Great news indeed!
jester101  [author] Apr 11 @ 9:52am
I am happy to announce that Smugglers 5: Secession is going to be released on Steam for a discounted price of 9.99$ at 15:00 Pacific Daylight Time. You can find the full press-release at the bottom of this email.

Specifically for release on Steam, Smugglers 5: Secession now features a higher native screen resolution for the main game screens and the updated combat system from Smugglers 5: Invasion to make battles more varied. While today marks the official release on Steam, the developers will continue working on and improving the game.

Customers who purchased directly from us through BMTMicro are going to receive their Steam license keys as soon as possible - most likely at the beginning of next week or earlier. BMTMicro will send them out with new updated download links. If you do not receive them until Wednesday, please check your spam filter!

More information in the official announcement at the top of this page.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED AND SUPPORT THIS GAME!

There was always the option to play as a female pilot/captain since Smugglers 2. Just select a female player portrait.
Ailantan Mar 22 @ 8:50am
Is there a option now to play as famale pilot, or it still confuses me as male?
danisking Mar 21 @ 3:39pm

Steam can release a ton of crappy "early access" games but not this? What gives? This game is actually finished, unlike the dozen Day Z rip-offs in early access.

Thank you!

@"This game also gives a good idea of the Ethical Grey that could be involved in a Civil War."

This is exactly what I tried to show with the game and it´s great for me to see the message comes through.

@"Open Storylines....great possibility to develop an epic drama and a realistic universe"

We are writing our fingers off literally to build on this in a future release.

@Everyone: Sorry for the lack on news recently. We are extremly busy preparing everything for the release of an expansion, which is going to be announced soon and will very likely be released this spring!

This is a GREAT GAME! The Best Features of this Game are the ability to be a Neutral Trader/Pirate/Adventurer for awhile before choosing which one of the Four Factions in the ongoing Civil War to Join and Destroying a Space Station!

This game also gives a good idea of the Ethical Grey that could be involved in a Civil War. There's a Criminal Faction called the Syndicate that always has cheap illegal goods but legal goods are more expensive.

The Pro Slavery Faction called the Outer Rim has the Star System with the most planets and the most economic opportunity in General but how do you feel about supporting Slavers?

The original pre Civil War Government of the Federation makes all the goods expensive but has some of the best ships available for your use in the Game. Do you want to support that?

To sum it up this is a Great Game with Choices that put you in a passionate part of the story!

Steam. Now. Please. Now.
Vercinger Dec 14, 2013 @ 8:36am
Glad to see this on GOG, might end up buying it there. In any case, upvoted and hoping to see it greenlit.

@cm_192001: The only thing a developer can do is put it on Greenlight, I don't know what else you're expecting.
dphektive Dec 13, 2013 @ 9:07pm
Great game, steam needs more content available to offline players!!

Upvoted, been watching his on GOG for a bit...I think I will pick up direct though and hope for a Steam key once Greenlit (would get on GOG but they almost never arrange for Steam keys). Good Luck
Codehammer Nov 16, 2013 @ 8:27am
Quite like the premise of this one. Space games have always had a place in my heart
Orpheusftw Oct 8, 2013 @ 12:49pm
I liked Empires and Dungeons 2 a lot, and since that's not here, I'll vote this up instead as I'm sure its probably good as well.
cm_192001 Oct 7, 2013 @ 7:56pm
It seems pretty darn awesome, and seeing as how I have no GOG account, I highly suggest you make this available on Steam.
Otaku_Hanzo Oct 7, 2013 @ 1:44pm
Purchased it on GoG and loving it so far. Hope to see some mod support eventually. Voted for it on here.
Mister Mumbles Oct 4, 2013 @ 1:53pm
I voted for this game as the demo was pretty ace, and while I may not buy it here on Steam you got a GOG sale (as it is my favorite digital distributor) out of me. I definitely wish you success and hope this one will go through sooner than later.
jester101  [author] Oct 3, 2013 @ 8:34am
Thank you everyone.

Smugglers 5 is now live on GOG.com for $9.95. This would propably be the Steam release price as well. Please vote for Smugglers 5!
Shimigami Sep 26, 2013 @ 11:21pm
Love your series, but I only use a mac now. You should put out a mac version of the game!
DoxHoliday Sep 19, 2013 @ 10:25pm
Never played the Smuggler series but a fan of old-school turn-based space strategy ala Masters of Orion, etc.
Latteralus Sep 18, 2013 @ 5:35am
I've loved all of the other Smuggler's Games and have been a fan for over 3 years now. Keep them coming and I'll keep on buying!
jester101  [author] Sep 15, 2013 @ 1:44am
Smugglers 5 coming to GOG.com!

Great news! Smugglers 5 is coming DRM-free to GOG.com in early October. Thanks to the support of GOG.com Smugglers 5 can be sold at a large discount, which will be a good way to increase the audience and secure the funds needed for the first upcoming Smugglers 5 expansion.

Now, let´s convince Valve to greenlight it on Steam.
ManyFace Sep 14, 2013 @ 3:14pm
I played all five episodes of the game and I think it's really addictive :-)
Necrosyther Sep 12, 2013 @ 8:18am
Really good siers of games but much too expencive, a pricetag around $10 (when you consider its on steam which is a huge distrubution platform, and the game is vast but still very basic graphically and gameplay wise,) would be a much more appropirate and benefital price :)
damnusername Sep 10, 2013 @ 8:34pm
I already bought this game, can I get a steam code for it if it is greenlite?
Mac Flar Aug 30, 2013 @ 11:43pm
The game looks very nice so far I could see while playing demo version.
Alpha 5 Aug 28, 2013 @ 7:31am
The game looks good played 3 for a long time but the 30$ price tag is to high for this game. Get it on steam and be a part of steam sale or two and it would have way more sales then it will ever have at 30$ not on steam.
Demon Aug 4, 2013 @ 7:41pm
Really reminds me of a game I had for the Amiga 500+ but I cant remember the name >_< instead of seeing it sideways in combat you looked straight at the other spaceship instead. You were able to purchase goods on spacestations and you had to travel to another spacestation to sell at a higher price. Very simple but entertaining. This looks a little more detailed - all the better! :p
Ruinous Aug 4, 2013 @ 10:12am
Yup, the price kills any chance of an impulse buy. I really cannot see the value in the game from the demo but the concept is appealing, the price is a bit headscratching.

Maybe the dev should take a look at Spiderweb and Jeff Vogel's blogs, he was very adamant on pricing his games what they were 'worth' in terms of the effort he'd put in, and the amount of gameplay etc. Heck, I paid full whack for each and every title he put out. He had middling success for years, then managed to get a title onto Steam and found that discounting the price was making him a lot of money, now has the lot on here and is by any measure rather successful.
