I want a Japanese implementation.
When will that be implemented?

GUI looks extremely ugly.

Good, but nothing to pay for

good
Feathers Aug 31, 2013 @ 11:07pm
How could I say no to a studio with that name?
Trapinch Aug 22, 2013 @ 2:40pm
I feel compelled to say no. Not just with my vote but with some text at the bottom. NO.
valfunkhouser Aug 13, 2013 @ 4:18am
I love that this has so many hand drawn levels. I feel that will add to the complexity and enjoyment of this game for me, since it's less about computer generated easy maps and more about the raw creativity of the development team. Good luck!
Vert Aug 7, 2013 @ 4:26pm
I dunno why but this looks fun as hell! Hope it makes it through the greenlight!!
nilschillerk Aug 3, 2013 @ 4:37pm
yep

Use comic sans but use it 'ironically.' Also is it possible to add an less attractive and overweight human female in a real role? Feel free to keep the ridiculous chainmail thong armor, just add some cottage cheese for realism and maybe a spider vein or two.
C0untzer0 Jul 10, 2013 @ 3:05pm
The art style reminds me of the original Lord of the Rings film.
You should change the name because somebody used the name quest before and that means you can't.
Grognard_87 Jul 8, 2013 @ 4:27pm
Reminds me of Defender's Quest, but with a different art style. In fact I quite like this art style. It's quite dark.
Ōkami Jul 8, 2013 @ 7:25am
ShieldWarden, why don't you just STFU and go and tell the defender's quest people to stop using the word defender because there are dozens of games before them that use the word, oh, and tell them to stop plagiarizing The Shinning Force series from SEGA, the games are too similar.
LiEyWe Jul 6, 2013 @ 8:07am
tower defense... i know many games of this kind, and most of them are boring
SiNistR Squirrel Jun 27, 2013 @ 8:05am
No need to get snarky man. I'm only trying to help. I understand that Defender's Quest doesn't have the monoply on the word 'Defender', but it's just bad business sense to let people draw those conclusions in the first place. Since you have this on Steam, then you obviously want it to be sold and to make some profit. I'm just trying to help you distinguish yourself as a different game at first glance.

Just sitting back and saying, "Well, I'll let people make their own conclusions, 'cause I'm not changing it." is only going to hurt you. You've already had people make the comparison for the worse. Not everyone will take the time to read about your game and will look at the title, see the screenshots and say, "This is just a ripoff." and move on.

Distinguishing yourself in the genre/medium is one of the first rules of business.

Lo stile grafico e' intrigante e fresco
Gentr1  [author] Jun 26, 2013 @ 12:52pm
I am afraid that Defender's quest does not have the monopoly of the word 'Defender', nor is it the first tower defense game on the block. So, no. I don't intend to change the title. And if people make comparisons, let them simply try the game and discover at their own convenience that, also belonging to the genre tower defense, it is a different and original game with a completely different story, artwork, and game mechanics.
SiNistR Squirrel Jun 26, 2013 @ 11:22am
Yeah, I understand that you're attached to the name, but people are going to keep making that comparison to Defender's Quest if you don't, and they'll just call it a ripoff.

