Is this software just for story writing? Do you write a story broad then create a game? Can you play the game that you just made or wrote?
Sorry for all the question I am a would be new user or costormer if i buy the software. I am interest, but there was no video for a in game play where you are playing the game you make. So I can only asume this just for creating a story.

Cool tool and i'm waiting for the mac edition. Seeing as most softwares are available on mac. Is there a good reason why this one is not? I want this software ;)
Nevigo  [ophavsmand] 27. feb 2013 kl. 10:49pm
@Vendrium: We just ask you to be fair and upgrade to the commercial license when your game is successful and you earn money with it. We won't come and visit you, if you don't. We just trust that you'll do it freely.
Vendrium 27. feb 2013 kl. 9:39pm
I'm a bit confused about the business model. As far as I understand - this software is sort of like a mind map organizer. It isn't actually a programming package with which you create your game (coding, etc.).

So - how do you differenciate between commercial and non-commercial projects and how would you even verify this?

What stops me from buying the non commercial version at a greatly reduced price - use it to organize my game - then develop my game and not ever mention the fact that I used Artisy - and never having to pay royalities - as my game will never receive a watermark "Developed by Artisy".

Could you please clarify?

Out now, guys!
Nevigo  [ophavsmand] 27. feb 2013 kl. 6:13am
Date is the 27th - so it's kind... today! Not sure about the time, though. And @DeathNova - you know, if anything goes wrong, contact us and we'll extend your license.

Hi everyone, we're expecting articy:draft SE to be available on the Steam store within the next 24 hours. Thanks to every one of you for your support and your patience! Enjoy the software and be sure to give us any feedback you have. - The Nevigo Team (as excited as you are!)

Latest word (as of Monday, the 18th) is they're still sorting out the specifics of how the licensing is going to work with regards to the Steam Edition. Some people are still raising some (very much valid) points.

In case anyone's wondering where I'm getting this information from, they have official forums for this over at http://www.nevigo.com/forum/ (which I suggest keeping an eye on, as the staff do post updates on specific features they're working on in the forums as well)

Okay, It's only been a couple weeks, but I'm feeling antsy. I just want to get this bought and done. Haven't seen anything on the site; and I'm sure it's because everyone is busy getting it ready.

Has anybody heard anything though? Valve, Nevigo, Kitsune, anybody?
Kitsune Zeta 13. feb 2013 kl. 3:48pm
Single-User projects (those made running the Single-User shortcut or with the -singleuser command-line parameter) should work in both the SE and Normal versions, even if they were made while under the trial key (I strongly suspect that the actual executible for the trial version is no different from the "normal" version). Multi-user projects, on the other hand, will not work (this has been explicitly stated on the nevigo forums).
Jason_c_o 13. feb 2013 kl. 1:49pm
So converting from Steam to normal will cost the difference in price, but how will I import my projects from the demo into Steam?
Kitsune Zeta 7. feb 2013 kl. 9:46pm
Just a heads up for those wondering and not digging up anything on their research: As it stands (straight from Nevigo staff on the Nevigo forums), The "Steam Edition" is a discounted single-user version for noncommercial use. You won't be able to do the multi-user stuff (locking, unlocking, checking in and out files, etc.), but you should be able to share the project files with other people running both the Steam Edition AND the normal regular version. From what I read, the Steam Edition is probably going to be less than $100, and converting from the Steam Edition to the regular edition will only cost the difference in price.

Again, this is based on fairly recent Nevigo staff posts on the official forums.

Nevigo  [ophavsmand] 31. jan 2013 kl. 9:57am
Hello everybody,

we want to give you a quick update on the status regarding articy:draft SE. We are currently working very hard together with Valve to get articy:draft released on Steam. We don’t have a date for the release at the moment, but want to let you know we are currently woking on some technical details and articy:draft will be published as quickly as possible when these details are sorted out.

Therefore we’d like to offer those of you who are currently working with the trial version and would like to continue to do so, to extend your key until the release of articy:draft SE. if you would like to extend your trial key please contact us at sales@nevigo.com.

Thank you very much for your continued support.

The team at Nevigo.
Mr Payne 30. jan 2013 kl. 3:23pm
I'm in the same boat as Death Nova. I don't want to loose my momentum. When is Articy:Draft going to be released on Steam? Also, can you give us a clue as to the packages and pricing plans that will be available?

