path to portal 2 maps on a windows 7 home premium 64 bit pc.
start / computer / C drive (or which ever one your operating system is on) /program files (x86) / steam / steam apps / common / portal 2 / portal 2 / puzzles / (now you see a folder with a long number) inside is your maps & screenshots of each map.
maps all end in p2c
you will recognise the screenshot's ending in jpg
the screenshot number will match the map number, it is associated with.
just backing up your maps with screenshots is enough.
steam will put everything else back for you.
on a new pc.
install steam / install portal 2.
with both closed, use path to find puzzles & delete what is inside & copy paste your backup, to that location.
it worked for me, a few times :)
ps. at the earlier stage, when you opened common.
you can see other games.
if you have workshop maps in any of the other games.
you can enter them from here.
eg "Thinking with time machine" ?

Yes I did that already. I copied the complete portal 2 directory to an external HD. So far I didn´t need to make a new win installation and re-transfer the portal backup. But if there is another save location outside the portal directory for the maps, I would appreciate a tip. Thanks.

Thanks mood. I like to create architecture in my maps, I have some more of this kind.
Also thanks for your tips regarding the item limitation, I knew that guide but it wasn´t in my bookmarks for portal guides, so I just added it.
In my newer maps I sometimes used hammer for the design, textures and some extra effects. It has much more capacities for items. It´s not as easy as the Portal Editor, but I think the basic functions like texturing and some other are not so hard to learn. There are a lot of good tutorials on youtube. You can export your PeTi created maps to hammer and modify them there.
If you want to learn more about it, let me know and I´ll gladly help you. I have some resources for good hammer tutorials.

ps. after reading your 1st comment,
about this map previously having more puzzle elements planned.
but due to the item limit. you had to leave them out.
I thought you might be interested in this:
a good guide for the Items limit:
further down in the guide, it mentions how many entities each item has.
beware of antlines. as long ones use a vast amount.
I have found the information extremely helpfull.

I though the way to get the reflector, in the 1st chamber was great.
I had a little trouble aligning the reflector in the 2nd chamber.
(no big problem. just a bit awkward)
but still a good chamber.
the conversion gel had me looking everywhere for a laser catcher or relay.
when eliminating where I could see.
their was only 1 place it could be :)
(their was a antline clue, from the laser field)
good map design.
from functionality to the way it looked :)

The jumps are a little scary but it seems to work :) The first floor puzzle is good. Slighty on the death map side. The other parts are ok... Easy compared to some of your other chambers :)

A bundle o' fun. Not as fiendishly devious as some of your other maps, but even so nothing is solved in a "beginner" sort of way. Always something a little tricky about it. Not sure why the person who posted in July was trying to take a cube to the exit.

I have no idea, what you did exactly and I had a lot of experienced player here and none of them bypassed the puzzles. Maybe you can make a video to show your solution way. I would be curious about it.

Most wouldn't go around the back of the top? I must be unusual then. I got through the first room without using the cube, Got the cube from the first floor out past the laserfield, and once I got to the roof I jumped back down to retreive it so I could take it through the exit. Alternatively, I could have entered the second floor without using the first faith plate at the end of the first floor, but I can't do that and rescue the cube.

Pretty easy, but definitely required some stopping to think (: I agree with machmanx, an easter egg up top would have been cool if you could have done it (although I'm not one to go exploring, I always miss the easter eggs haha.)

This was fun and easy. Nice use of the jump platforms.

I would add an easter egg or some sort of display on the other side of the top of the house. Most people would simply enter the gravity funnel to the exit, but only few would bother to get out and look on the other side ;)

By the way Zoraya, the whole first floor can be skip.
In the beginning before hitting the faith plate i can shoot 2 portals, 1 above the fizzler, and the other in front of the building, and drop right into the 2nd floor where the conversion gel is!
I'm sure you're gonna want to fix that!

It did have a good balance. I especially enjoyed the creativity of getting the cube and how flawlessly it was respawned for easy access while in the second room. I did not expect that so when it happened I was so pleased that I didn't have to start over in the other room on the floor to get it again. Thanks again.

Thank you Jade. It was fun to build, although it has less puzzle elements than originally planned because of the item limitation. But I hope it still has a good balance of atmosphere and challenge.
