the entire map. Yes, I could technically recover from where I was, but it was just so much easier to run through the steps I already knew.
Ganymede 9 déc. 2014 à 9h17
At this point, the puzzle got really interesting. I LOVE the way you used the sendificator. I'll admit, when I first saw the cube on the other side of the grate, I thought it was another "cube passed through the grate" physics glitch. I had completely forgotten that sendificators will send things right through grates.

The funnel was also really clever. I like the way you used a laser to "force" the player to make the cube face either up or down as it comes out the other end. At first I thought it was a coincidence, until I looked more carefully at how the laser was positioned. I had to think quite a bit before I considered "flipping" the ceiling portal around to swap the direction of the cube.

Let's just say I'm not fond of the yellow-tinted lights. I had the same problem in Perplexus. They look too similar to portable surfaces. It gets worse when one of them is shining directly on a surface as it tints the surface a really bright yellow and makes it look even more like a light. This was the second time in one of your maps that I was completely blind to a portable surface because I mistakened it for a light. In fact, there were a few times I had to do a double-take because the sheer brightness of it reminded me of a common graphics glitch. You might consider replacing the yellow lights in that part with white lights, and maybe pull them back so it's not so bright. In this case, I'm referring to the surface between the two doors at the beginning.
Ganymede 9 déc. 2014 à 9h16
The main chamber is HUGE! Perhaps one of the largest I've seen from you (since In The End). Lots of room to move around and explore. I had no qualms about "taking the tour" and looking around every inch of the map before I tried to solve anything.

I will admit, it was at this point that I hit my first major barrier. I got stuck in a really bad way. I wandered around the map for maybe 15 - 20 minutes looking for something I could do. I finally referenced the walkthrough video and... well...
Ganymede 9 déc. 2014 à 9h16
This was a really fun collection of ideas. I haven't played any "gimmick" puzzles from your workshop: you usually find really clever ways to use the basic tools (just cubes, fizzlers, and maybe a funnel). But then, who can resist playing with a Sendificator?!

This is one of those maps I have to do a blow-by-blow of. There are just too many clever things not to give each one their due respect.

So, first off, I really like how you had a small "tutorial" for the sendificator at the beginning. It's always a good idea to introduce the player to something like that. I'll admit, when I first saw it, I thought it was just a really small map. I had almost forgotten how big it looked in the screenshot.

