Still a brilliant puzzle and still deserves to be in my list of favourites. I’m pretty sure I did it by a different and more complicated method last time. I probably just over complicated it back then, but just to check: intended solution ?
Joric Oct 15, 2018 @ 10:06am
Passed, there are a lot of playthroughs already https://youtu.be/rUrtDD135a4 I guess this is intended.
Nobody No-One Oct 8, 2018 @ 9:58am
Nice. The step that quaternary got stuck on here is the same thing that stumped me for so long in C-Vertex. Thumbs up.
bullfrog Feb 23, 2018 @ 8:40am
Ah yes, that's it, thanks :)
toncica  [author] Feb 23, 2018 @ 7:01am
@bullfrog, apparently you have played C-Vertex. Very close indeed. :)
bullfrog Feb 23, 2018 @ 6:42am
Brilliant puzzle. I’m sure I’ve played something close to this before (but nor @camerson1313’s by the look of it), but it still took a while and I was stuck on one obvious move for some reason. Any road up; thumbs up and added to favourites.
da_adesso_tabjones2 Feb 12, 2016 @ 3:48pm
Good job! Very challenging for me, I needed 2 attempts to solve it. Than you!
God-Father Jan 12, 2016 @ 11:39pm
I finally did it, need to catch the correct direction of thought :) it is time to go to the original...
dire.fcs Nov 28, 2014 @ 7:33pm
Again very good work in portalling.
toncica  [author] Aug 23, 2014 @ 9:10pm
BTW, I think camerson ran out of storage space on his old account, he has a new account now. Here is where his new maps are: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198133133522/myworkshopfiles/?appid=620
toncica  [author] Aug 23, 2014 @ 9:05pm
Okay, I have adjusted the link in the description. Camerson deleted the old version(s) after he updated the map because it created a new map each time instead of updating the existing one.
quat Aug 23, 2014 @ 8:51pm
Original map is still up? It's under a new url for some reason http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=139591710
quat Aug 14, 2014 @ 9:00pm
Okay, I gave in and looked up the solution.

That's totally a dirty trick but I love it so much. A+ to you and camerson :)
toncica  [author] Aug 1, 2014 @ 7:37pm
Not sure what your current state is. In the intended solution the lift is only used once, and you already did that if have placed a portal in the exit room.
quat Aug 1, 2014 @ 7:02pm
But then the lift won't come down for me?
toncica  [author] Aug 1, 2014 @ 6:57pm
It's important that you shoot your portal on the level where the exit is to be able to jump down from there and use a floor portal to fling.
quat Aug 1, 2014 @ 6:47pm
Hint plz? I can leave a portal in the upper room while being in the bottom, but then both boxes are out of reach by 2 tiles :/
cyhborg Jul 26, 2014 @ 2:29am
Didn't feel cheap to me (not the first time I've come across something like this). Nicely done. You can actually grab the cube that is placed on the grating in front of the laser catcher by placing the other cube under the grating and jumping off the latter to reach the former , so you end up with an extra cube.
toncica  [author] Feb 24, 2014 @ 4:39am
Apparently camerson has deleted the old map I linked to, that's unfortunate since the discussion there is not available anymore and the link goes now nowhere. There was a part that felt really awkward in the original puzzle and I tried to make it less awkward, that's why I made this version. Glad you enjoyed most of it anyway. Making an actual puzzle with an elegant solution is what I'm aiming for. Perhaps try Perplexus if you want to judge the outcome of my attempts, I think that one turned out well.
MetaMagi Feb 22, 2014 @ 1:04pm
Finally solved this one. I sort of felt one part of the solution was a bit... cheap. You most likely know what I'm talking about. Other than that, I am seriously impressed. Seems this isn't your original map, so I don't know who's my new idol puzzle author, but anyhow, the map was good. Really good.
MetaMagi Feb 22, 2014 @ 12:47pm
I even thought that it was going to be one of those pointless, stupid puzzles, and I went through early part of it on autopilot, wondering why I even bother. Then, suddenly, I realized "Hey, why is it not apparent what to do next?". Wander around for a minute or so, then "wait a minute, is this an actual puzzle?!"
MetaMagi Feb 22, 2014 @ 12:46pm
I still haven't solved this one, but man oh man, this is good stuff. I didn't know anyone but Mevious did proper puzzle maps, I'm gonna solve this one and then I'll see how to subscribe to any new chambers you may ever make.
toncica  [author] Jan 27, 2014 @ 2:00am
Wow stormsend, that video causes motion sickness. You allowed youtube to 'fix' the shakyness to this great result. :P
The solution is perfect though, thanks for playing.
stormsend Jan 12, 2014 @ 1:33am
Great map. Very challenging. I love laser puzzles but you send my mind reeling sometimes. I really struggled with the ending and I hope I have the intended solution. Map looks good and is laid out perfectly. I saw no glitches or exploits. Thank you and keep em coming please.
toncica  [author] Oct 20, 2013 @ 4:52pm
Answer: To get back across the water when you're stranded on the exit side. If you never mess up it's not needed.
kimist108 Oct 20, 2013 @ 3:19pm
Compared yours to the original. Did not like all the extra surfaces in the original. Got a sore neck looking up in all of the nooks and crannies to see if there was something up there I was suppose to use. Question: What was the purpose of the portable surface on the ceiling in the exit room? Did not use it.
toncica  [author] Aug 28, 2013 @ 11:58pm
I agree, it's not a simple puzzle and the original map took me some time to complete. If you're interested take a look at the original map which is linked in the description and see if that would have been any easier to solve.
Akiva Aug 28, 2013 @ 5:17pm
Not really, but I wasn't sure mostly because I found a seemingly "sound" solution to Ascend shortly before coming to this map, and it turned out to be incorrect (prompting the author to make an update). No need to worry.

