Ok, but not fun because of tedious gel placement on the light bridge. Combined with the gel not surviving an F6/F7 restore ruins an otherwise great map.
Mr.bob806 May 11, 2016 @ 2:08pm
I love it. Took a few tries, but it feels pretty well built
JMSLD_ Jun 1, 2015 @ 10:08am
Took me ages to get through the first hop. Split second timing. Got the second hope first time round :)
p0rtalthumper May 14, 2014 @ 8:59pm
Some skill map...wow! My only complaint: gel won't save on hard light bridges! Of course that's engine level. VALVe!!...

Nice map, but the flight for the blue gel activation was making me nervous. Had to try it few times.

I found the franken cube clearly surrounded by glass, had no problem with this. Agree with the gel on bridges though.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Dec 20, 2013 @ 12:34pm
Yeah, I don't know why I did that.
Nethseäar Dec 20, 2013 @ 11:57am
Tricky. I had to use a friend's computer (mine is laggy) to get the mid-air portal placements. I love the idea of using gel on lightbridges, though getting the right amount is frustrating, and quicksaves don't keep gel on them, which is made worse by repeatedly dying in the gel or failing to place portals quickly enough. I would recommend getting rid of the franken cube, as I found myself spending an inordinate amount of time thinking it was important, and then was frustrated when I realized it was impossible to get.

Nonetheless, a good chamber. Thanks!
Blue Dec 15, 2013 @ 6:01pm
Not bad. Picky as you said.

Hammer would fix everything but I have no real interest to invest time learning the complex tool.
Scoundrel Nov 30, 2013 @ 2:48pm
I found myself annoyed after playing this map. Had to check the walkthrough, finished it, and was still annoyed. I don't like scenarios where things are intentionally and unnecessary configured to make it harder. The cube/turret thing just distracted me from thinking, while it chattered at me (I guess I could have turned the speakers off), and the cross-light bridge made it harder to get enough speed gel on the main light bridge to finish it. Was that really necessary? I felt that too much precise timing was required. I figure Portal is supposed to be a puzzle game, not a reflex-twitching game. But that's just my style, I guess.
gambilier Nov 27, 2013 @ 8:54am
Very fun to play, much thinking is required.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Oct 29, 2013 @ 9:07pm
Uploaded my own solution video. This should clear up any problems people are facing. Just keep trying. It is a map that has its trouble spots that I have no idea how to fix yet.
Warthog Algebra Oct 19, 2013 @ 3:21pm
Great test chamber! I enjoyed the challenge of having to think and do things with the gel in ways that other tests normally wouldn't need me to do; thanks for making it!
I'm starting a new collection of fairly easy tests that focuses on each chamber being based on a single element. I've seen your comments on other tests and I'd really apreciate it if you would try it out and give me your ideas! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=187333645

@geeklandify,My hint to you: go through each step correctly, and remember to crouch and look around where you get stuck.
Geeky Sep 22, 2013 @ 2:28pm
i cant fig this one out yet.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 18, 2013 @ 11:25am
It could be your on-screen recorder messing up the timings...
RectorRocks Sep 18, 2013 @ 4:41am
Great map with logical puzzles but with a little hard execution in it.
Here's my playthrough:

Thumbs up! Thanks for mapping!
Cheers! :)

Box is not needed. It is merely something that hinders your progress. Remember you can stand on the button to activate the things that are connected to it.
Shadetrap [TD] Sep 17, 2013 @ 11:25am
I lost the box.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 16, 2013 @ 10:57pm
Nope. Place portal while light is vertical when looking down. I knew that getting trapped down there was a possibility so the placements from the fling are still active.
drew Sep 16, 2013 @ 12:46pm
I got trapped after hitting the button for the blue gel after falling down into a 1 square wide pit with glass walls on three sides...
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 15, 2013 @ 12:36am
Meaningless? Its only meaning is training. F6 is your friend.
Skullbucket Sep 15, 2013 @ 12:31am
the dying repeatedly is reallly annoying. Especially with having to go bakc to the first meaningless 20 seconds of the test.....

