Now that the creationkit for Skyrim Special Edition is out, will you re-release this mod on Bethesda.net?
♍Cupeo♍ 29 черв. 2016 о 18:32
Alright cool, thanks for clearing that up and thanks for the mod!
Drakmyth  [автор] 29 черв. 2016 о 18:19
@Hipn0tikSponje It sure does! :)
♍Cupeo♍ 29 черв. 2016 о 12:20
Does this mean that if I have an alteration skill of 100, I can open master locks?
kdodds 19 трав. 2016 о 5:35
Lock Overhaul, but it may be Nexus only.
Drakmyth  [автор] 19 трав. 2016 о 5:02
@Zet I do recall a bash mod existing, though I can't find it now either. The one I'm thinking of may have been for Oblivion or Fallout 3 though. Doing something like this for bash shouldn't be too difficult I wouldn't think, though I have neither the time nor interest to do it myself.
Luna Lagoon 13 груд. 2015 о 4:19
thanks bro!:steamhappy:
kdodds 18 верес. 2015 о 22:02
Elegantly simple and an amazing immersive for mages. Now, if only there were a bash mod...
N'waa 19 серп. 2015 о 1:43
have been looking for this exact thing for ages let the mage rule all!!! :D
cosmonaut 1 квіт. 2015 о 13:19
@zegrunens open the console and type "help knock" then it should come up with a list, find the one with (SPEL) near it or something like that then type "player.addspell XXXXXXXX" With the Xs being the code
PhoLinks 15 берез. 2015 о 15:25
what is the spawn code?
GrumpyWaldorf 11 листоп. 2014 о 21:34
Just what I wanted and for every reason you listed off. You have made my day. =D
Mad Prophet 1 серп. 2014 о 10:53
Two thumbs up bro
Misha 26 трав. 2014 о 13:34
This is a great idea. Do you think it's possible to do something like this for pure-melee characters as well? I remember there being a "bash doors in" mod on Nexus somewhere, btu I haven't been able to locate it.
Tay 11 квіт. 2014 о 10:48
Exactly what I was after. (Finally - Steam's search function is just abysmal.) Thanks!
MikeOxabigun 31 берез. 2014 о 0:33
Thank you, this was exactly what I was looking for.
Drakmyth  [автор] 20 січ. 2014 о 18:35
@trailofundead Yeah, the gates issue really annoys me. It has to do with the way I'm detecting if you're aiming at a locked object or not. Unfortunately, I haven't found a better way yet. As to it increasing your skill based on lock difficulty, that's not a bad idea. I'll take a look at that and might put it in the next version. Thanks!
trailofundead 20 січ. 2014 о 9:29
I'm playing the game now and finding the spell very useful. It fits in better with a mage character to use a spell for unlocking! It can be tricky with gates and some doors, but you have to find the 'spot' to unlock.
I noticed that higher level spells level your skills faster, but this is the same level spell for any level of lock I suppose. It would be good if it counted more towards progression if used on harder locks.
schlorp.com 16 січ. 2014 о 18:37
yeah i understand that, and it is cool that you brought that spell back, needless to say ill be using it, gotta be my mage/theif like self
Drakmyth  [автор] 16 січ. 2014 о 17:33
@GlacialFlow I agree. In fact, I find lock picking extremely easy. Perhaps this is slightly easier, but that is balanced by requiring higher Alteration levels (which isn't exactly easy to raise in the beginning of the game). Mostly it just bothered me that I could be the most powerful mage in all the realms, having felled demons and dragons with my elemental powers, but I couldn't get past a little box of metal without resorting to lockpicks.
schlorp.com 16 січ. 2014 о 16:36
this looks realy helpful and reminicent of oblivion, but, the lock picking isnt very hard............
AzraelMuad-Dib 23 жовт. 2013 о 19:42
Nice, just like the open lock spells from Oblivion, only in a single and scaling version. Even better. :)
trailofundead 10 жовт. 2013 о 10:10
Just got this, will try it next time I play. I thought it's crazy that a master wizard should have to have a good lockpicking skill! I'm glad you all seem to agree:)
Cheap Shot 17 серп. 2013 о 5:24
Lovely thanks!
Drakmyth  [автор] 9 серп. 2013 о 12:38
@darkdurza Yep, one of the known issues I'm afraid. If I can find a better way to detect doors (outside of putting a script on them, which would cause compatibility issues) I should be able to resolve this as well as the "door top" issue, but for now you'll have to keep a couple lockpicks for this scenario.
SnackJunkie 9 серп. 2013 о 11:09
It doesn't seem to work properly on cage doors. Always misses.
khazan99 12 лип. 2013 о 17:00
Very helpful when playing a 'classic' sort of Mage. I like the use of the Alteration skill as well; thanks for the mod.
Drakmyth  [автор] 9 черв. 2013 о 8:44
@saclips4702: I know Tolfdir at the College of Winterhold and Farengar at Dragonsreach both sell the tome, but I think your Alteration skill has to be above 25 before they will do so.
Shitbob Fullpants 9 черв. 2013 о 2:08
Where can you find places with 25 alteration spells i tried the College of Winterhold, but i can't even find where to buy tomes from The College Of Winterhold please help
Drakmyth  [автор] 26 трав. 2013 о 8:54
@The #'s Mason: Though I think you need an Alteration level of 25 before it appears in the shops.
Drakmyth  [автор] 26 трав. 2013 о 8:53
@The #'s Mason: You aren't just given the spell, you need to find the spell tome. I think you can find it as a random drop from enemy mages, but I know Tolfdir and Farengar sell it as well.
Only Human 26 трав. 2013 о 2:49
Hmm,thank you for the Info,I still think it needs more mana to cast, but ''Opens More Lock As You Level'' is nice,Im going to subscribe, thank you!
Goon 25 трав. 2013 о 21:53
I'm subscribing to the mod but I'm not getting the spell. What am I doing wrong?
Y.Fish 25 трав. 2013 о 17:37
I missed the unlocking spells from Oblivion, they were useful. Thanks!
Drakmyth  [автор] 25 трав. 2013 о 16:36
@Only Human: Not sure I agree. If it worked just like lockpicks, where it opened any chest all the time, I would definitely say it's overpowered. But because it scales to your Alteration skill (meaning you need an Alteration level of 25 to open Apprentice locks, 50 to open Adept locks, etc.) and there is no really good way to level Alteration in the early game, I think it balances quite nicely.

