When Vampires Attack

You can revive them. Look up their refID on uesp.net and use the console command:
recycle <insertRefIDhere> without the <>.

Thank you! My current character can't shop at whiterun because all but two of the outdoor shopkeeps are dead from vampire attacks. Dumb things even killed BOTH of the shopkeeps at the smithy! Happy now to know this will not happen with future characters.
Cynical Sadist Apr 6 @ 2:29pm
I found a glitch that possibly is linked to this mod. Everytime I go to winterhold for the first time and the vampires attack, the woman who lets you into the college will not return to the spot or even let me through due to a bugged script. I'd appreciate if I can get this verified and fixed if this is the issue.
Sisse95 Mar 28 @ 6:34am
No, I have Legendary edition, so I am sure that I have Dawnguard installed.
Gamer Mar 14 @ 5:13pm
I was just looking for something like this as most of Whiteruns Merchants just died in my first vampire attack .Thankfully i have a save just before it .Thanks for the Mod .
Jo_Blow Mar 12 @ 10:22pm
I like this mod...helps keep alive those who are just there, friendly face ....etc, I lol, when they attack or going to attack too...how they all run into the inn, then stand, sit down, talk ...drink eat ..untill they feel it safe to come out ..its works out good ...most times ..or ...maybe a guard or a someone not quick eought to get away ...thanks and I try out the dragon one too soon..:) good work ...tysm :)
GoverningLaw Mar 9 @ 12:35pm
Excellent work. Thanks!
Arthmoor  [author] Mar 9 @ 11:49am
If it's shutting down the game like that you don't have Dawnguard installed, which this was built for.
Sisse95 Mar 9 @ 1:02am
To bad it shuts down the game before I even get started, the game closes when the loading screen with the empire logo is there :(
P0RTALer Mar 2 @ 9:32am
has a value what language is the game?
barmyness Feb 20 @ 3:09am
useful same for run for your lives
agentx13 Feb 8 @ 2:26pm
Great Mod!!
KyuRizu Feb 5 @ 10:35am
After long time i figured out why this mod was not working for me!
I using USKP and BOSS set the loade order to:
Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp
Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp
Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp

Change the load order manuell to this, after starting BOSS:
Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp
Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp
Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp

Now Run for your lifes and When vampires attack works again perfect!

Hope this helps!

Savior mod!
[GG]The Doctor Goat[Zeus] Jan 31 @ 10:07pm
Thank you for this mod!
Toblerone Jan 31 @ 5:39pm
I came across an error where everyone ran to the inn, and won't leave. I tried waiting until daytime, and then 24 hrs. But they still were stuck in the inn.
LadySky89 Jan 27 @ 12:20pm
Yeah I understand.. another gap in the Skyrim's mechanics..
Arthmoor  [author] Jan 27 @ 12:17pm
Yes, I realize that. The line is a joke. The game doesn't provide a mechanism to make animals do that easily at the same time you're herding NPCs into the inns or their homes.
LadySky89 Jan 27 @ 6:19am
"Farm animals will not run either, because they're stupid. That includes your horse."

I don't agree too much with this... Depends the animal really. An horse would never hold in place if it sees a menacing and hungry hound going toward him... Right now, due to the bad AI, horses just try to defend themselves, but in the real life, they run away if the menace is considered too big for them. Infact, the horse is one of the most frightening animals.
galumn Jan 26 @ 3:25am
I don't know whether this is the only cause that make NPCs stuck inside houses.

