Distant Detail

Eh... Just tired of setting graphics to low and not seeing anybody until they're in melee range. Puts a small damper on snipers, :P
Kazoomie  [author] Oct 26 @ 3:28pm
The only way I know of to increase the draw distance for people is in the SkyrimPrefs file in My Documents/My Games/Skyrim. Find the line fLODFadeOutMultActors=15.0000 and increase the number to 25 or so. I think that controls it, but you can also check out a tweak guide for Skyrim to be sure.
Tuprewm Oct 25 @ 11:21pm
Any chance you'll possibly do this for people, too?
Kazoomie  [author] Jul 16 @ 11:01am
No problem, have fun!
Vaibhav Vishal Jul 16 @ 11:00am
ok, then I will download those which are in the disription, thanks
Kazoomie  [author] Jul 16 @ 10:55am
Yes you may also find it on Steam Workshop:

The Distant Detail mods are outdated, but I keep them online for people who still want them. I recommend and personally use the mods linked to in the description, as they are able to achieve the results I was striving for in a much more efficient way.
Vaibhav Vishal Jul 16 @ 10:51am
ok, sure. Isn't that hearthfire edition on steam?
Kazoomie  [author] Jul 16 @ 10:49am
Vishal, my apologies, my comments queue showed this topic and Birds and Flocks Hearthfire right next to each other. In my head I thought I was replying to a post on Birds and Flocks Hearthfire.

You will encounter houses not showing up with this mod if you're running Hearthfire. Please download the Hearthfire Edition of Distant Detail here:

Again, sorry for my oversight about which topic I'm replying to.
Vaibhav Vishal Jul 16 @ 10:46am
ok, I will subscribe
Kazoomie  [author] Jul 16 @ 10:15am
Yes, it works with Legendary
Vaibhav Vishal Jul 16 @ 9:17am
I have legendary edition, will this mod work?
wildsoft Oct 2, 2014 @ 5:38pm
well you did good, it's on a lot of pc's even still... someone should make a list of hq recomended addons
Kazoomie  [author] Oct 1, 2014 @ 11:58pm
There's a mod called the Skyrim Distance Overhaul (I think) that does the same thing that my mod does, only I believe it is with more optimized meshes. I don't really support this mod much anymore because it was made in a time when there wasn't any other mod available to make distant objects visible. I definitely recommend you check out the Distance Overhaul.
wildsoft Oct 1, 2014 @ 9:39pm
Someone should include the "Distant Detail HF" this fix will add for the Heathfire compatability

marvellous! 100% graphics upgrade! TYVM
RockZ Dec 23, 2013 @ 5:22am
nice :) works fine for me
Kazoomie  [author] Dec 20, 2013 @ 12:13pm
It only affects certain large objects, not every object as that would nuke your performance on any system.

Works pretty well. Happy to be using it.
chardo527 Nov 29, 2013 @ 9:58pm
Please put the Hearthfire Edition on Steam, Nexus gets too confusing, and for some reason my NMM is not working right now.
przemasg90 Sep 23, 2013 @ 4:27am
bad soo bad
i find better
Death666Saint May 26, 2013 @ 4:31pm
I decided to increase ugrid. My PC can handle it at 7. Thanks for all the feedback and for the awesome mod!
Kazoomie  [author] May 26, 2013 @ 9:50am
Well it is possible that those shrubs are objects which could be made visible when distant with the Creation Kit. The surefire way to fix pop in and visibility distance is to increase the ugrids setting, yes, if you have a computer that will handle the increased load.
Death666Saint May 25, 2013 @ 1:09pm
I have a few mods installed that add a bunch of shrubs and other plants because I think Skyrim is too bare without them and I hate seeing them randomly popping in. So the only way to increase them (by a little) is to edit the cell/ grid range? I'm just iffy about editing the grid range because it causes so many problems and can't be undone (to saves anyway)
Kazoomie  [author] May 25, 2013 @ 12:25pm
You can extend the grass distance in the .INI file, but it will only show up on fully loaded cells. Actual shrubs could probably be made visible when distant, but in my opinion, plants wouldn't contribute that much to the visuals at far range.
Death666Saint May 25, 2013 @ 11:07am
Any way to increase plant lod?
le fond du slip Apr 21, 2013 @ 12:28am
graet mod
iceteaman49 Feb 20, 2013 @ 6:45am
nice idea
topetazo Feb 18, 2013 @ 2:14am
Finally found this mod to be preventing Heljarchen house to show up after attempting to build. I had built both other houses in Hearthfire. I have all DLC's, all Unofficials, unchecked this mod and now can build. Liked the mod, tho.

