I just realized how much some of the characters look like they are from Oblivion... ._.

If this becomes a "buy once, keep forever" kinda game its a definate buy from me.
Virtrium  [author] Jun 8 @ 11:44am
The developers are working towards improving the graphics and overall quality. As part of the technical work happening right now, the devs will be releasing small texture packs over the summer and fall to provide improvements to character armor, weapons and equipment. Please see the Developer's Desk Summer 2015 for more information.

Saphire The Baby Dragon Jun 6 @ 11:31am
will istaria be free?
Sleepy Chipmunk Jun 5 @ 7:28pm
Oh wow, nostalgia. This is one of the few MMO's I've come back to more than once. In fact, there's been like...eh, 3 times I've came back? It'll be really cool if this comes out on Steam.
Dragon Protector Jun 4 @ 7:23pm

Dragon Protector Jun 4 @ 7:22pm

Virtrium  [author] Jun 4 @ 7:12pm
The developers are still discussing how to integrate Istaria best with Steam (and that includes pricing)
Dragon Protector Jun 4 @ 1:25pm
wish it was already out on steam
(FLoFF) InsaneChaosRealm™ Jun 3 @ 10:42am
I know the humans are free to play but to me the humans aren't interesting at all.
I would like to know if you put this on steam, will you make this pay once for all races or completely the "pay every month" kind of game.
Virtrium  [author] Jun 3 @ 10:06am
Istaria has never been a pay to win game. It's very important to the developers that Istaria have merit play, instead of buying items or double XP to advance. -Today- there's Free to Play humans. There's no restrictions on schools, levelling, access to areas of the world or quests - truly free to play. The developers are still discussing what additions can be made to Istaria to better fit into the Steam "world", but pay to win is not one of them. You can read the most recent Developer's Desk (see the Announcements tab) for where development is headed for the remainder of the year.
So, when will this come on steam? Will it become a buy once game? Still pay to win? I doubt f2p

The bipeds interest and challenge me much more than dragons. This is the only MMO game I've returned to more than twice. Multiclassing gives biped players flexibility, and meaningful choices (fortunately reversible). You can make choices that will put your character in a frustratingly gimped state. There are several paths out -- again, good choices to make, there isn't a single best way. This is the essence of a good game (versus a theme park ride MMO).

Thanks for the info guys, good to know.
Alisto May 19 @ 2:32pm
Wesley - dragon and biped gameplay is vastly different. You see very little biped stuff because bipeds have extensive multiclassing, which means much more time to get them 'up and running' than it does a dragon. That also means it's difficult to make a youtube video that gives information people watching would want in a short amount of time. Bipeds have somewhere around 28 adventure classes(schools) to choose from, whereas dragons only have one.

Furthermore, it really is different in-game. Looking at who is online right now - Order Shard - it's about an even split between bipeds and dragons playing.
Virtrium  [author] May 19 @ 1:19pm
While dragons are popular, there's quite a few other races around. Each race has an area of the world with architecture and content focused on their "style". Istaria is free to try for any race, and free to play as a human. It's a reasonable download, fast set-up and you don't need to enter a credit card or any other details to try it out.
Wesleypipes77 May 18 @ 8:44am
Ok, one important question for me. I've been considering checking this game out, it looks like a good old school MMORPG. However searching through youtube videos etc.. trying to get an idea what the game is like. I get the impression that even though there are many different races to choose from, everybody and their f#*king dog is playing a dragon!! Is it actually this bad in the game or is there more variety to the races people play, because if 99% of the game population is just a bunch of dragons, that's enough to turn me off personally.
Saphire The Baby Dragon May 9 @ 5:32am
Yay istaria on steam!
Fminesta Apr 13 @ 3:10am
when this game gonna released in steam
Virtrium  [author] Mar 13 @ 5:44pm
The developers have been hard at work putting together an update package since the release of City Under Siege. All the updates are just about ready, and that's when the team will sit down and sort out their schedule for the rest of the year.
Cokai Mar 13 @ 5:33pm
Please Developers give us a comment, any information somehow about the status of the game.
Machaeon Feb 6 @ 8:33am
You see, the thing about dragons is: at max level they are MUCH weaker than a decently leveled non-dragon. So by paying absolutely nothing and playing as a human, you have the capability of utterly thrashing the best dragon players out there. Also the main benefit of being a dragon is: you can fly. That's it. There are biped schools out there that give comparable damage to a dragon's most powerful attack. Dragons have ONE adventure school and THREE craft schools whereas non-dragons have TWENTY EIGHT adventure schools and NINETEEN craft schools - you actually lose out on flexibility as a dragon... so no loss as playing as a free human. All other races are aesthetic.

