The game does auto-adjust the lighting, but when you enter the level... yeah, that was a flashbang of a room! :D

Ended up cheesing part of it by a portal set just near the fizzler sideways. Funneling up from there, I could shoot the portal to re-position the cube on the button, then hold S for a little to land on the top ledge without the intended "do it from the funnel itself" angle. Looked at the video to see what the intended solution was and I didn't cheese that much of it, but still.

Had me going around in circles absolutely! Clever level.

Uhm...it IS pretty bright, at no time it is too dim. Tbh I thought this was part of the concept of a "white room" ;-)

@RedstonePatradox, I'll take "the lighting is a bit bright" over "sufficiently lit" any day. Thank you! To be honest, the last time I saw this chamber it seemed to be a bit too dim. So maybe we have very different graphics settings and I tried to overcompensate the lighting.

Even tho this is really small and there is one funnel and 2 buttons, this was so advanced and clever. I thought of every solution that wouldn't work and then thought of the one that would. Fantastic.

Still a great puzzle. @toncica, over two years ago you asked: "to be honest I don't quite understand the enthusiasm of an experienced player for this very simple puzzle. Are you sure you didn't do something more clever than the intended solution? ;)" - no, it just took me a long time to see the obvious - I was a bit quicker this time ;)

Brilliant puzzle. I tried all sorts of things before stumbling on (what I assume is) the intended, very elegant solution. Thumbs up, added to favourites and 'White Room’ , not so simple edition, now in my queue.

Yea it was just fooling around. Dont worry about it. As u said, if this happens, a restart wont lose much time in the puzzle.

Did you notice the title of the chamber? The idea is to not have a single black tile in it. ;)
I could make it that you can't portal there, the question is if it's really necessary. With such a short puzzle you don't lose any progress by restarting the map if this thing would happen accidentally.

I was deliberatedly trying to do that. Kind of a rage quit moment after i failed realizing how to solve it :ghsmile:
To fix it its simple: Just unportal the floor tile which is facing the dropper, assuming it wont damage the solving process.

I know about this issue, but didn't think it would be an issue on this map. Did it happen to you by accident here or were you just experimenting what could go wrong? I'd rather not edit the map if it's unlikely to happen to anyone, unless there was a valid reason somebody would put the funnel under the dropper.

I havent finished the puzzle yet but i've found a way to break it. Not in term of solving it in a different way, but to make it unsolvable.
Like any puzzle with a cube dropper and a tractor beam, whenever the beam is aimed directly at the dropper from below, it makes the next-cube-to-be-dropped to fly in that small spawn area inside the dropper, when u force the dropper to drop a cube, it will keep the already-existed cube to float inside the dropper while spawning another cube, thus making 2 cubes inside the dropper. When this happens, its impossible to drop a cube regardless if there is a beam directed at it or not.

Btw, having a pressure/pedestal button wont fix this.

I finally solved the "main" White Room, and strangely, I prefered this simple edition.
The solution statisfied me much more. I really like this test, well done for making it !

I crossed it, stopped, found fruitless ideas, until a clean and simple solution came. I liked it. A recorded blind run would have been annoying because I didn't move a lot, so I just recorded a demo with my solution, which I'm sure is the intended one (unfortunately ^^) http://d0bgqy.1fichier.com/ (I don't have anything yet to record demos, that's why it's a "dem" file)

I see, in the latest edits I was fixing unintended solutions and portal bumping while not paying attention to the lighting. Map updated, you can take off your sunglasses now. ;)

Lighting tip: remember that white reflects light. That said, we don't need the blinding light of many observation rooms and light strips. The less the better.

I see, thanks for the video. That is not 100 % intended as you have guessed. To avoid uncertainty I tried to prevent your solution. The only way I saw how to fix it without major changes was to limit the time available. I hope the additional button doesn't hurt the puzzle.

Horribly, horribly underated map! Good mechanic, which had me stumped for a little while - I have no idea why it should cause such a mental block, but it did. I've done enough maps and found enough alternative solutions and exploits to overcome this with ease, but not so... Nice work. I ran the solution 4-5 times to make sure I understood the process. Maybe certain maps have brainwashed me into missing the solution for so long, I dunno... Now, onto the the 2 other white rooms... Cheers.