BOSS identified and error in this mod: "Error: Use Distant DetailHF.esp" Just an FYI for the creator: Kazoomie
Pierre Feb 17, 2013 @ 11:07am
Good, good.
Vortex-Pixalation Feb 9, 2013 @ 8:52am
is this compatable with heathfire
Brett Keane Feb 9, 2013 @ 4:55am
Go to nexus? Nah...If you can't do it here not interested.
bitl Feb 7, 2013 @ 1:32am
Cool mod, many thanks!
What is the "ugridstoload setting" you've mentioned and where do I configure it?
ScottSteiner Jan 2, 2013 @ 12:02am
Would be nice if this was renamed to have "Vanilla" or something else added to the end to differentiate it from the Hearthfire version. This would've made it easier to figure out which mod was causing my issues with Hearthfire.
TurtleDuck Dec 30, 2012 @ 1:10am
i really appreciate you communicating with your consumers and even reccomending a mod you're in competition with, it's always great to see things like that
Rodelero Dec 9, 2012 @ 9:24pm
alright cools man thanks
Kazoomie  [author] Dec 9, 2012 @ 6:17pm
Unfortunately, the more I add the heavier the performance impact will be. There is a much more efficient take on this idea, called "The Skyrim Distance Overhaul," but last I checked, it isn't compatible with Hearthfire, so use caution if you're running that expansion.
Rodelero Dec 9, 2012 @ 2:52am
is it possible to add more?
besides that its anice little mod.
Kazoomie  [author] Nov 22, 2012 @ 3:18pm
There is a Hearthfire-friendly version available in the workshop. Search for Distant Detail Hearthfire Edition, and go ahead and disable the original Distant Detail plugin before downloading the new one.

That should get you back up and running.
Kazoomie  [author] Oct 13, 2012 @ 8:12am
I run SDO with Dawnguard. The issue is that it is not compatible with Hearthfire. I made SDO work with Hearthfire by opening all the .ESPs in Creation Kit and re-saving them with Hearth.esm activated as part of their dependent master files.

But if you're running just Dawnguard, it's fine.
Zaniaac Oct 12, 2012 @ 7:09pm
Does the Skyrim Distance Overhaul work with Dawnguard? it says in the notes that it doesn't. Can anybody confirm this? I would gladly download the SDO if it works properly.
Kazoomie  [author] Oct 10, 2012 @ 9:52am
Distant Detail Hearthfire Edition is now available in the Steam Workshop!

Thanks for your patience!
Kazoomie  [author] Oct 6, 2012 @ 8:12pm
FN, thank you for the headsup. The Skyrim Distance Overhaul accomplishes what I was intending to do with this mod in a more sophisticated fashion. You might check it out. It does the same thing, and will hopefully not conflict with Hearthfire.
FN Oct 6, 2012 @ 2:21pm
This doesn't seem to be compatible with Hearthfire. It stops housebuilding, as far as I can tell. Oh well, I enjoyed using it. WD.
Kazoomie  [author] Aug 8, 2012 @ 12:54pm
It shouldn't be INCOMPATIBLE, but I recommend you also check out the Skyrim Distance Overhaul on Skyrim Nexus. It's a more expanded, streamlined iteration of this idea.
Mythicia77 Aug 8, 2012 @ 5:09am
Is this compatible with Dawnguard?
Zaniaac Jun 12, 2012 @ 3:36pm
I just got a 670 2GB video card. coupled with a core i5 2500k This game doesn't dip below 60fps : That's good that their is no conflict