@Samuel Shank, the game doesn't have DLC, nor will probably ever have DLC. It's been running for years and doing pretty good without DLC.
Samuel Shrek (TPE) Dec 3, 2014 @ 8:34am
its finally greenlit, Will there be premium steam DLC For that avalible
Žalvaris Dec 1, 2014 @ 11:13am
Please support this game, pitch in a few dollars. This game has a small, but lovely community and it needs all the love it can get.
(FLoFF) InsaneChaosRealm™ Nov 8, 2014 @ 2:24pm
(Sorry for double post) Although I am all for this game and I especially love the dragon part as I think this is the ONLY game where you can play as a dragon in a multiplayer game but the reality is they've probably forgotten about this game and hopes for this returning to us is very slim.
(FLoFF) InsaneChaosRealm™ Nov 8, 2014 @ 2:20pm
I think we can pretty much scrap the idea of this being on steam, it's been quite a while now and when i say a while, i mean it. The makers of istaria will probably forget about this game and not even bother to put it on steam even if we vote yes on it. So don't go getting your hopes up guys because I highly doubt it will ever happen at least not for the next couple of years or more and even then the game will become HIGHLY out dated compared to the games of today and even more people would forget about it. The only solution would to completely remake the game with modern graphics, re-advertise and that would develop into a bigger community for the game, but other than that I highly doubt it. Sorry guys. Also, haters gonna hate so hating on my comment is useless as i'm just proving something.
CarlosRegueraDJ Nov 5, 2014 @ 5:14pm
Voted! it looks really cool!
Always the Mage Nov 2, 2014 @ 10:14am
Istaria is an old-school, challenging and strategic MMO. It has a lot of interesting features - a large, seamless world where you can buy and build on land, many unusual races like dragons, dryads, and satyrs, and an incredible assortment of classes you can combine as you choose (for all bipedial races) as well as a deep and complex crafting system.

You can play as a human for free - you'll have access to practically the entire game with no meaningful restrictions. Other races require a subscription to play, but with the exception of dragons (who have their own combat class and crafting classes) the difference is largely aesthetic.

The first time I entered Istaria as a dragon everything around me was like alive! I can't wait till it comes out for steam!!
Tarax00 Oct 8, 2014 @ 2:07pm
Ill definitly get this when and if it comes here :)
Ravemaster99 Sep 25, 2014 @ 6:12pm
I dabbled in Istaria once upon a time. Good stuff. Interesting, full of new concepts. Liked it.

How long till i can buy this on STEAM
Tyco Sep 12, 2014 @ 3:16am
@Jay this game has a monthly fee so you can play online with others.
xXJayty07Xx Sep 7, 2014 @ 11:29am
Looks absolotly amazing, im still questioning if its a free or payed geme but has a great consept and looks like i would be a good game.
Sorn Drakklo Sep 4, 2014 @ 7:12pm
I played this along time ago when it was new it is a wonderfull game. A bit dated on the grafics but the game play is sound. A very good crafting system. I would probly play it agin if the dragon was F2P but with many new games coming out like Archeage it would be hard to pull me back.
Bardrick Aug 18, 2014 @ 3:34pm
It's a great game, but it definitely needs more advertising.
I don't really like free to play games. In my honest opinion $10/month isn't alot for an MMO and humans are completely free to play.
nutmut Aug 12, 2014 @ 2:04pm
I think it should be f2p except charecter slots and the dragon race with a micro transition shop
Dragon Protector Aug 10, 2014 @ 6:54pm
this needs to be f2p cash shop like dragons prophet i really want to play this game and be a dragon :)
hentayschik Aug 10, 2014 @ 7:30am
good game
Maikerue Jul 23, 2014 @ 11:09pm
The graphics of the game are a litle outdated, but what really got me interested in the game was the choice to be a dragon. Once I realised that I had to pay to play for the dragon race, I lost all interest in the game. If you want more subsribers for the game, try getting rid of the subscribtion fee.
Samuel Shrek (TPE) Jul 21, 2014 @ 9:24am
looks more like morrowind mixed with wow, and still voted
LunSei Jul 13, 2014 @ 2:02pm
If this game did not have a subscription fee, I would play it because dragons are awesome. But I refuse to shed money every month for a game with old graphics and mediocre gameplay.

Make dragons a one-time purchase, and I would vote for the steam greenlight of this game.
MGaSSi Jul 11, 2014 @ 8:07pm
This game is similar to World of Warcraft