It really blows my brain up..I guess i'll have to come back to it next year...
Traveler807 12 févr. 2014 à 4h09
Wow! had to come back to this one a couple of times, am pleased to finally finish it. Truely epic piece of mapping, Enjoyed a lot:)
toncica  [créateur] 31 oct. 2013 à 6h10
The rest will be probably much less troubling, it's always the same part that people struggle with and that's out of the way now. :)
Brave 31 oct. 2013 à 5h56
Wow, that was awesome at 4mins 8secs how you teleported the cube directly under you like that using the 2nd cube to redirect the laser!
I did everything correctly like in your Vid. up to the point of not knowing what to do after getting the 2 cubes, but I stopped watching your Vid. at 4 mins. 9 secs to se if I can't figure out the rest myself.
Thanks for the Vid. toncica, that really helped because I spent so much time in this map never knowing what to do after getting those 2 reflector cubes!
toncica  [créateur] 31 oct. 2013 à 2h36
I've added a video walkthrough.
Brave 30 oct. 2013 à 21h09
Well same problem, I can get the 2 reflector cubes, but after that I'm stumped.
When I used the 2nd sendificator the only few portable surfaces I have to worked with, just end up firing my cubes into the goo!
I remember you telling me"The room below the sendificator device has a laser coming out the floor to hit a catcher on the ceiling, that's the one that needs to be blocked," but I can't figure it out!
So I accept defeat, and will not vote on this map!
toncica  [créateur] 27 oct. 2013 à 4h57
Hey Brave, thanks for the heads up and that your interest in the map hasn't dropped. Yeah, it was quite aggressive updating due to aggressive playtesting, always finding a loop hole to break the puzzle. At the end I ran into trouble with the engine crashing and I had to make it work with less critical elements and trim out the fat. I think it's all good now and I'd really like to be done with it finally. The updating has been tedious and sometimes I almost refused to keep doing it but then it started to bother me being beaten by test subjects. Since the first major update the main puzzle has not changed, everybody who has already solved the map the intended way should be able to exactly repeat the solution.
Brave 26 oct. 2013 à 19h54
Hey Toncica, I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgot about this chamber.
When you think you're done with the aggressive updating to this map just let me know and i'll give it another whirl.
quatrus 21 oct. 2013 à 17h21
No, I finally can solve it in a straightforward way as you noted. Sorting the cubes is not a big issue, but that bit would have been easier if one was different - gives a heads up that they might be important. My problem came with returning from the entry side chamber, I had an issue with the cube on/off the button and kept making the movable portal surface flip up and lost my portal when I was on the other side - making the solution seem harder than reality . Thanks for a great map - even with PTI sterile visual aesthetics.
toncica  [créateur] 20 oct. 2013 à 10h36
Maybe you're doing an unintended way, I think it's not difficult to execute or that easy to mess up. Unless you mix up the cubes.
There are further changes coming, in a demo by Prototype I saw several issue that need to be addressed.
quatrus 20 oct. 2013 à 10h03
Arrrgh, a cosmetically different third version...? Somewhere I made a mistake after putting the cube on the button in the entry side chamber ( the cube dropped over platform - maybe should be dirty?) and orange funnel back to the upper sendificator platform (still have portal in entry side chamber). Seems to easy to make one mistake and then get all messed up??
quatrus 20 oct. 2013 à 8h49
I am going to play again. I only got to the two laser cubes in the first version before it was updated so never finished. Both versions seemed hard to me, but they are quite different so both are good. I couldn't play either straight through (why I'm doing it again), as they took me too long so I played in pieces...
toncica  [créateur] 19 oct. 2013 à 16h20
If you completed the older version too, what's your impression puzzle wise, better or worse? Being difficult is not everything and I heard opinions which liked the simpler version more.
quatrus 19 oct. 2013 à 16h12
Thanks for the hint. I finished, but am not sure I could do it again...very difficult. Brilliant puzzle...!
toncica  [créateur] 18 oct. 2013 à 19h42
Sorry for the constant changes due to updating, I hope it's not too confusing but I'm really just fixing issues brought to my attention without touching the puzzle. Did you keep record which cube came from which dropper? The one from the dropper above the water has to come last, so if that's the one sitting in the lower room then you're all set. Now the hints: notice how close the button with the cube on it is to the fizzler, also notice that it will disable the light bridge when deactivated and if the other cube doesn't block the the laser in the lower room anymore. If you plan ahead just one step then you can have the second cube delivered to you while you're in the entry side chamber.
quatrus 18 oct. 2013 à 18h56
New map is quite different from your original. I'm having trouble finishing: I have a laser cube over in the entry side chamber on the button and both lasers there now activated - leaves me with the laser cube in the lower chamber and am lost on how to finish...I can get that cube out to the top of the entry side chamber or put it up on the light bridge and get back into the entry side chamber, but then am stuck with the cube fizzled and spawning into the goo... hints? toncica  [créateur] 16 oct. 2013 à 19h40
Map updated:

- extended puzzle
- no hidden logic
- no invisible connections (except one, you know the one)
- balanced, starts easy gets harder
- you can recover from any point as long as you're alive
- no unintended solutions (hopefully)
- much more challenging

