You shouldn't need to use console commands to get it going; using the console to start or advance any major questline is almost bound to cause problems down the road, though not the ones you're describing.
Andy Pipkin 26 Kwi - 16:43
in all, i would say its mainly the constant use of the console that causes issues, especially because I'm starting a full DLC's worth of quests, i think the save could become unstable and break, although i dont care as its been pretty funny and that is only a mod testing save. also i had to spawn in the shouts necessary to complete the quests.
Andy Pipkin 26 Kwi - 16:43
I've started the quest line through the console, i cant start or finish each quest without using it, I haven't done anything to preserve the save like back ups, I'm pretty sure its taking a toll on the save as many wierd things happen like flying horses, (tried to get a screenshot but it was fast, also i was laughing really hard). I've also had some NPC's like the rederan guards and the first time you meet miraak, the dialogue doesn't play, had to turn on the subtitles. although those issues can occur by excesive use of the console, also I'm using around 110 mods so it could be another mod messing up from the console use. I'm not too far in either, just finished the "Clearing the Stones" quest.

Actually, it would be helpful if you did and were able to let me know. Thanks!
Andy Pipkin 23 Kwi - 19:21
Thanks Chinagreenelvis, just wanted to make sure it wouldn't destroy my good save, I'm now tempted to try the questline on a bad save and see what happens :), thanks for the help!
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 23 Kwi - 8:27
Andy Pipkin: The dragonborn questline can still be started even if you choose to play as a non-Dragonborn character. The effects of continuing to play as a non-Dragonborn during the quest are unknown; it is recommended that you either switch your character to Dragonborn once the quest begins or use a mod like Timing is Everything [www.nexusmods.com] to postpone it indefinitely.
Andy Pipkin 23 Kwi - 2:41
I'm loving this mod, but i have a small question. I started a new game awhile ago and made myself not be the dragonborn, is it still possible to start the dragonborn DLC questline or not??
Thanks,

Andy
cybersmack 21 Kwi - 7:25
Okay, thanks very much! Great mod!
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 20 Kwi - 15:20
Yes. The MCM has descriptions for each option.
cybersmack 20 Kwi - 9:15
@Chinagreenelvis - Yeah I downloaded SkyUI and I think I changed it. If I want to enable random dragon spawns should I choose "Walls and spawns" ?
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 19 Kwi - 18:23
cybersmack: If you use SkyUI, you can use the MCM to change options in-game. If you do not have SkyUI, there is a options power given to your character. If you have neither, read the FAQ.
cybersmack 19 Kwi - 17:06
Hey, I've played with this mod for quite a while and really enjoy the flexibility it allows within the game.

At the start of this playthrough I chose to disable random dragon spawns, but now wish for them to be re-enabled. How can I do this? Thanks.
Nukem962001 18 Kwi - 14:19
@Chinagreenelvis: No problem, and thank you for the awesome mod.

chinagreenelvis  [autor] 18 Kwi - 13:50
Playshay710: Read the FAQ.

Savick: Read the FAQ.
Savick 18 Kwi - 10:37
I've had this mod for quit a while and I love it. But every time I create a character, it has an iron helmet on no matter what type of head covereing I choose. Am I doing something wrong? It's hard to see the hair and nose with the helmet on. I have a hair mod. Could this be the problem?
Playshay710 18 Kwi - 8:56
Hey when I started a new save it did the intro with the charater heading to helgan. Is this suppose to happen and if not hwo do i fix this?
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 17 Kwi - 22:55
Nukem962001: That actually is a possibility, and a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
Nukem962001 17 Kwi - 20:15
Would it be possible to add an option for time of day to start my game at? If so would you be willing to add that feature to the mod?
macadamstreet 16 Kwi - 22:27

chinagreenelvis  [autor] 16 Kwi - 21:48

chinagreenelvis  [autor] 15 Kwi - 15:16
The only thing killing a dragon will do is start the main quest when you absorb the soul. The best way to test out changes to the mod is to start a new game, obviously, but most problems are the result of a wrong load order.

Any changes you make to dragons in the Skyrim Unbound MCM should have immediate effect, meaning that if you turn on walls and spawns and then switch back to staggered, it will remove dragons and re-initiate the delay system I scripted. As for non-Dragonborn shouts, you generally have to fast-travel away from a word wall and back again for it to kick in.

But yes, a lot of information is in the change notes and discussions tabs.
YamiMarik1994 15 Kwi - 14:36
Once again, I'm an idiot. Deleted my last comment because I went to Falkreath and screwed around, then a dragon spawned. Don't know what changed this time, had to be because I killed the dragon at Bonestrewn Crest.
YamiMarik1994 15 Kwi - 14:15
Nevermind, I'm an idiot, I should be reading the change notes and discussion tabs. Sorry for all the trouble, I'm not at all used to using the Steam Workshop.
YamiMarik1994 15 Kwi - 13:45
Okay, after some testing, I've run into another issue. I still have Words and Spawns set, and I have the spawn time for dragons set to 1 day in between with Timing is Everything, set my timescale to what you did, and nothing is happening; no dragons or anything are spawning. Because I had Staggered Delay on for so long, do I have to kill a dragon at a Word Wall first to get the random spawns to trigger? The game is a lot more boring without the dragons around.
YamiMarik1994 15 Kwi - 5:59
Okay, thank you, I figured that's how it worked. Thank you for putting so much hard work into this mod.
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 14 Kwi - 23:25
The staggered delay works in accordance with the parameters set in the extra options menu. I tested it by hanging out at a word wall and then setting the timescale to something like 50000. It first turns on word wall dragons, then eventually random dragon spawns.

