The whole point of a laser field is to block the player but not physics... So if you're going to abuse the use of it in a test I don't see the point in commenting that the test can be skipped over...

The whole puzzle can be skipped: get a cube, throw it through laser field onto the button, place a portal on the flipped panel near the exit and go out.
