It only affects certain large objects, not every object as that would nuke your performance on any system.

Well it is possible that those shrubs are objects which could be made visible when distant with the Creation Kit. The surefire way to fix pop in and visibility distance is to increase the ugrids setting, yes, if you have a computer that will handle the increased load.

I have a few mods installed that add a bunch of shrubs and other plants because I think Skyrim is too bare without them and I hate seeing them randomly popping in. So the only way to increase them (by a little) is to edit the cell/ grid range? I'm just iffy about editing the grid range because it causes so many problems and can't be undone (to saves anyway)

You can extend the grass distance in the .INI file, but it will only show up on fully loaded cells. Actual shrubs could probably be made visible when distant, but in my opinion, plants wouldn't contribute that much to the visuals at far range.

Finally found this mod to be preventing Heljarchen house to show up after attempting to build. I had built both other houses in Hearthfire. I have all DLC's, all Unofficials, unchecked this mod and now can build. Liked the mod, tho.

Would be nice if this was renamed to have "Vanilla" or something else added to the end to differentiate it from the Hearthfire version. This would've made it easier to figure out which mod was causing my issues with Hearthfire.

Unfortunately, the more I add the heavier the performance impact will be. There is a much more efficient take on this idea, called "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul," but last I checked, it isn't compatible with Hearthfire, so use caution if you're running that expansion.

There is a Hearthfire-friendly version available in the workshop. Search for Distant Detail Hearthfire Edition, and go ahead and disable the original Distant Detail plugin before downloading the new one.

That should get you back up and running.

I run SDO with Dawnguard. The issue is that it is not compatible with Hearthfire. I made SDO work with Hearthfire by opening all the .ESPs in Creation Kit and re-saving them with Hearth.esm activated as part of their dependent master files.

But if you're running just Dawnguard, it's fine.

Does the Skyrim Distance Overhaul work with Dawnguard? it says in the notes that it doesn't. Can anybody confirm this? I would gladly download the SDO if it works properly.

FN, thank you for the headsup. The Skyrim Distance Overhaul accomplishes what I was intending to do with this mod in a more sophisticated fashion. You might check it out. It does the same thing, and will hopefully not conflict with Hearthfire.

It shouldn't be INCOMPATIBLE, but I recommend you also check out the Skyrim Distance Overhaul on Skyrim Nexus. It's a more expanded, streamlined iteration of this idea.

I just got a 670 2GB video card. coupled with a core i5 2500k This game doesn't dip below 60fps : That's good that their is no conflict

There SHOULDN'T be any conflicts with HD texture packs, but you may get a significant drop in framerates depending on your rig.

I loved the mod but had to take it off because the FPS was dropping below 30fps in some places and most of Solitude was 15fps. With mod off 50fps+
I do run a serious amount of HD texture mods. System is Corei7 920, 6GB DDR3, 256GB Crucial SSD M4, eVGA GeForce 570 2.5GB Edition.

yeah idk ive tried many different ways to fix this issue but it wont load scenary detail trees grass etc. until im like 50 yards i can still see further than 50 yards its just very undetailed landscape and such

When you say the view distance is reduced, do you mean the game is literally clipping out details at a very short distance (as in, it just turns to fog), or objects, characters and items aren't showing up until you're very close to them?

You can modify all those values in the skyrim ini files by hand.

If you're running around 20 graphics mods, chances are there is a conflict somewhere with this mod.

I'd say if you've got the kind of hardware to get 70-80 FPS with 20 graphics mods, just increase your ugridstoload value in the skyrim.ini file.

how can i increase view distance manually because aon my graphics are all set on ultra and im running around 20 graphics mods hardware isnt the problem i run all that and still get around 70-80 fps depending upon location

Douchen, I don't have a clue. What happens if you try to set your detail settings and view distance manually? Any difference? If the game takes longer to load, it's only because it's having to load in additional objects, but the view distance should be entirely unaffected.

Well I'm having fps troubles with this. I have a 6950 and it was taking a solid 10fps off in the riverwood area (~50 to ~40). Most areas I only see about a 1-5 frame decrease, but when you have a bunch of little mods that eat at fps it adds up, so I had to disable.

Jack, so far nobody has reported any serious FPS impact. Your performance might vary depending on your hardware.

Kazim, if your PC can run Skyrim at 11 ugrids (even though anything above a value of 9 will affect stability) why on earth would you bother with this mod? I already explained what this mod does and who it is for, if you read the description.
