Thank you so much for playing all of my chambers. It's been over ten years since I published this chamber and I'm not sure how to solve it anymore.

I always try to make something that most or no one has seen. As a result, they tend to be very difficult to a casual player as you point out.

Now that I got the dreaded "Steam Cloud Exhausted" error, the chambers will take longer to publish, at least until I get the hang of using the new method.

Thanks again for testing.

Well, I finally finished the Andi collection. I've spent more time on your maps than everything else Portal combined. On a few maps you asked for feedback and thoughts, so I've been saving up a little.

I got through without cheating, except "flashsave" which I discovered halfway through your maps. I "ninja'd" through a couple maps incorrectly, only to laugh when I saw how much easier the intended solution was. Three maps had what I felt were larger flaws: X Marks the Spot needed a jump at a precise height, which could be relaxed by extending the walkway into the water a tile's worth. The first puzzle in The Great Escape IV gave me fits because the portal places upside down, cheating the physics to make the jump work. And I have a dozen complaints about the Great Escape Final Room / puzzle, mostly as a missed opportunity to give an accumulative reward to the faithful, which I surely was.

Before I encountered your levels, I figured that I had seen most every trick Portal had to offer. The number of new, creative, challenging, fair moves you came up with / collected is amazing. The first time I figured out the "air ramp on speed gel" trick, your signature move if you had one, I felt like a champ. Time and time again I would be forced to put a map away because it felt impossible, only to solve it the next day within minutes. Even with the full game that only happened a couple of times. Each map had personality.

The first room in "Triple Double" was my favorite "Portal" anything, an incredible challenge made harder by your comment that no tricks were needed. There are too many "honorable mentions" to name. I have minor suggestions for a lot of levels, even my favorites, but I kept quiet because you made them so long ago. (...put a save spot here, put a no-ninja poster there, use a "press once button" earlier in a level that depends on it later...)

The only reason you don't have perfect 5-star reviews on your levels is because the ratings don't separate quality from difficulty, and your levels are too challenging and relentless for the casual player. It's really a crime - as a group, with a few minor changes, it's a worthy challenging expansion pack. The "hot maps this month" seem trite by comparison. In terms of raw puzzling, your levels average better than the game levels - which is as high a compliment I can give, considering the esteem the game is held in. You are a terrific levelmaker.

Bravo!

PS - loved the catwalk with the laser on this level. People complain about the strangest things.

Thank you. This chamber does have it's moments. Thanks for testing.
Chelliste 12. mars 2015 kl. 21.33
This one and Landlocked are among the most difficult I've ever played. I'm GLaD you made it. :-)

Thank you very much, I'm GLaD you liked it.
GBMusicMaster 11. aug. 2014 kl. 8.37
DONE!!! I visited this puzzle on at least three separate occasions, but I finally figured it out. Brilliantly built, but slam-your-head-against-the-wall frustrating for me in a couple of spots. I like that your chambers rely on wits and not ninja skills--I feel like I've accomplished something when I solve them. Great job, Andi. Thumbs up!

I'm GLaD you liked it. Thanks.

Wonderful map. Beautiful design and a strong puzzle behind it. I enjoyed each step as I progressed closer to the exit. My constant friend, F6 was with me. The flip panel got me for a while and then the angled panel got me. I figured em out eventually. Shooting the final portals was a breeze. Don't know why anyone would have trouble with that unless they got tunnel vision. Happens to me all the time. Thank you and keep making them. I'm running out.
Andi  [skaper] 13. mars 2014 kl. 15.24
I'm GLaD you liked it. Thanks for playing.
Nube52 12. mars 2014 kl. 19.09
Done! I could not travel to exit room as I thouhgt in two trips 1 for cube 1 for me so we did it toghether I let go of the magnetic hold shot my portals in mid air and we (me and my reflection cube) ended up in exit room together withl portals sloppily placed but good enough to activate exit It was a letting go - frreeing - miracle expierience.
Nube52 12. mars 2014 kl. 10.05
Yes I'm using light bridge I was just elevating it to fast I slowed down balance all good now. I had a think on this map and now that I know layout of exit room I think I can send relector cube via ceiling panel and 45 panel to it alone (last time I travelled with it) and then send myself through placing two shots on the way, but it will be tricky finess stuff Amazing map it gets my creative juices going regarding making variations and spinoffs of the concepts in future. Thanks fro making.
Andi  [skaper] 12. mars 2014 kl. 9.22
You said you had a problem balancing the cube on the 'platform' You are using the light bridge to balance the cube on right? I haven't had any problem with balance the cube on the bridge. I have no doubt you will be able to solve this chamber.
Nube52 11. mars 2014 kl. 23.06
Ok I'm 3/4 there the Map is brilliant me a little less so, I figured out the ceiling panel and getting the reflector cube into the exit room I've even got the exit door open but I'm not in the exit room as had to leave to place two portal shots for laser from outside the room left and right of 45 degree panel but I'm not sure how to get back to room. I am worried I have to start over and place two shots wille flying through the air and juggling a cube and that's way beyond my dexrterity.
Nube52 11. mars 2014 kl. 20.44
Andi so far the layout is amazing and the puzzle intriguing but it's also very frustrating I have hard time balancing refelctor cube out to the laser over jump platform because I have to put it down to shoot position then it falls off (are you laughing) ; it would be nice to just park it on light bridge and collect it later but mesh screen prevents that yet I'm sure mesh is required part of puzzle. Meanwhile pesestal button behind door with square sinage I can find no corresponding square to see what it does. I will keep trying but this is proving to be a 9/10 for difficulty so far.

