It isn't Hammer, although that obviously one of the influences in the design. :)

I really like the fact that the it makes game development kinda easier, the gameplay looks pretty good, I just can't wait to have this... Also, the world editor seems to be kinda like Hammer, so I hope it's that easy to use.

I am very excited for this program and can't wait till it comes out. I love the fact that you are trying to make an affordable, easy to use program, so that anyone can make games. I also love that you are making this with linux in mind. I hope it all works well. It looks extremely prommissing and I am definately going to buy it when it comes out.
Leadwerks Software  [author] Dec 31, 2013 @ 2:01pm
@c_a_mcgregor, we import FBX files, which Blender exports, but one of our Kickstarter campaign goals is actually a native Blender exporter. So yes, it's coming.

@ErikComix, I happen to be a huge Hammer fan, and would love to work on a modern cross-platform equivalent. If it's economically viable, I am certainly interested in something like that.
ErixComix Dec 31, 2013 @ 1:44pm
Will you release a sort of 'cross platform Hammer editor' for free? Like a lite version with limited features? Because I really want to make Source maps on my Mac! I'd even pay like $15, but $99 is to much for what I'm going to use Leadwerks for.
c_a_mcgregor Dec 31, 2013 @ 6:42am
Can you import assets from Blender?
Leadwerks Software  [author] Dec 24, 2013 @ 2:20pm
@McCloud Jr. the price is $99.
Leadwerks Software  [author] Dec 24, 2013 @ 2:10pm
The license is you make your game and do whatever you want with it, No royalties, no splash screen required, no additional fees.
Base Defender Dec 20, 2013 @ 7:19pm
What kind of licensing will this have in terms of distributing and/or selling games?

Leadwerks is compiling on Ubuntu 13.04, though all I get at this point is a blue screen. -_-

Funny, isn't that how Windows dies?

I CAN'T believe that I discovered this project/Kickstarter the day after it ends!

Been wanting to make the jump to Linux full-time for ideological reasons, and was always upset that Unity3D or UDK IDEs weren't available. I've never made a game before but have been looking into it for ages and your engine/IDE/Steam hooks seem to be PERFECT for my uses!

It would be great if we could get the iOS/Android export options in the Steam edition! Obviously we can't steal Valve assets for those games - but it would be really great to build a gorgeous multiplatform game in Linux. It would be a dream come true!

Great job - after just watching John Carmack's keynote at QuakeCon and seeing that you're also looking at Megatextures this put a huge smile on my face!

A.

Congrats to Leadwerks for making it's Linux funding goal! I think this engine is a really good value option for Indie developers. Especially ones who want to work exclusively on the Linux Platform. There are many 3d game engines knocking about that can export to Linux, but not many working natively in Linux itself, and even less (if any) offering the kind of graphical fidelity Leadwerks 3 is offering. Definitely worth supporting for a Steam release too!
Zimica Jul 18, 2013 @ 4:03am

That was my fault. A section of one video was added at the last minute and we forgot to notify the author. It's removed.
