Neolithic-you're telling me! With the exception of the last three days, (I've been taking a mini-break and fighting off one serious illness), I've been crunching to get things set up for release. I've been really agonizing over whether or not I'll need to delay the steam release by about 2-3 weeks...It'll be depressing to miss that 'Thief' release date, but a couple of weeks is better than pushing the game too early. It's seeming like the prudent way to go to give folks the best experience I can.

ALSO: If you are capped at 60 you might have to unlock that in the ini files.

In config>UDKEngine.ini change all instances of bSmoothFrameRate to False and change the MinSmoothedFrameRate and MaxSmoothedFrameRate to 0 . That should unlock framerate completely. If you change it to True/144/146 than that should be good for a 144mhz monitor, True/60/62 for a 60hz monitor, and so forth. Those are UDK/UE3 base settings that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to properly expose in a menu, but at least I can help people navigate them.

Can we have the option to turn off things like motion blur? Motion blur bottlenecks my framerate and adds little to my experience.

hm... that is indeed a weird one, Robertsolution. Can you tell me what OS you're using? Also, have you run other UE3/UDK game on it in the past? (Borderlands, Antichamber, Bioshock, Spec Ops, etc.)?

Hey Joe, Nice game you got here. I've seen some videos and I like what I've seen so far. I purchased it on IGS a while back, and now that I've gotten the chance to play it, I tried booting it up... It does it's thing for a few seconds before coming back with an error, "Failed to find Eula; aborting install." I've done some research and found out that it's not likely your fault, but more so UDK's fault. If you've encountered this error and/or know how to fix it, it would be much appreciated.

While I'd love to have a linux build (and my linux pals give me a lot of flak for not having one) unfortunately I lack both the requisite skill and technology to make that happen: Unreal doesn't allow for Linux depots in its UDK toolsuite, and even if I had native UE3 code access I don't think I'd be skilled enough of a developer to make a functional linux build. Sorry Automatic, I wish I had a better answer for you.. :-(

Zakhep - You mean like a roguelegacy castle type thing? It's a good idea, but I probably wont have time, sadly. Perhaps if I do well enough to make a sequel...

2x>u - thanks. Ive been meaning to do a new gameplay trailer for about 5 months now. The vinesauce interview or one of the many letsplays should give you a taste of the game till I have time to make a new trailer. :-)

Fletcher - i'd love that, but believe it or not that seems to be one of the trickier things to change in UDK-there's very little documentation and without native (sourcecode) access to the unreal code, I'm not even sure it's possible...That'd be pretty bizarre if its truly the case, so I'll keep researching/asking around.

If you want to see a sampling of the game and hear an interiew with the creator: go to Twitch and search vinesauce. A guy named Vinny streamed the game while talking to the founder of Terrible Posture Games.

The music reminds me of doom, the gameplay reminds me of descent 2, and the gun and graphics remind me of unreal tournament. I think I played too many games. I would definitely give it a try, but I feel that the video did not do its justice. It does look like it brings new things to the fps table and for that I am more than willing to try it, but I am unsure from the footage whether I would like it or not. Either way, it looks like someone put a lot of work into it and i would be more than willing to give the developers some kudos for that.

Update on the game; I must say I'm really enjoying the game so far. I've put about 10 hours into it and really excited about the new build, can't wait to download it. The amount of variatey that there is in the game atm is astounding, I'm planning to be a games designer and so am doing a course and my fellow gamers said that this game is great and loved it. Keep up the astounding progress, I honestly can't wait to see how it goes.

This game is worth every penny and the developer is great. Also, I can attest that IGS newsletter works well; I get emails through there from devs all the time for updates etc.

@Tender Loving Asian Yeah I realize rougelikes are all about starting with nothing. I like progression, the feeling of accomplishing something after putting time into a game. So yeah, this is probably not the game for me but I'm still happy to support a struggling developer with terrible posture.

I'll be trying out Indiegamestand's newsletter thing to send out emails when there are new builds and/or steam integration..but I've never used it before, so I can't vouch for how well that part of IGS works.

Everything else on the IGS site has been absolutely fantastic to work with though, so I don't predict any problems. STILL, if you want to be SURE you get the email, then sign up for the mailing list on the right sidebar of And thanks for the pre-order!

Looks cool, and the graphics look refreshing - a lot of "blocky" games similar to this have come out (nothing wrong with that, but it feels oversaturated).

@Jackaho but that's the beauty of it all, starting fresh without levelups, badges etc makes it feel like you're playing a new level and that's why it's designed that way. If you kept your levelups, mods and badges then it wouldn't be a rogue-ish style game anymore but would play out more like an RPG game. Not to mention it would mean that the levels would generally be a lot easier and that would be no fun.

I just purchased this recently and I like it except for the fact that I lose everything I gained after I die. Personally, I'd like it a lot better if we could at least keep the levelups and the mods and badges we collected along the way. It feels like I accomplish nothing every time I start over.