Thank you.

Found it by name, Quantum Dynamics, I will try it when i get home from work - thanks.

No, I only have published here so far. Thanks for that huge compliment.

Can´t wait:)) I know that workshop is more popular but..... Do you publish your chambers in "Thinking with Portal.com"? . There are only masters in that page. And.... you are a master builder.
Andi  [skaper] 1. feb. 2014 kl. 9.14
Thank you very much. I have a new chamber comming out this Monday.
Requiemsoul 1. feb. 2014 kl. 8.49
I´m sad :(. This chamber was my last one. An amazing , challenging and creative Workshop!. Congrautlations

This chamber is my 2nd favorite test after Landlocked.

An excellent puzzle; the last part was really tough!

Thank you very much the kind comments. I'm happy to hear that your enjoying my chambers.
scjay 8. nov. 2013 kl. 3.01
Nice...I like Puzzles that are this size (Your not writing a whole game). Misdirection is good too.
I think I'm familar enough with your design style and portal techniques that I try not to over think the challenge (I mean that with the utmost respect) i.e. Ochman's razor)). The puzzle should be challenging but Fun.
I also noticed that your getting a lot better at tightening up your puzzles in respect to the accuracy of where you can go anwhere you can't...Good Job.

Andi  [skaper] 14. des. 2012 kl. 8.52
I know exactly what you mean but I don't think I'm going to change it, at least not yet. It works and besides, I've played chambers that have been far nastier. I'm sure everyone else has too.
Subtle_Kay 14. des. 2012 kl. 1.19
Maybe the very end part is a bit too delicate? It just seems to be cutting things a little fine, but maybe that's the only way.
Andi  [skaper] 7. des. 2012 kl. 8.07
Excellent point.
Innocentive 6. des. 2012 kl. 11.58
No, not too many problems ... but it's not called Discouragment Beam for nothing ;)
Andi  [skaper] 6. des. 2012 kl. 10.59
Nope, you didn't overlook anything, you did it right. The question of sharing the light bridge with the laser did pass through my mind and I didn't want to make it to difficult. However, through a lot of playthroughs of my own I discovered that it was only nominally difficult to manuver on the light bridge with the laser so I left it in because that's how I wanted the first room to the second to be solved. Sorry if it gave to too many problems.
Innocentive 6. des. 2012 kl. 1.24
That was a challenging puzzle. Here's what I didn't like: sharing a light bridge with a laser and maneuvering on a small platform with a faith plate . Now, I did like the idea with the angled panel ... it took me some trying to figure out how to use it properly but I think it turned out fine how angled and flip panel 'interact'. I also liked the first part of the puzzle very much because you had to advance step by step continuosly progressing through trial and error (F6 was my best friend in this map!). One question: Once you reach the exit the first time are you supposed to back track all the way to the beginnng or did I overlook something?
Andi  [skaper] 5. des. 2012 kl. 10.03
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed this map. Sorry about the trouble with the cube though. I thought about adding a button to spawn another cube but I'd assumed that the cube would have already been destroyed if the player went back to that room... looks like I was wrong. Sorry.
mshammer 5. des. 2012 kl. 9.00
I really liked this map. It took a little time and thought. I liked that you used the square panel to solve two different portions of the puzzle.

Wasted a little time when I got to the middle with the cube but not the light bridge. Went back to the beginning and discovered I couldn't respawn the cube, had to go back and destroy it then go back to the beginning again.

Andi  [skaper] 2. des. 2012 kl. 20.13
GLaD to hear everyone is enjoying this map.
8MMW 1. des. 2012 kl. 10.14
That was a good map. Especially the trick about how to get the cube to the square button, at first it seemed impossible with all those fizzlers, but it was easy actually. I also finished the last part the way Luc has described.
Hey Handsome 30. nov. 2012 kl. 22.29
Fairly challenging, good map.
Andi  [skaper] 30. nov. 2012 kl. 8.32
That's true, if you go back to the beginning without the cube, you will have to start over.
Luc 29. nov. 2012 kl. 5.49
Really nice challenging map. There are a lot of different things to considered, like that. Took me some time to master ;).

For the last part where the companion cube is in his last position I went back to the first two rooms after that it wasn't possible anymore to get to the exit. So I started from the beginning :(. So I did the last trick by jumping to the platform in the water and set the last two portals.
Andi  [skaper] 25. nov. 2012 kl. 21.35
Thanks tonica, you are the master. I've made the modifications to prevent that clever move.
toncica 25. nov. 2012 kl. 19.17
Could not bypass the angled panel. However the first laser can be left unused.

Andi  [skaper] 25. nov. 2012 kl. 16.28
Thanks for your feed back. I've made changes to prevent that. You should have to use the angled panel now. Let me know if you can still bypass it.
Gnobel 25. nov. 2012 kl. 9.17
I didn't use the angled panel either. Even tho I tried to use it the first time but it didn't work they way I wanted to. Non the less I enjoyed this map, wasn't that hard. Keep on the good work!:)
toncica 24. nov. 2012 kl. 15.35
Looks very promising. I believe the room that holds the "big cube" should be a tad larger. It gives the impression that Aperture had to cut corners and barely fit it into the chamber. Also the player could wish to have a better look beyond the fizzler from where he stands. If there is no specific reason for the long walk back into the light bridge via the funnel that I have been missing, you could make that shorter.
When I saw the chance to finish the chamber I took it, although that couldn't be quite the intended way and I left the angled panel unused. Thumbed up now, I believe you'll address these slight issues.

Here is my blind run: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16159596/quantum.dem
