I'd buy it if it had better graphics, however I'll vote for it because I want more dedicated, heartful, soulful programmers like you in the industry. I do buy an awful lot of games with bad graphics for their gameplay, but I think this game in particular would benefit from simple, beautiful, but modern graphics and bloom effects. Here's to seeing you get there.

Just saw the Giant Bomb quick look and this looks really neat. From art to music, it seems to have a really nice atmosphere for solving some interesting looking puzzles in. Nice stuff!

this looks pretty cool and fairly original so I voted for it, however I do think it needs a slight graphical over haul before being "steam quality". the game play fascinates me though.

I am upvoting your game, but you're going to have a hard time getting this game Greenlit. Many gamers will vote based on graphics and since your game has simple graphics, they will instantly vote no. Also, mentioning the word "Islamic" in the description--even though the game is not really religious in theme--will cause closed-minded people to immediately vote no.

The graphics are definately an impediment to getting greenlit, or even to getting higher slaes on other channels.

I think if you upgraded the graphics (A LOT) you would have a much more marketable game.

voting no because even though I like the concept and the sound the graphics (other than the glass patterns) are simply terrible.

Yah I can give excuses if you like. Although I will say I respect that as consumers there is no reason for you guys to care about them ;) I know there are games out there whose visuals get stronger development.

The blurring is indeed there to help you concentrate on the foreground/"gameplay layer"; doing so is really difficult otherwise. I put myself in a difficult position: Islamic stained glass has extremely prominent colours. Blurring does help! Maybe there are better solutions, but... yeah, budget guys! I will tell you that no playtester ever reported eye strain :)

By the way since I'm putting the game on Desura (hopefully tomorrow >>) for $4.99 I am hoping a demo won't be necessary. $4.99 is what it would cost here by the way. Also the game is meant to be played in one sitting; the format of "demo/full version" doesn't really suit a game like that.

@Inverse Square: I read the Wikipedia; on the song... of course, I knew I had ‘heard’ the tune, nice. But I definitely had no idea otherwise.

Have you contemplated doing a Demo for the Game?

And have you considered running the backgrounds through Photoshop or the like, and perhaps adjusting the width of the blurred black lines; making them sharper and thin, I just asked what?

I reason that many of these gamers have the brightness, contrast and gamma correction set for games that are rather dark, often a default game setting. And your backgrounds are bright but out-of-focus so to speak. I wonder if this is the trouble that spurs the commentary on graphics.

You see, while I typically set mine for color accuracy because I use Adobe stuff, yesterday I adjusted the setting for viewing Among the Sleep, a dark and atmospheric game.

Well upon my return to your Greenlight page I did notice a difficulty or distraction rather, while watching the screen captures role by. I can only reason that the gamers are freaking out about the background graphics because their eyes are finding it impossible to focus on them. I also notice the ‘aura’ that you have incorporated, most apparent in the 30sec. portion of the first video, which gives the ‘blurring’, movement.

And while you might explain that it is this way to bring out the foreground sprites and produce atmospheric depth; most gamers these days would seem to have burnt their eyes out, and rely on high contrast and sharp lines to be comfortable when staring at a cheap monitor for hour upon hours.

I’m afraid that another solution must be found to overcome this unfortunate first-impression.
