Had a little trouble at the first part, and really throughout most of it except the very end. But when i heard my song "Exile Villify" playing (not my as in I wrote it or anything, I just really like it) I stoped to liszten. That porbably helped solve that part too, cause i got a chance to look it over aspectively (don't know if i'm using that term correctly) and figure out what i had to do b4 i did it. Overall it was a great test and i really enjoyed it, especially the song. <3 8.5/10

This test chamber is sinister! It had me overthinging the part where I get this two blocks into the small room that opens up the final room. I sat scratching my head, not realizing I had already solved that part of the puzzle! I just couldn't let go of access to the earlier room which is what stumped me. I love a clever design that twists my brain like this!

You Sir, are a fiend!
....Well done.

I loved the ending. Loved the whole puzzle. This kind of puzzle is why I still play Portal 2.

Excellent test! I never could get the timers to turn on, but it turns out I didn't need to.

Thank you for this great chamber. Can you give name of song in the end of the map?
Long Stride Dec 14, 2013 @ 11:01am
Holy shit, this is a great map.Well done

very good

The ending was a stumper for about 5 minutes, then I noticed the timers. Well done, and unique. Design 9/10 Difficulty 6/10

@LoneWolf2056, snowowl: Damn, I forgot you could do that.
LoneWolf2056  [author] Oct 17, 2013 @ 10:57am
@hodosil, you need to crouch to get on xD
snowowl Oct 16, 2013 @ 3:55pm

I don't remember if it was this part or part 2 where you had to navigate through the red grills to get behind the glass and get the cube, but it was really convienient that there was an earthquake and the way back out was through a previously cracked, but now broken window. I am looking forward to continuing through the rest of the dilapitation series and starting the reconstruction ones.

One little glitch near the end, just before you use the 2 cubes to drop the field. If you use the excursion funnel to float up to the ceiling, you can become trapped floating around up there, even when you are not in the funnel. The solution is to just fire an exit portal on the floor and when you get into it, you will be able to just walk out normally.

Great maps!

- TechOwl -

p.s. - hodosil - I just crouched and walked into the lift at the end.
hodosil Oct 16, 2013 @ 1:40pm
I've hit a glitch. At the end. And by "the end" I really mean the end. I can't get on the lift. At first I thought that maybe It was supposed to be damaged and there is a way around it, but I looked at the playthrough and it is supposed to work. But not for me.

I'm not going through the puzzle again. I've enjoyed it, the difficulty of mentally working out the steps is excellent, but actually going through it isn't as fun due to those weighted buttons being so fussy about the angle of the cube.

Another awesome map! Thansk aloth! *****
LoneWolf2056  [author] Sep 19, 2013 @ 1:30pm
@Le Reff, thanks, glad you enjoyed, this puzzle is actually one of my own personal favourites, although the very last section didnt work out quite that well, I do like the second part of the puzzle. Not that long really, ideas just randomly come to me, I play through it in my head and then I make a rough map in hammer and see how it goes from there. Yea the breaking glass is just to easily get the first cube if you lose it :)
AsinoEsel Sep 18, 2013 @ 9:31am
Great map!
I thought I was already awesome for solving it, but dude you have to be a genius for designing this! How long did you take to just get the IDEA for this map? This is just awesome! Hard puzzle, but not impossible.
I didn't need the breaking glass btw, but maybe it's just an autosave.
ProfDave64 Aug 1, 2013 @ 10:59pm
I'm torn about what to think of this level. Comparing it to a movie, the set design and special effects were great, but the script had problems, especially at the very ending.

There is a moment in a lot of great puzzles -- where the solver has seen the entire puzzle and thinks that it looks completely impossible (and THEN discovers the solution). However...

I agree with the people who complained that the ending cheats too much with standard Portal "physics." There is a weighted button that doesn't behave quite right and also cube buttons that don't behave quite right. I was so busy spinning my head, trying to look at things as I redirected portals that I didn't even notice the little timer indicators until after I had read every comment.

And yet... the set design! And the various visual and audio effects! All amazing!

Is it too late to recommend tweaking the ending so that it seems a little more "fair?"

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next one. Great work!

