When I first saw this on Kickstarter, I was an immediate backer. This earned me an invite to play the pre alpha version and get all the updates. So far the game is meeting my expectation and I can't wait to see it finished.

@RanAnxiang/@Sandwich: That's the goal; to create that strategy game that no one else seemed up to making! Frustrated with getting so close just to keep playing different tactics games (fun, but not what I wanted), When I got the opportunity and built up a solid base, I launched this project. You guys got it spot on, it's an economic wargame with PR, backroom deals, backstabbing internal affairs...

I'm considering a "latestarter" where I open the game sales up again for a window... we're not really pretty enough for a public launch yet, but people really want to buy in. Hit up the facebook page or sign on the newsletter at the website to find out when it's available!

I've wanted a game like this for ages! I remember actually writing down ideas and planning stuff for a game like this. Not just fighting over companies, but the other companies talent scouts, the media and inter departmental wars over trivial issues. So yeah, this looks so cool!

This looks like the game I never knew I always wanted. Personally, I'm nostalgic for the charm of mid 90s style games that have been cropping up recently. Drop down menues, multiple interfaces, a charming and tone setting--but not necessarily visually distracting--background. It's like an 'economic wargame' only your map is the city and your 'troups' are accountants, politicians, and shady fixers.

At the moment, the game is still getting it's basic systems developed. Plotting, spying, scouting, assassinating, stealing, kidnapping, bribing, backstabbing, dubauchery in some cases, addiction, obsession, depression, infiltration, detonations, incarcerations, seductions, constructions, productions, bought polititions, and public opinions.

So, as a person who actually worked as a video game tester on some Triple A flagship titles, I can tell you this. UI and background graphics looking pretty is about 10-14 months away from being the primary objective, because if Sparkbolt were to put resources into it now, he'd have to change it all again by the time the game is released. With the Indy budget he has, I'm sure he's not looking to waste a penny of the Kickstarter money.

I love the idea, but from what I've seen it needs graphical and interface improvement. I give a thumbs up for the concept I hope the final product will have a much better look to it.

The plan is to have a 3D cityscape (like the one pictured), but there's a lot to build before getting into something that complex with no gameplay.

The font has since been changed for the body of most menus, and the execution is going to be slow this early as lots of base systems are still being built up! It's not like the game is already done and I'm just adding things on top, I'm still in the process of building up the whole thing; it's gonna take some time.

As for the trailer, it wasn't that kind of deal. the funds were for a trailer alone, and we were lucky enough to make a Net Gain trailer with them.

This looks amazing, got my vote and I can't wait to buy it. No need to pretty the graphics up I love the look and feel of it - But then I am a Dwarf Fortress fan and still play text-adventure games, so my my thoughts on graphics are probably not the best to go buy :) Any way keep up the great work!

Net Gain is fiercely amoral, leaving the weight of that on the player's conscience. it does not label your actions as good or bad, but merely plays out the real consequences of those actions. You will be able to play a game just as you describe once you gain enough influence in a corporation to steer them to choices you think are moral and ethical. There's no arbitrary benefit for being a "good guy", so aside from the expected benefits (higher loyalty, happier bitizens, less fines and sanctions...) it can be quite a bit harder.
There is law (enforced by a Corporate Court and used to keep at least some level of peace and order) and getting caught can lead to crippling sanctions. Police and army are there, but summed up with CorpSec and PMCs protecting individual areas, and the larger federal systems and Interpol-like organizations watching out for the global good.
You can either play nice, or find how far you can skirt those systems to your own benefit!

So give me a game mode like Net gain: Corporate crackdown and I would happily dismantle the terrorist corporations and send them all to jail. It would be a hard mode game because as a goverment agency you are lacking in funds the only positive this game mode could have is the goal to change the corporate system/society.
So you get a lot of bitizens who have an axe to grind and are extreme motivated (loyal) to change the system. The downside of this game mode would be that when you lose an opperative the loyality penalty should be servere. And recless losing an operative should be severe penilized. And because you are targeting the corporations you need to be carefull not to become the ultimate target so you need to be stealty.

No the problem of this game world is that there is no law,no police no army no loyality only profit =Your net gain. Humans appear in this game only as means to reach your goal in this game world. And you protect them only because of the profit they generate not for the simple fact that they are human. And yes even if you hunt the terrorists the fact remains that there is no difference between you=(player) and the terrorist. Your goals, your actions are all the same and there is no difference only proffit.

The user interface is literally pre-alpha. The end result will most certainly look a lot better, but it would be a huge waste of resources to make an interfect look pretty _before_ you chop it up, rearrange it, take parts off, sew parts on, and then jolt it with lightning to bring it to life. Prettying things up is the last thing one does with a User Interface, once the gameplay has been finalized.
