Hello everyone, Yacht Club Games is extremely proud to announce that Shovel Knight will begin his adventure on June 26th. I would post a larger announcement, but let's just transition to the Steam store page and community hub soon instead!

Apologies for this. Once we chose to delay our date (but were unsure when it was delayed to) it was difficult to revise this information properly. Some websites won't update without a new date to commit to, etc.

It's near impossible to find when this'll be released. The devs website, this page, the latest trailer, kickstarter and the game site all have different release dates that are all past. Hopefully I'll remember to check back at some point and see it's been released because GOD IT LOOKS SO GOOD.

Yes, haha! We've been in contact with Gaijin Goombah since around the Kickstarter days. Loved what he did with the Shovel video, it was a pleasant surprise to see that pop up! Especially to help shine some light on one of the most versatile weapon choices of all time! The multifunction folded spade is a candidate for new main weapon in Shovel Knight X!

Hey, Yacht Club! Can't wait for Shovel Knight! So, have you guys ever heard of Gaijin Goombah? He's a youtuber who explains the culture in gaming, and he actually did a quick video on Shovel Knight and how his use of the shovel as a weapon is actually accurate in real-life culture; Shovel Knight may not be as ridiculous as he seems! Never say never! We're going to focus on stretch goal campaigns first, but if we find a good groove for it and if everyone gets a kick out of the alternate Knight campaigns, then we may very well keep the fun going!

We don't mean to pin the state of the game's release on any one service or platform. As the development team, we're ultimately responsible for where we're at. It was our decision to delay the game based on our team's personal level of quality! Now that the game is all but out, we're working with everyone to make sure all is lined up for release. We hope everyone will be able to enjoy Shovel Knight as a complete, playable from start-to-finish, game. As a developer, I'm happy to see that there are services and players interested in both sides of the game spectrum -- Early Access and the traditional all-in-one release.

how does The Forest and the Stomping ground get to come out and not shovel knight? those two games are broken as shit and i dont see how they are even early access material but we cant have shovel knight, i would pay $20 for shovel knight half finished. from what i seen your game is almost 100% complete, but the foest is maybe 5% finished and broken and steam put it out...... all i wanna do is just be a knight and shovel things.

Hello everyone! I have...no news to report! We're not much for sitting idle though,as we're using this time to get more testing done on the PC side while delving in to the Mac/Linux versions as well.


Yes, in addition to us lining up the release date so we're ready. and putting together finishing touches on the store and Steam related content (Trading Cards, Badges, etc)

We'll also be doing some casual streaming on the regular this month (in honor of Mega May). You can always catch us there if you want to hit us up with any particular questions. I know the feeling that the 99.9% done mark may just as well be the 0% mark at this point. Hopefully we can all get through it together!

On Sunday night/Monday morning we finished testing a release candidate that everyone on the team is happy with! Inly took a few hundred playthroughs. This is great news, because it means that we can now focus all of our energy toward getting the game prepped for release (as opposed to just when the next build was generating).


For sure. We can get a bit obsessive when it comes to iterating, but its just as important to know when to turn that spigot off! One idea can quickly lead to another.

Thank you (and everyone else!) for working with us on this one too and maintaining interest in the project. For our style of development we focus first on working through a complete, start to finish game. This was doubly important for us this time as an NES style has certain expectations for us in terms of completeness/quality. It would have been weird if we just patched in Stage 1-2 one day.

Alright, that's fair enough, I just wouldn't want to see this game fall into the same pitfall as those other games. :) I'm glad your coming out soon! Yet do remember. Even though games are best made slowly and take a long time to do right, there is always a time to be finished. You can't polish a game forever. Not that i'm saying that your taking forever or overpolishing it. :D