Why not call it Brotherhood of the Shield? Conveys the tower defense message, has story and character significance, and it generally sounds better.
Fenroar Jun 20, 2013 @ 5:18am
you might want to improve the UI a bit.
Gentr1  [author] Jun 20, 2013 @ 3:51am
Hi Friend! No change of name I am afraid. I want it to say that it is about tower defense. I really liked defender quest, but my game has quite different game mechanics. I can assure you it feels very different when you play it because of the colored gems system. Anyway, the lite free version of the game (and the full version) are now available to download at http://labouroflovestudio.com so you can see for yourself!!
Yung Venuz Jun 19, 2013 @ 9:47pm
for the love of god please at least change the name
Yung Venuz Jun 19, 2013 @ 9:46pm
this is like literally the same game as defender's quest lmfao
Kana Jun 19, 2013 @ 2:53am
Strategy and casual are mutually exclusive, so... no.
Issac Clarke, Slayer of noobs Jun 17, 2013 @ 6:38pm
what is up with the black out side??? is it like they're in a black hole or void? all i know is it gives me a headache to look at and i need mental energy to play so no for now
F`Z |Contrforce Jun 17, 2013 @ 12:10pm
good
Aargh! Jun 16, 2013 @ 1:44pm
I'm kind of surprised there are still people who aren't sick to death of cheap Tower Defense games...
RougeMacabre Jun 16, 2013 @ 8:20am
Looks really cool! :)
Excyte Jun 16, 2013 @ 5:41am
Like the art but wasn't this meant to be a free flash game to begin with?
BoogeyMan™ Jun 15, 2013 @ 1:05am
Идея очень хорошая и думаю что когда игра выйдет многие её купят.
Mivo Jun 14, 2013 @ 11:17pm
Actually, this looks interesting! I dig the graphics style which strays from the now and shows creativity. Too early too say much about the gameplay, but this is definitely a game to keep an eye on.
rudeboyskunk Jun 14, 2013 @ 4:57pm
holy shit, this looks GOOD
Victor Jun 14, 2013 @ 9:38am
Это не стратегия.
Fellinz Jun 14, 2013 @ 8:22am
Думаю это очень даже хорошая стратэгия.
Celebrimnar Jun 13, 2013 @ 11:32pm
You made a lot of effort in art, but the gameplay looks so boring and amateur. I hope you can improve that, so I will save my vote
Starmine Jun 13, 2013 @ 8:40pm
Love the art style, Upvote!
Mogg Jun 13, 2013 @ 2:26am
Sorry, but I already own a few tower defense games I am happy with. I don't need more.
-Silver Surfer- Jun 12, 2013 @ 1:18pm
ANOTHER TOWER DEFENCE GAME REALLY ARENT THERE ENOUGH ALREADY ?
cMMM Jun 12, 2013 @ 3:37am
Porra, muito legal.. gostei :D
Matariki Jun 12, 2013 @ 1:32am
Although I highly admire the amount of work that this gone into this, unfortunately its not my cup of tea. But I wish you the best of luck.
[AA] AuburnHamster Jun 11, 2013 @ 12:16pm
well it doesn't really look like its up to the sort of quality of most games that get greenlit but i can see that a lot of effort has been put in with very poor gear so i will upvote it
Resolute Jun 11, 2013 @ 8:28am
Tower Defense genre is such a lazy game genre.
Jerry Jun 11, 2013 @ 7:34am
The black-white battlegrid kills it for me.
Gentr1  [author] Jun 11, 2013 @ 3:31am
Agreed. mate. The art illustration was made by Victor Garcia Puig... See his gallery at: http://victorgarciapq.deviantart.com/

艺术图不错
Gentr1  [author] Jun 10, 2013 @ 6:22pm
Just to say I have changed the font as I was advised. Following megamisto's advice, I put a mini tutorial video that explains basic game mechanics. There are many more things such as the unique abilities of all hero units and how they complement each other, but, that is a beginning.
And about the animation, well, not much I can do to improve it, because I would need to pay artists to do it, and money is kind of in short supply. So far I am simply grateful to the open source animated bits I was able to reuse...
Demhier zu Ehren Jun 10, 2013 @ 6:07pm
Wow, the animation sucks! Looks like a cheap-ass browser game you can't possibly expect people to spend money on.
TastyWheat Jun 10, 2013 @ 5:24pm
The artistic styling is kind of cool, seeing each level presented as an "animated map" of sorts. Obviously there was only a hint of the actual gameplay. I think if you give it enough unique elements, no easy task since tower defense games are a dime a dozen these days, and if you maintain the artistic style throughout this could be a great game. I'll say "maybe" for now.
Gentr1  [author] Jun 10, 2013 @ 4:23pm
Good point about the spell-checking... I have just gone through it, and I have no doubt wilco64256 would have gone mad half game :)
A couple of juicy examples:
'We will make death will rain upon them...'
'Men, march foward !'

Hopefully there should not be any more spelling mistakes. Except the intentional ones off course...
I can't resist putting a bit of game dialog in here:

Arlong: We should really do something less risky. Something more relaxing, like storming castles and raiding orc camps... Since I got an ARROW IN THE KNEE, I lost my youthful enthusiasm for doing dangerous things like that.
Kran: as the famous shaman Gorgus Shaaw used to say: in a battle all you need to make you fight is a little hot blood and the knowledge that it's more dangerous to lose than to win.

(notice that the famous shaman Gorgus Shaaw might be mistaken for a certain George Bernard Shaw)