Brave 16 oct. 2013 à 19h23
Thanks, i'll wait for your update.
toncica  [créateur] 16 oct. 2013 à 19h14
The room below the sendificator device has a laser coming out the floor to hit a catcher on the ceiling, that's the one that needs to be blocked. If you put a cube there to blockit you won't be able to get out again, so it's the sendficator that has to be used to put a cube in place while you're outside the room.
I'm ready to release the update, maybe that version will make that part clearer.
Brave 16 oct. 2013 à 18h57
After acquiring The 2 cubes theres no way for me to disable the fizzlers, the cubes get destroy passing through the fizzlers when using the sendificator!
I use the funnel to drop below where its bump out pass the fizzler so i don't fall into the goo, and then i change over keeping my portal on the other side of the map to pick up my laser, then using cube to redirect laser to hit catcher on back wall to enable lightbridge again, but laser catcher is to high up against the ceiling! What i'm tyring to do is hit the catcher on the back wall to disable the fizzler and activate lightbridge. Is that what I'm suppose to do?
toncica  [créateur] 16 oct. 2013 à 18h44
Yes, that's the correct idea. To enable the light bridge you first have to block the other laser, that's best done using the sendificator.
Brave 16 oct. 2013 à 18h36
Hey tonicica, I'm having problems beating this map of yours.
To solve this map after I have the 2 reflector cubes, do I have to figure out how to enable lightbridge again, and walk across the lightbridge with 1 of the cubes and block the laser?
toncica  [créateur] 13 oct. 2013 à 17h55
The update is not happening anytime soon if at all. The puzzle is solid at the moment and I don't want to make it worse.
@Brave, yes you can forget about the standard cube once it's on the cube button. From that point on you solve the puzzle only with the reflector cubes.
toncica  [créateur] 13 oct. 2013 à 15h12
The standard cube has served its purpose, you should not be able to reach it again. I recommend you wait with this chamber because I'm preparing a major update.
Brave 13 oct. 2013 à 14h47
Tough chamber so far, but i'm stuck at the moment having 2 reflective cubes, and 1 solid cube up on wall button that activate's dropper and glass angle panel which now drops my cube into the goo.
Am I suppose to figure out how to get the solid cube off the wall button to solve map, or can it be solve without removing cube from button?
Requiemsoul 8 oct. 2013 à 8h09
Epic! Unique, hard and awesome!.

nintendo.erk 4 oct. 2013 à 0h33
You used the sendificator in a very nice way although I'm not a big fan of the damn thing.
It's a me thing and has nothing to do with your design, that part is really good so I did give it a like :)
toncica  [créateur] 3 oct. 2013 à 2h56
@LPChip, rotating the cubes is not needed on this map, in fact I would prefer if the player never thinks of doing that. The way you solved the map in an unintended way I feel like you've missed out on the significant steps, thus making it appear to be medium while it should have been much more challenging. I've updated the map once again to force the player into the intended direction.
Donderbus 2 oct. 2013 à 14h06
Very good, very fun... but got a little bit of brain damage now.
𝓛𝓟𝓒𝓱𝓲𝓹 2 oct. 2013 à 13h35
Whew. I finally got to solve this one. Definitely easier than Dreamers version. This is still a good medium though. I've sent you the comments privately as it seems I did things unintended. I like your little tutorial level. Maybe you should include something that demonstrates how rotating the cube affects your laser afterwards
for example, you place a catcher on the left side in that cage to open that little door near the start.
toncica  [créateur] 2 oct. 2013 à 9h21
Updated many parts of the chamber. Less elements, more logic. No need for dexterity, just portals and the ability to not fall into the water. Should be very challenging. People without patience better leave now and see what's on the front page.
p0rtalmaster 30 sept. 2013 à 20h15
You didn't need to make this test more difficult than it already was. Because your tests are difficult and lengthy, some of your test subjects will have impatience. Keep in mind that we have a lot of tests to do outside of yours.

Also, the trapping issue in the screenshot (see the link) remains.
toncica  [créateur] 30 sept. 2013 à 16h16
Updated to fix several issues.
toncica  [créateur] 30 sept. 2013 à 15h04
Difficulty is challenging, could take an hour.
p0rtalmaster 30 sept. 2013 à 4h34
Also, I see that you tried hard to avoid having the player get trapped, however...
p0rtalmaster 30 sept. 2013 à 4h24
Initital impression: seems lengthy. What would you say the difficulty is?
