Coole Idee, selbst mit Kinect. Aber das Farbenspiel ist echt ... anstrengend für die Augen.

I wonder how crazy the beats would get with Crucia music playing

if i had a kinect, i would totally be buying this game once it went on sale, it brings the greatness of a dancing game to the scoring platform of something like guitar hero or rockband, looks like an excellent game
shadowfoxpika2 Dec 15, 2013 @ 1:04am
Looks like a great game! Shame I dont have a kimect but this might just be worth getting one. Only thing that gets me tho it seems a bit to "flash" the visuals are nice but the burst of light covering the whole screen all the time and when its a fast part flashing so fast is not only annoying in a way but could also be a health risk to some people who are effected but flashing lights. If there was a way to tone down effects a bit I would totally buy this. Like even if it was just a dull or darker form of the graphics already it would be great. Anywho good luck with getting it out there it looks great so far!

I don't care much for motion gaming or the kinect but this does look cool. I don't own a kinect and probably wouldn't buy one for this but I will give you guys an upvote in case others would like to play your game. Good luck
InDaViz  [author] Sep 1, 2013 @ 2:54pm
Dan, much appreciated! I was thinking, since the game is in playable alpha, we could package it up for people who have access to Kinect (eg. own or can borrow one) to download it for free. We'd only ask that they get Flight of Icarus and/or Space Manoeuvres mp3 from Amazon so they can play. Anyone who is interested, please let us know!
KDStudios (Dan) Sep 1, 2013 @ 12:49pm
You know, after seeing this game, I'm actually tempted to buy a Kinect just for it.
Reminds me of what the Eyetoy games should have been for the PS2. Never really gave any other camera games a chance since then and since I don't want or have an 360 or any intentions of getting an Xbone, I probably would never have got a Kinect.
This game has a lot of potential and looks very fun. Camera games done RIGHT.
Keep up the good work, have a Yes, Favourite and Follow from me :)
Good luck.

Thanks much! Unfortunately extracting the person's image is just too unreliable with regular webcams (and also the flat image they provide is a bit dull). But there's a new line of depth cams like Kinect coming out, one of them Senz3D from Intel and CreativeLabs which mounts on top of laptop screen/monitor, and I expect there will be a lot of PC software for it to justify the h/w purchase -- hopefully in less then a year and we'll definitely port the game to it. We're in this long term. PS. "BA DA BA BA BA" is a great way to put this song in ASCII. :-D

BA DA BA BA BA IM lovin this i wish this was webcam compatable it shount be hard to do that would it. youl porbly get more votes too.

Thank you! We'll do our best.
MattJBarton Aug 30, 2013 @ 12:14pm
Original and entertaining concept, fairly rare in greenlight. Good work. As long as it's bug-free and the look of the game is improved at it's release, this could really take off.

Ooh nice, can't wait :D
InDaViz  [author] Aug 18, 2013 @ 9:37am
Thanks Krissy! Some fun new features coming soon, will post a demo vid. Cheers!

Awesome, cheers!
Bird Jul 12, 2013 @ 2:54pm
Well, I guess i'll yes it anyway then :3 thanks for the explanation
InDaViz  [author] Jul 12, 2013 @ 12:35pm
* how to use it.
InDaViz  [author] Jul 12, 2013 @ 8:14am
... I've just posted another video with extracting hands only. Thanks for engaging in the discussion. I understand the sentiment, and I too hate how Kinect is used in most games (check out Angry Joe's review of Steel Battalion). But I think it's not the technology, just that people are falling for the wrong ideas of hot to use it, ie. "you are the controller."
InDaViz  [author] Jul 12, 2013 @ 8:04am
Hi Bird yes it's true but there is one major difference: eyetoy and webcams cannot extract the person ie. remove the background in a regular setting, so the wall/furniture/kitchen behind you is taken with you to the game, and it gives the blah feeling. Instead of seeing you in another world, you see you in your room with some graphics pasted over it. With Kinect when you look at the depth map of your image extracted (not the avatar-following-your-skeleton crap), it's intense. The early versions of Visikord used webcams and black backgrounds and even so it doesn't compare in sensation. Also webcam detection of your body edges is unreliable; with Kinect (ie. PrimeSense sensors, Kinect is not the only one) it's rock solid, as long as the sensor isn't looking at the open sky (eg. through a window).
Bird Jul 11, 2013 @ 3:58pm
yeah but this kind of reminds me of eyetoy games... and eyetoys were really webcams xD
BellinternetFTW Jul 9, 2013 @ 11:41am
i SORT of smashed my kinect opps
InDaViz  [author] Jul 8, 2013 @ 10:46am
@Bird -- no, webcams are passive receivers of light, and depth sensors (Kinect/PrimeSense sensors, time-of-flight sensors) are active senders of light pulses and measurers of bounced-back light. It's like the difference between a microphone and a sonar.
Bird Jul 7, 2013 @ 1:48pm
What happened to webcams? Can anyone remind game makers of webcams? I mean they work exactly the same.
jmerithew87 Jul 1, 2013 @ 10:27am
Upvoted because of originality, though I'll probably never get a Kinect
aljowen Jun 9, 2013 @ 5:20am
Ok thanks, looking forward to hear that because i only used the microsoft ones because they work well with teamspeak and i was hoping they would become the official standerd. But i guess if you cant legally develop for them then that may not happen i guess.
InDaViz  [author] Jun 8, 2013 @ 8:37pm
Hi aljowen, thank you for the post. Visikord uses OpenNI drivers. MS stack is geared towards skeleton tracking, providing only 320x240 depth resolution. OpenNI stack has inferior skeleton tracking, but we don't use (and don't believe in) skeleton tracking anyway, however the OpenNI stack gives you a full 640x480 depth map which looks much better while still providing object separation. Not to mention the fact that you can't legally offer commercial software for XBox-Kinect on PC built using the Microsoft stack. ;-) I think though there is a driver that connects the MS Kinect driver with the OpenNI stack, so in theory you could be able to use software like ours without uninstalling the drivers. I'll do some checking how it works and get back on that.
aljowen Jun 8, 2013 @ 8:30am
I do actually use kinect with my pc and it is my main microphone etc so it will be intresting to see this. It would be cool if you could impliment web cam support for other people. But i understand from using prime sense drivers etc for mapping gestures to controls in other games that this is far easier with kinect and their api's.