Great Map!!
guruji1000 Sep 14, 2013 @ 3:24am
Nice one, man ! Quite original.
Would you like to try mine ?
Patrick Sep 14, 2013 @ 12:04am
The jump was indeed very difficult. Sometimes i even missed the blue gel. So maybe there should be more, but the map deserves a thumbs up.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 13, 2013 @ 9:18pm
Read description. That is why it took a few tries. For the last sentence, that was remains of a previous configuration. I want to remove it but it served as a starting point to start running from. I feel removing it would ruin the test chamber somehow.
Naurgul Sep 13, 2013 @ 8:57pm
Two spots, one of the was the dual portal angled things while on air (which took me like 10 minutes, which is a lot of retries for a sequence that takes 5 seconds to complete) and the other was getting the final orange gel corridor right . For a few minutes, no matter what I tried, I ended up with a slightly shorter strip of orange gel on the hard light than I needed to make the final jump . I ended up watching a walthrough video only to realise that if I placed my portals slightly differently, then the orange gel would pass above the blocking hard light and make a slightly longer orange gel strip to run across . Speaking of which, what purpose did that hard light blocking the path of the gel serve? I still don't get it.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 13, 2013 @ 8:39pm
Too much? There is only one spot which requires "twitch gameplay". How were you doing it then? I'm curious. Does your solving match the videos I linked?
Naurgul Sep 13, 2013 @ 7:27pm
This map requires way too much twitch play, which boils down to trial and error. Very frustrating. Also, I didn't understand what was the point of the hard light blocking the path of the orange gel. Makes creating the final gel corridor a pain.
Surgical atx` Sep 12, 2013 @ 6:15pm
nice! thx for the lesson!
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 12, 2013 @ 5:55pm
Place two angled panels; the first angled panel deployed and the other undeployed. Hook them both up to the same activator (in this case the laser catcher). Don't select the activator to hide the antlines but rather what object you want to hide the antlines from. Make sure that the activator requires a portal to keep it activated (the portal redirected laser keeps the laser catcher activated to keep the door open and the other door by the fizzler closed). Once you pass through the fizzler, the doors return to their original state because the portal placements that keep the laser catcher activate fizzle. A similar effect can be done for a portal redirected funnel, cube, and sideways/upside-down button.
Surgical atx` Sep 12, 2013 @ 4:00pm
how did u make the glass angled panel come up only after u pass thru the fizzler?

Yeah, I've played and completed everything he's made since Portal 1. There are many other really good map makers as well though. Just as good as him, but he kind of got the spotlight early on and Valve took notice, so anything he submits goes to front page.
Anyway, yeah, that's why I bitch about the front page maps in some of my vids. They're unpolished and too easy. A bunch of 10 year olds are voting for them apparently. :-D
wildgoosespeeder  [author] Sep 9, 2013 @ 11:03am
People want things easy which is what 90% of workshop content is. I don't want things to come too easy but also don't want things to come too hard as well. I try to create quality content that people want to play. I'm not a willy-nilly Portal 2 level designer or whatever. I'm not just going to release a map for the sake of it, which often makes for easy going tests. I try to emulate Mevious. He is king of Portal 2 level design here on the workshop. His puzzles are challenging to the mind. His maps are worthwhile playing. I think there is a difference between his content vs. the rest of almost everyone else's content. I'm sure you can see that difference too.
DeathWish808 Sep 9, 2013 @ 9:22am
Not sure what people are bitching about. There's nothing in here that I thought was any more diffcult than in the single or coop player campaigns. I made a blind run for you and I think I did everything as intended. Never saw any shortcuts. Nice map!

I have rated this one up. It's a great map. I just can't do. Others have, so it can be done. Good job on really hard mqp.

Nice room, found a solution quickly, but it took time to carry it out. After the third failure had to take a quick save. =)

Хорошая комната, решение нашел быстро, но понадобилось время что бы его выполнить. после третьей неудачи пришлось воспользоваться быстрым сохранением. =)

Very nice! The jump where you shoot portals in mid-air was a little tricky, but it was put together so thoughtfully that I really had nothing to complain about (plus there's always f6). Fantastic job. :)

Would anyone like to try my maps?

Nice map, challenging puzzles and tricky maneuvers. One thing I didn't like... The one where you have to shoot both portals as you fly though the air, I feel it didn't give you enough time to get both portals out. It got a little annoying having to redo the same part just because my reflexes weren't fast enough.