But I've noticed that NPCs will stuck when I fast travel away, right before vampires are about to attack. If I got rid of all vampires and their minions before I travel away, NPCs will resume their normal activities.
Matthias The Wanderer Jan 25 @ 5:40pm
Alright, let me know when the shop problem is fixed. Every time this activates, they won't recognize when the attack is over, and they stay holed up in their shops for ages. Until this problem is addressed, I can't keep your mods active.
B.O.S Jan 24 @ 5:27pm
This is smart. I love it, you save my skyrim citizen.
Matthias The Wanderer Jan 23 @ 4:50pm
Okay, all of the shops are now permanently closed, is there a fix for this? I really don't want to lose this save file.
RadMystical Jan 19 @ 3:56am
Same with wolfenstein :p
Dafydd Jan 16 @ 1:15am
Good mod. But the NPCs get stuck inside houses/inns whenever the "Traveller" (vampire) appears.
Pixiecrap Jan 11 @ 7:07pm
Same issue as Wolfstein and Spontaneite. Gonna have to uninstall and maybe reinstall after that
Spontaneite Jan 11 @ 6:52am
I concur with Wolfstein. Exact same thing happing. Now half the shops in the city are closed and the khajiit aren't travelling and really it's quite inconvenient. You mention in your description that this is a known issue - have you heard of anything fixing it? Will I be able to wait it out?
Wolfstein Jan 4 @ 1:43am
my npcs in whiterun ran from a vampire ride and now they r idling inside the inn, even the khajits r inside and none of them r doing any efforts to go out work again =/
Lead Overdose Jan 3 @ 2:52pm
Thanks! First city I came to walked into town and the general goods seller died instantly from a vampire. Had to wait ten days to sell aynthing there again. On the plus side I looted his shop with no bounty added.
Eshin Jan 2 @ 1:36pm
Really love this mod! so noce not having to worry about fools playing heroes just die annoyingly.
rusty8penguins Jan 1 @ 8:32pm
Does it matter which order the two mods are loaded?
Narylena Dec 30, 2013 @ 7:35am
I'm really liking this mod. I also have Run for your Lives installed and both have been running fine for me so far. It didn't at first though. I had to change the order it loads to get them both working, but it does work...for me at least.
JK Nails Dec 29, 2013 @ 7:51pm
Nevermind. It occurred in Whiterun and it happened because there were some Death Hounds outside the city walls at the stable right outside the city. My apologies.
JK Nails Dec 29, 2013 @ 7:44pm
An attack happened and everyone ran inside like they're supposed too. However, they are not coming back out. Why is this?
Da reel bon Dec 28, 2013 @ 10:59pm
I think people (like that bitch in the market who's rude to you) should stand and fight becasue they have armor and whatnot.
Baron Von DickButt III Esq. Dec 23, 2013 @ 10:13pm
Wtf!! Sidgir just got owned by some death hounds. why didnt she run like everyone else?
Warsun99 Dec 15, 2013 @ 10:55pm
OK i now know who the arthor is.Because i was not paying attention. But see the Run for your lives mod post when you get the chance.
Arthmoor  [author] Dec 15, 2013 @ 10:43pm
What you describe is not possible for this mod to have caused. This mod edits trigger events for vampire attacks and only runs when one is in progress. If this is not the case, then nothing at all happens and the mod just sits around waiting.
Warsun99 Dec 15, 2013 @ 10:23pm
I had to choose one.
Warsun99 Dec 15, 2013 @ 10:22pm
Sorry for the late response but i ran this test as well. The game works fine for quite some time. Then Followers stop responding all together. It does happen.I restarted.uninstalled.I though it was many different mods.I ran through all of them.It turns out they are not compatible at some point. Some files may be conflicting. But NPC stop.An at one point my character could not move.Completely frozen.I systematically (hope thats a word) removed each mod to find the issue. It was a tie between both.
Arthmoor  [author] Dec 15, 2013 @ 10:18pm
Except, you know, for how it doesn't since, you know, I DID test it and use both mods in my game. They are both entirely compatible with one another.
Warsun99 Dec 15, 2013 @ 9:22pm
To creator.Test this mod with Run for your Lives.I think that addresses whats going wrong with your mod.
Slank Dec 12, 2013 @ 6:16am
why does this make grelod the kind essential?
artboi_6046 Dec 11, 2013 @ 11:07am
very handy
Playtheist Dec 5, 2013 @ 8:02am
Love this, and it works fine for me with 240+ mods installed. A minor bug/issue, however: If you're in Whiterun during a vampire "alert" (NPCs going inside for several hours) AND you've activated the main quest line in Whiterun ("Dragon Rising" I think) Irileth the Jarl's housecarl leads her team back to the palace instead of out to fight the dragon. Probably doesn't break the quest, but it is confusing. I was lucky and happened to be standing at the gate when she ran past to go do her job after the alert ended. So I'm thinking, maybe adding Irileth to guards faction could fix it?
Würfelstier Dec 4, 2013 @ 8:36am
Unfortunenatly it doesn't work for me either. :-/
The townsfolk is still running into their death!
Dr Mulligan Nov 28, 2013 @ 12:59am
This was working for me but after a few more mods (20 or so) it is no lnger working for me. Alvor of Riverwood, Amren of Whitrun both fell before the waves vampire attacks. There were others. Gone but not forgotten, bros.
DarthWound Nov 27, 2013 @ 3:53pm
Hi, as I just bought Dawnguard, I would like to know if this mod is working, as I read that there were some issues... I'm asking just to be sure ^^ Same question about Run For Your Lives.

Another question : I will probably translate it in french (for myself only, except if you allow me to share the translation), so is it better to download the files manually from Nexus, translate them, and then add them to my game, or can I subscribe here and add them to the game, translate them after, removing your files, and continue with mine ? I mean, is it a bad thing if I install the english files, remove them, and install the french ones ?

Thanks for answering :) and thanks for your helpful mods !

PS : I hope that what I wrote is understandable, I'm a bit tired ^^
Mario Almada ||Pistolero Culero Nov 20, 2013 @ 10:48am
if people want to die killing vampires thats fine by me. idc if vampires kill the citizens
[CRFX] Juncboks Nov 16, 2013 @ 3:01pm
Looks likek this mod and the one for dragon attacks have both been fixe up recently. Woot! Talk about a god-send; these are an answer to one of my own annoyances as well and I'm glad someone who shared that feeling knew how to deal with it. THANK YOU