The "walls and spawns" setting turns on both automatically. You'll get dragons at word walls and random dragon attacks. Nothing in the mod directly affects the way the random dragon attacks work so it's fully compatible with others that do, like Deadly Dragons or Timing is Everything.

In order for a non-Dragonborn player to learn shouts, you simply check the "non-Dragonborn shouts" option in the main MCM menu.
YamiMarik1994 14 Kwi - 22:13
That was it. Fixed when updated. Now I do have one other question related to the recent version of this mod and how it handles the dragons. I assumed the new Delay features you added worked the same way as the previous versions and as such, having it set to "Walls and Spawns" would have the Word Walls active so you could get the power words; I can see this wasn't the case, although the MCM description is sparse on the details (The description here hasn't been updated to reflect these changes as far as I can see), so I had it set to Staggered Delay and just went with it.

Well, after having gone almost a month in-game without seeing one dragon, I did some testing and went to Bonestrewn Crest where a dragon always spawns; it wasn't there. When I turned Walls and Spawns on, the dragon appeared. So...since I turned Walls and Spawns on, will dragons start spawning at Word Walls and randomly in the world, or is my save screwed and I won't see any dragons at all for the duration of my game?
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 14 Kwi - 11:57
The Dragonborn quest has not been edited by Skyrim Unbound, so it will begin as normal. I suggest you use a mod like Timing is Everything to set additional requirements.
macadamstreet 14 Kwi - 10:27
this look interresting for me ( i not want restart again and again the same way to kill the dragon , save people, and still be a shit guy in middle of uncapacited people ask for small shit).
gonna try it and start as a classic mercenary ^^

i just have 1 question. how it affect the dragonborn quest ? specially the dragonborn main quest. do the guys come speak to me when i reach level 10-15 or do i need to travel to solstheim ? (boat/travel already unlocked and directly talk to solstheim peoples for "activate" the dragonborn dlc main quest)
i know this situation probably look weird as non dragonborn character, but whatever, i can beat this ^^
spiket31 9 Kwi - 18:26
thanks for the quick response!
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 9 Kwi - 15:00
spiket31: No, there should be no conflicts.
spiket31 9 Kwi - 14:16
searched around and the dicussions and a some of the comments and didnt see the answer so ill just ask, does this conflict with mods that add more playable races?
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 2 Kwi - 9:29
Nothing to do with this mod.
WePlayGames115 2 Kwi - 0:07
um i cant create a new game why?
Tyr Skovgaard 31 Mar - 7:38
Thanks, I found out what was wrong and fixed it. Thanks for you help chinagreenelvis.
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 31 Mar - 3:07
Since changes to the DLC would make them required, there are currently no edits to those quests or any DLC dialogue. If I had the time, I would make a separate version of the mod that does exactly that; unfortunately, I've spent more of my life on Skyrim Unbound than I ever intended to in the first place.
zergvsgenin 30 Mar - 19:33
Is there anything that affects the official DLCs? Hearthfire is easy enough to handle, since there are few to no references to the Dragonborn, but for non-Dragonborns, how does Dawnguard and the DB DLC work? Both require some progress in the main questline to start up or finish certain quests.
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 30 Mar - 16:11
Tyr: Run SkyrimLauncher.exe.
Tyr Skovgaard 30 Mar - 15:42
I need some help, I can't figure out how to download the mod after subscribbing.
DragonSlayer673 29 Mar - 10:17
ok, that's it, im subscribing to this mod.
The Wat King 29 Mar - 8:30
But this is wtill really good! I never even noticed the reset thing. This mod is so simple, yet so perfect! You honestly shoud consider expanding it to other websites so others can enjoy this too :D
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 28 Mar - 23:01
Well, to be fair, if you use the race menu option in the middle of your game, it will reset certain things. But that's just part of how the game's hard-coding handles that and there's no way around it. If there was, I'd implement it.
The Wat King 28 Mar - 18:42
This, by far, is my favorite alternet start mod I have ever used, yes, even better then "Alternet Start - Live another life". That thing is rubbish compaired to the immense freedom this mod gives you! It even allows you to edit your character during the game, allowing you to emmulate your character's growing up cycle, or if your unhappy with how s/he looks! If you put this on Nexus, I would bet it would be #1 in a year or two. :D
DragonSlayer673 25 Mar - 12:27
chinagreenelvis: well I did not know that! thanks for the heads up.
chinagreenelvis  [autor] 24 Mar - 18:11
Kidmanfive: The mod configuration menu is a feature of SkyUI. SKSE is required for SkyUI to function.

Swanbadboy: Read the troubleshooting section of the mod description and the FAQ.
swanbadboy 24 Mar - 12:52

swanbadboy 24 Mar - 12:50

DragonSlayer673 24 Mar - 12:27
uh, you mean SKSE? SkyUI doesnt add the mod configuration thing.
Nurse Redheart 23 Mar - 8:45
Yes, I did see that. I used it right away and it's working fine now. Thank goodness you included that. x3