P.S. This map is HARD. The only reason I was able to solve it was because I came back to it several times over the period of a little over a day (obviously not continuously, though. That would be stupid.) I need to get better at finding "aha" moments. (Although this one needed two, so hopefully I can be forgiven.)
toncica  [author] Aug 28, 2013 @ 3:18pm
It's the correct solution :)
Was there anything that made you think it might not be?
Akiva Aug 28, 2013 @ 3:11pm
Here's my solution: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/109183212/Simple_Vertex.dem If it's not the correct solution, don't tell me what the solution is; I want to figure it out by myslef.
toncica  [author] Jun 8, 2013 @ 11:39pm
Thanks, perfect. :)
toncica  [author] Jun 8, 2013 @ 8:31pm
I wouldn't mind to see a demo, there were surprisingly many unintended solutions popping up. The title doesn't mean the puzzle is simple, it's supposed to be simple compared to the original "Vertex" by camerson1313, with less elements and less steps.
Prototype Jun 7, 2013 @ 2:29am
I finally finished it :) I believe I solved the intended way (didn't use any glitches or tricks) I can record a demo if you want. Great puzzle with a very clever solution but I wouldn't call it simple.
toncica  [author] Jun 2, 2013 @ 6:56pm
Fixed some exploits.
toncica  [author] May 20, 2013 @ 10:07am
Yes, that wasn't intended. Somehow I thought that wouldn't occur anymore.
MeatBag May 20, 2013 @ 8:01am
I solved it by blocking lift with cube :) I think it's wrong solution. Or not?)
toncica  [author] May 2, 2013 @ 2:05pm
Weird, I think I have seen such an effect before but here it's quite a distance and I couldn't replicate that behavior. Anyway, that's certainly not intended, that would be craaaazy. :)
Hazelton May 2, 2013 @ 1:53pm
Seems that way. A cube balanced all the way out on the edge got unbalanced if a portal was placed underneath it, unless hit by a laser coming through that portal.
toncica  [author] May 2, 2013 @ 1:43pm
I don't understand. Did the portal had some kind of gravity effect on the cube and made it fall?
Hazelton May 2, 2013 @ 7:53am
I love lasers. This was a real challenge, but I managed it. Getting a cube back after planting a portal in the exit room was a problem, though. I'm not sure I found the intended solution there, it didn't seem like your style. I balanced a cube as far out on the ledge of the starting platform as possible, then made it fall by placing a portal underneath.
Singh Apr 27, 2013 @ 5:20pm
difficult map. You should make a video walkthrough for it. I'm going to plead no contest to it and try again later.

Got the two cubes and have a feeling i'll need to use them with the laser to go through the glass maybe instead of using the walls or something.

Anyway feel free to comment and rate my latest Major Lazer - Will Melt Your Brain.

Argh, you're tearing me apart! Alright, I fixed that exploit.
Innocentive Apr 26, 2013 @ 3:23pm
Yes, you did a very good job stripping Vertex down to its core puzzle. Thumbs up from me! I like the clear look of your map even though it might have a little exploit...
Jotta Apr 25, 2013 @ 7:02am
sehr gute kammer, hat spaß gemacht!
toncica  [author] Apr 18, 2013 @ 2:50pm
Myr, yes that is an obvious flaw you pointed out but not much time and work went into this map as it is not my puzzle which is stated in the description. If you like to have a run on an original puzzle of mine and find flaws or give feedback please try Prison Break 2013 or Ex-Cube , those are my latest original puzzles. If your way is bunny hopping or excursion funnel glitch then you don't have to spend the time on it. While I sometimes consider preventing bunny hopping it is not a priority if makes the design worse. About exfu glitch I don't care at all.
m3g4t0nerr Apr 17, 2013 @ 12:24pm
and now that i look i see that u have credited him.
Also it's a good way to come up with an optimized chamber.
toncica  [author] Apr 17, 2013 @ 11:29am
Some people like to modify other puzzles, even Mevious has made his own editions of other puzzles. To me it is an exercise to see if I can come up with other ways to make the puzzle work or enhance the design. It is foremost a learning experience. The original author should of course always be credited.
m3g4t0nerr Apr 17, 2013 @ 11:11am
why copy someones puzzle?
