I did it so I didn't have to use your solution. I threw the box from the second room into the first so that it would line on the lazer and in line with the 3rd rooms lazer receiver. I know that isn't the correct solution but it worked, on the first try too. Pretty simple after that.

It took me for ever to figure this one out. So, I let enough time go by that I'd forgotten the solution and played it again. Here's the video.

Short and sweet, clean and logical. On my first run through I aimed the laser through the cube while holding it from the other side of the fizzler, lol. A move that is probably never needed but interesting that it's possible. I'm sure many beginner portal players are using this technique before they figure out that crouching makes pre-aiming a reflector cube much much easier.

Great map. That took some thinking.
jam.lab1 16. Aug. 2015 um 16:37 Uhr
Very, very clever. Really had to think on this one. Good job.

Continued...

Once I realized this, I finally found out the answer to my question: how do I get both the laser cube and the laser outside of the usual solving area and set it up so I could point the laser to the catcher? Once I found out the answer to that, the solution was quite satisfying, Thanks once again for a great map! :D
zigzagtenniscoe 12. Aug. 2015 um 13:04 Uhr
Neat map! At first I didn't get the concept so I had to leave it till the next day, but then I realized that you had to do the puzzle once with the laser cube, than do the puzzle again with the laser cube in the other room outside of the usual solving area, and you had to shoot hte laser through the glass to get it to the cube to the catcher. Continued in my next post.

Great test

Very, very good map. When it comes to test elements, sometimes less is more. This is a great example of that philosophy.

Please try, rate & comment on at least one of my tests; reciprocation is appreciation:

I am not one for fizzler-laser puzzles but this one was one of the better, less annoying, but still more challenging ones. Nice!

It looks so simple, yet it was very challenging.

I just published a level that also requires out of the box thinking.
Mathey2009 22. Juli 2013 um 19:36 Uhr

I thought it would take me more time (as I'm really bad at this kind of laser/fizzler lock puzzles) but in fact I solved it not so hardly ^^ Good work anyway ;)
Cave Johnson 4. Juli 2013 um 17:07 Uhr
This one really made me think

Tony Kanoli 20. Apr. 2013 um 15:42 Uhr
Brilliant puzzle, one of my favorites. Simple and challenging.

Hints for those who are stuck. Enough to help you without giving it away.

1- The reflector cube never needs to stay in the part of room it spawns in. You never want it in between two fizzlers. You should move it to other parts of the room.

2- In the laser-beam room, there is a reason why there are TWO portal surfaces next to each other. You will need to use both of them to solve the puzzle correctly.

Hard, yet easy once you figure out what to do. Very well thought of... and yes you have to think outside the box.
Fluppy 28. Dez. 2012 um 2:14 Uhr
Okay, I think this is one of the best puzzles ever made, because it is so simple and it fits nicely into the layout. Good job!

Great puzzle! Hard but easy!
Azorae  [Autor] 14. Dez. 2012 um 22:13 Uhr
Ha, yeah AD, almost all of my maps have goo pits and although I try to design them in such a way that it's difficult to fall into them or get stuck above them with no means of escape, I'd still prefer to have them as normal pits. Perhaps I'll go through and look at some of my old maps and see which goo pits can be removed (I actually recently removed the only goo pit from Lasers and Light Bridges)
AgentFire 14. Dez. 2012 um 6:14 Uhr
Solved in about 5 minutes, but i liked it extremely.
AD_79 13. Dez. 2012 um 19:34 Uhr
Oh, this chamber has no goo in it at all. Hmm... that means cake for you!
Ale 12. Dez. 2012 um 15:04 Uhr
Funny and well designed. Thanks!

Make sure the "Subscibed" box shows a check mark and restart the game. It should appear in your Community Maps queue.

i can't download and i subscribed and have Portal 2... help?
~Dreey 8. Dez. 2012 um 13:59 Uhr
Tricky, but still awesome!
Azorae  [Autor] 8. Dez. 2012 um 13:42 Uhr
As far as the actual difficulty of this chamber, this is definitely one of my easier puzzles.
Azorae  [Autor] 8. Dez. 2012 um 13:42 Uhr
The star-based rating system works oddly on Steam's workshop. It starts you in the middle, with 2.5 stars, and gradually increases and decreases the rating as people vote a submission up or down. In order to reach five stars, a map needs to be voted up hundreds of times (I'm not sure of the exact threshold)

This map is currently rated 4/5, which is, I believe, as high as a rating can go with only 267 (as of this post) ratings.
alternated 8. Dez. 2012 um 11:32 Uhr
Very good map. But you should have added some clues/hints. Other players may get frustrated and give up (hence the three stars.)
RateChange 8. Dez. 2012 um 8:57 Uhr
This is absolutely brilliant.
haggardclint 8. Dez. 2012 um 7:56 Uhr
To me the solution at first seemed simple. I was wrong. It was actually clever.
GraveNoX 8. Dez. 2012 um 6:35 Uhr
Really nice chamber!
tuyuqas 8. Dez. 2012 um 5:33 Uhr
It is not said in vain: the most simple solution is the right solution. At first I was amazed that all the commenters said that this chamber is too simple. HOW ON EARTH CAN IT BE SO? I tried all possiblbe methods, positions, angles, nothing helped. And then it hit me. Looking at a huge variety of unlikely variants and methods did not allow me too see the simple truth.
Now about the chamber: as always, magnificent. And once again im full of pride of myself that I could solve this on my own.
My immense thankfulness and appreciation to you!!!