I could see an argument for increasing the mana cost. Right now a base cost is 150 mana, so it requires a character to put 5 levels into Magic in order to cast it. This spell is intended as a mage's alternative to lockpicking, so I wanted it to be available relatively early for a mage character, but require enough mana to discourage a non-mage character from picking it up. That said, the high Alteration requirement almost makes it not matter since non-mage characters aren't likely to use enough Alteration magic for the spell to unlock anything other than Novice locks.
Only Human 25 трав. 2013 о 14:59
Good spell but its too overpowered,if you turn it expert and hard to find then I and make a Greater Mana Cost,I would be glad to download and mention it on some forums.
bed time zzz 24 трав. 2013 о 9:06
Maybe a spell that redid the lock to not require a key.
bed time zzz 24 трав. 2013 о 9:05
You know what would be nice? A locksmith spell that relocked things to keep people from getting in... or out... if they had no lockpicks or knock spell. Locking something in a cage or out of your house could be useful.
ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ Wakko 23 трав. 2013 о 16:22
Cool i'll try it out
Malaficus Shaikan 23 трав. 2013 о 10:17
Thanks for returning my favorite oblivion spell :D
Near Gravity 22 трав. 2013 о 22:07
Nice. Will watch for them in the future. I did find a mod that is good as is, (just going on a brief glance over description here atm), called Restoration Addendum iirc. Looks really good and I'm testing it out over the next little while, time dependent on various factors of course. :)

Drakmyth  [автор] 22 трав. 2013 о 20:52
@Kelvin: After doing this mod, I have considered doing other spell mods because they are rather simple to do and, if done properly, are very unlikely to conflict with other mods. The trick, as you mentioned, is coming up with spells that don't already exist that would be useful and well-balanced. One thing I do know is that if I do make other spell mods, I will release each spell individually, rather than as a collection. That way you can pick and choose which spells you want, rather than being forced to have some spells just because you want one or two of the others.
Near Gravity 22 трав. 2013 о 19:55
Very cool spell. I do tend to agree with the sentiment regard lock quality, but the spell cost is significant enough to balance this I think. Also, in theory, the difficulty should be significantly offset-because it is a spell-regardless.

Wondering if you have considered doing other spells as well as I find I have yet to pick a spell mod for precisely the reason you have mentioned above: I simply don't like some of the spells offered.

In most cases, I find them either redundant, un-needed, or over-powered. Some are just distasteful in implementation and purpose.

Either way, very nice little mod. :)
mayingan 22 трав. 2013 о 10:06
Very useful!
Go hard like bananas 22 трав. 2013 о 8:32
@Drakmyth, I know where you're coming from, on all points d: At least we can be glad that this game at least has a few options, unlike others. Tried Metro: Last Light earlier and man was I let down ("Oh look, an open door.. oh, an invisible wall")
Drakmyth  [автор] 22 трав. 2013 о 5:11
@Luggruff: I usually play for the objectives and try to max out everything. My first character is always like that. But at some point it gets a little boring and repetitive so I'll start a new character and try the roleplaying route.

It's enjoyable, I just wish the game (this and others) were more flexible as far as that goes. My reputation of destroying anyone who looks at me funny never seems to preceed me, and that random guy I decide to deep fry just because I feel like it always turns out to be essential.
Go hard like bananas 21 трав. 2013 о 23:21
@Harboe: Never really saw it that way as I'm not a roleplayer myself. I play for the objectives and simply try to be awesome at everything.. why not if I can right? But then again, that said, that's only my logic and I can see that some people actually set their minds into the character they are playing even though it's not something I actively think about.
Go hard like bananas 21 трав. 2013 о 23:21
@Nainakai: Didn't know that (about oblivion, as I never played it, only Fallout 3), and also there is no trick to lockpicking, I wish there were.. the sounds you hear are a total scam, it's just sound effects to make it look cool or whatever. The only tryck is to try many places, only pressing the "turn" button extremely briefly to see if anything at all happens to the lock or the pin and also remembering exactly where you put the pin (if you exit the position changes). there are plenty of reference rust on the locks to remember where you left off if one break d:
@Drakmyth: I see, must have overlooked that part as it sounds familiar when you say it. And as Harboe here made me realise also, some people are just in it for more than the objective like I am.. d:
Drakmyth  [автор] 21 трав. 2013 о 0:25
@vinchenzojackal&soldier@bay: This spell isn't meant to replace lockpicking, it merely provides a magic-based alternative. It certainly isn't hard to lockpick as a mage, but from a roleplaying standpoint a true mage WOULDN'T pick a lock.

I thought about making a separate version of the spell for each level of lock, but outside of adding redundant entries to the magic menu (since the player would always use the highest level they had) it doesn't really add much as the player would still be able to grind their Alteration skill and buy the new spells at any point. Plus, Alteration isn't particularly quick to level, especially early in the game. If the spell just opened locks I agree it would be overpowered, but it doesn't. You have to level your Alteration in order to open more difficult locks, so it seems pretty fairly balanced to me.
