However, I'm not sure how important it is to "fix" it. I'm a big fan of alternate solutions even if they're shortcutty. The question you should ask is how easy is it to discover that solution, not whether it's possible in the first place. If it's something people besides Mevious will get on their first playthrough, then it's worth patching. If it's something that basically no one will discover until a second playthrough, then I think it's usually worth keeping.
If someone wants to feel more special and being more challanged, like in the movie, I would recommend my PortCube .