On that note, which kinect drivers are required for this (OpenNI,primesense,ms kinect). You can only have 1 driver installed at a time and it is a pain as its hard to thind things that run on microsofts official drivers (which arte what im using)

Thanks

We're finding that people tend to forgive the hardware once they find software that gives them a little bit of kick out of it. Thank you!
Gorith May 28, 2013 @ 1:24pm
if it didn't rely on such a fickle peice of hardware i would upvote it in a heartbeat.
InDaViz  [author] May 19, 2013 @ 6:28pm
We'll take a look at what we can do with a webcam. Thanks!
Vekter May 19, 2013 @ 5:34pm
I really want this but I don't have an Xbox so there's no way I'm getting a Kinnect for one indie game. Best of luck.
The Resonte! May 19, 2013 @ 11:14am
Make it so yo don't need kinect.
Add-ons suck.
Werewolf May 14, 2013 @ 4:01am
Well if it so good a could even buy kinect!
bluemime86 May 9, 2013 @ 7:05am
hum...need kinect?Unfortunately, I don't have one.The idea itself isnt bad but this game looks more like something you would find on an Xbox live store. And it needs to be better polished.
[KOR]suecream May 9, 2013 @ 6:50am
hum...need webcam?
♫TGC> The Gritty Coon May 8, 2013 @ 6:01pm
Would buy it if I had a kinect.
Unfortunately, I don't have one. Ow heck, still upvoted, I might just get one at some point later on.
Digital_Destruction May 8, 2013 @ 9:05am
The idea itself isnt bad but I think your targeting the wrong market nor do i think this is a polished enough product for steam. Try the xboxlive market but im guessing its allready published on it.
InDaViz  [author] May 7, 2013 @ 3:07pm
WMan22, this game is for you. Thank you! Stefneh and Amaru, thanks just as much since you don't have a Kinect or similar (yet, Asus will be building them in some of their laptops soon, so who knows). PS We're working on adding a set of control in the Z plane, in front of the player, like an on-the-fly configurable drumpad. Also the weapons won't be just lasers and lightnings etc., on the todo list is things like dragon head that opens jaws/spits fire as you move your hands through the triggers. Lots of options for expression.
[MM] WMan22 May 7, 2013 @ 1:30pm
I've got a soft spot for challenging music games, Stepmania, Rhythm Zone, and DJ Max Trilogy are some of my most played games these days. And i've got a kinect just sitting here that i only use for GMod so far. This will change that. Upvoted.
Stefneh May 6, 2013 @ 9:58am
cant play it, but ill upvote it
Amaru May 6, 2013 @ 12:28am
I would so love to get and play this XD but being i dont live in my own place :T but I still voted <_<

Not related to Visikord Challenge directly, but for those interested -- concept for a fast-and-precise FPS with Kinect is now posted as a discussion thread. There's some text there but the essence is these two pictures:
1. map this: http://visikord.com/images/steam/platform-kinect3.jpg
2. to this: http://visikord.com/images/steam/fps-screenshot-02.jpg
InDaViz  [author] May 5, 2013 @ 4:01pm
Thanks guys! @Ste I'll post soon some concept drawings how Kinect could be used in a FPS game "for real," without the whole you-are-the-controller business that has brought Kinect a bad rap in the PC gamer community.
Dr Whom PhD May 5, 2013 @ 2:09am
Im giving you guys a thunbs up cause this looks pretty cool...one problem though I dont own a kinect so in order to play your game Id have to buy one. Hopefully its worth it.
Ste May 5, 2013 @ 1:28am
InDaViz could you please do tutorials for professional game companies how to use the Kinnect properly :). I'm surprised you've got it under 100ms to be honest! I've only experience of C# and many other languages but never C++ so even more credit to you! I'll be watching this one, good luck!
Clooman May 4, 2013 @ 1:58pm
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and Greenlight this simply because it's so interesting.