BTW: Congratulations on the greenlight! We are eagerly anticipating it's release.

On another topic, I only have three days left on my free trial...

When's it coming? I wanna keep working. I've got Gigabytes on this project.
I know you said about two weeks after you got greenlit...

My production is down as of Feb 2nd, so...

I hope your release date is gonna be Feb 1st

Steam already offers indie developers collaboration support through workshop. They don't need to offer their servers to us, they can just let us use steam cloud.
Jason_c_o 28. jan 2013 kl. 3:24pm
I agree with pretty much everything Amerika said below. I've been using the demo of this program, and I really love it, but I could never justify the prices set on the website. I know the claim is greatly reduced prices on steam, for indies and hobbyists, but "greatly reduced' from already "exorbitantly high" doesn't seem very promising...

Zable 27. jan 2013 kl. 4:16pm
would uploading your work onto the articy servers to collaborate bring further cost? or is this a free service? also, is it possible to export the "powerpoint game" to show others, as an early concept-build of the game?
T3HFish 24. jan 2013 kl. 7:46am
Did the trial, was greatly impressed with the software and eagerly waiting for this to become available... hopefully the price will be reasonable.

So what's up, is Articy still on track for the two weeks after greenlight release time? Is this going to be up in february?
Amerika 23. jan 2013 kl. 12:23pm
Perhaps I am not your audience. But, I could be if you come down in price to more reasonable levels and make adjustments. The server should be free or come with licenses/hosting and the reader should definitely be free (think Adobe Reader, Word Viewer etc. here).

Also, if I buy a single license and a friend buys one does that mean we can't work on the same project because we didn't buy the $1200 multi-user license?
Amerika 23. jan 2013 kl. 12:23pm
I checked out the website and your software is obviously great but the price is way too high for even above average income people. Almost $500 US for a single license that doesn't include any collaboration. Over $1100 to bring anybody else in on your designs and allow them edit access. Over $100 if you just want to show your work to somebody (read only...no editing functionality. This should be free). Over $1000 for a server that you then have to purchase $500-1100 licenses for and you need to have a host for it.

I was highly interested in this product until I found out how expensive it was going to be. If you can command those prices then I guess more power to you. But I work in software development for a living, have a high amount of interest in your product and I get paid fairly well (and no dependents) and even I couldn't justify paying that much and neither would small start-ups (who would just use free story board software anyway).

I tested the tool while beta and I can say it's just amazing.
Kedaro 16. jan 2013 kl. 5:13am
Sounds good, sounds like I could stand to save a lot of money in the long run by using this, as It negates most other brainstorming necessities(which get costly during development with an entire team), also looks like it could revolutionize the way in which we do in fact make the games.
Shadowscype 16. jan 2013 kl. 4:30am
Congratulation on getting greenlit!
Frankotaco 16. jan 2013 kl. 2:20am

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited to pick up this software. We played with the trial for a month and there is absolutely nothing like it. Seriously deserves a 6 out of 5 rating!
SAUNA 15. jan 2013 kl. 10:13am
I would rather say stay away from the computer when you try to create stuff, cause it has to start on your heart and mind and not in/from a machine.

So, that said, I recon this could be a great tool specially when you have to work with other people in a non linear fashion where, sometimes, is very hard to communicate ideas or they could be too abstract for the others to catch up fast and you spend most of the time explaining than doing (oh very frustrating indeed). I can imagine this software could be used not just for game design.

Congrats on your greenlit.
Tomaš Nepotrébko 15. jan 2013 kl. 9:08am
Now, you should release about 1st of Feb., don't you? ;)
Nevigo  [ophavsmand] 15. jan 2013 kl. 9:06am
Yaaay! We're shining bright and green. Thanks to anyone who voted for us and helped us get greenlight. We'll keep you posted here.

OMG I would buy this!!!!
Virwinia 15. jan 2013 kl. 3:45am
I am surprised with this tool. Looks really interesting, powerful and useful (well, depend on your project, of course). Anyway, is very complete, looks easy to use and looks it offers a clear organization of information. However, the current price (on the site) is pretty high for Indies and Hobbyists. Hope see soon the tool and the final price for us on Steam. First software that I fav'ed.