I do need 50 minutes.
These 50 minutes I have had a lot of fun.
Bayram May 9, 2013 @ 8:57am
I found this one hard (thumbs up again, though). The second puzzle took me a long time to figure out; like Selyp, I was over-thinking it until it suddenly clicked. But, it was the last puzzle that sent me to the playthrough. I did not realize that the door would stay open and that I could therefore just stand on the round button.
wildgoosespeeder May 7, 2013 @ 10:30am
Good.
theblackwidower May 1, 2013 @ 5:50pm
Just loaded the map, and wanted to say something before I forget. The opening is way too stiff. Needs to feel more fluid. It doesn't feel like I'm flying through a tube. It feels like I'm being led through a scripted section in a video game.
temporarymanwastaken Apr 30, 2013 @ 5:35pm
Another frustration with the end puzzle is that funnels don't always fit cubes into the square buttons. On half my tries, I had to ride up the funnel and position the cube by hand.
Selyp Apr 22, 2013 @ 8:33pm
Tricky, but awesome! Here is my playthrough - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_aTBDDLwss
piotr_mil Apr 19, 2013 @ 4:09pm
Surprisingly easy, though I got stuck for a while.
LoneWolf2056  [author] Apr 13, 2013 @ 3:00am
@mikael.nyberg you shouldnt need to be that fast if you are doing it correctly You need a bit of momentum and the funnel again and you should be doing it while standing on the only non cube button
mikael.nyberg Apr 12, 2013 @ 10:47pm
The last room is no fun , I simply cant be that fast with the controlls :(
Unserious Business Apr 4, 2013 @ 3:53pm
Agreed that the last room is wrong, even though it is a nifty puzzle. It would be better if there was some specific element that made it irreversible by standard rules — for example, suppose activation caused a dropper to drop a sphere that was then used to open the exit.
kimist108 Apr 3, 2013 @ 6:30pm
Finished it totally as a fluke. Didn't like the ending.
jjjlenn Mar 28, 2013 @ 9:43pm
OK, i was embarrassed at not finishing this, so i reacted badly. I still don't agree with the decision to make the end as it was, but you, Lonewolf, are a brilliant constructor and i wildly applaud your puzzles to this point. Such prodigious ability carries a very high bar for exactitude though. I don't think that last degree of difficulty was worthy of your craft.
jjjlenn Mar 28, 2013 @ 9:18pm
The last part was a cheat, so i voted thumbs down. *Every* activator button i have ever played (including in this very puzzle) deactivates as soon as you remove the cube or step off. I was literally 2 seconds from ending this thing but figured i needed another cube due to the fact that as soon as i stepped off, the exit would shut. I floundered for an hour or so and finally watched a walk-through. What a disappointment that what i had learned through portals 1 and 2 was suddenly a sham change in this puzzle - at the end only. That is a cheat.

great :)
puzzles hardest so far. but good.
the final sollution, was interesting :)
don't recall seeing that before.
crawled into the lift :)

Great map! Cheers!
LoneWolf2056  [author] Mar 19, 2013 @ 4:58pm
@mikemoody No problem, glad you are enjoying, watch out for part 4 though its the hardest map in the series >_< Like all my maps though, the solution itself should be easy to carry out, the trick is finding out what it is :p Good luck
mikemoody Mar 19, 2013 @ 4:01pm
This map like #0 was hard for me, But at least I'm on my way to #4 now. Thanks for the hours of fun I've had so far.
spaceowl Mar 2, 2013 @ 11:59am
Phantastic Chamber! :) But in the room with the four buttons and two cubes, I wasn't fast enough :(
The Chaplain Mar 1, 2013 @ 7:10am
That sir, was pure genuis - some of the hardest puzzels I have done yet - good to see there is finally some challenging ones out! Good job!
Ryan Feb 12, 2013 @ 12:30am
Great map, once I worked out that the exit door doesn't close itself....
LoneWolf2056  [author] Feb 3, 2013 @ 9:03pm
Congrats and good luck, part 4 is very hard!
GIANTBLUE Feb 3, 2013 @ 8:33pm
I loved this map. I felt so accomplished when I finally completed it! On to number 4!
Chiscringle Jan 13, 2013 @ 9:38am
Great map, even though I never got past the bit where the direction reverses.
LoneWolf2056  [author] Jan 4, 2013 @ 4:54pm
Well its been a while, combination of a "mappers block" :p and being sick :( But will be starting work on new stuff soon
machmanx Oct 20, 2012 @ 9:50pm
I enjoyed this map. It's as if you took the best of the first two and put it in this third one. The map was actually challenging at times. But I got through them all without spending too much time on them. I'm surprised that I got that last exit done quickly because it was definitely a challenge. Love this series and hope you make more!

Thanks for the radio music. Love that tune :D
LoneWolf2056  [author] Oct 18, 2012 @ 3:13pm
Dont worry I know what you mean but it is very difficult to think up an extra soluton and add things that were part of it and are now broke because you dont want to distract the player with testing elements that seem like part of the puzzle and then they waste time trying to find a way to activate them. Its more just a visual style for the map cause clean chambers are a bit bland to look at, but its difficult balancing clutter in the map without distracting the player from the solution.
