Only an Empty Room? 2: Surprise

I have managed to cheese the level to the max, and here's how:
1. Enter the first room and place the portal to the laser detector first
2. From the room you started in, shoot the portal to connect laser to detector
3. Press the button in the room
4. Enter the second room and drop the sphere
5. Place a portal that links the second room to the first room
6. Solve first room as intended and press the button in the room you started in when finished
7. Enter the third room and get the reflective cube
8. Place the reflective cube as close to the laser detector used to get the cube as close as possible
9. Jump to the detector, then to the platform with the flinging pad
10. Finish test chamber as usual
With this, I managed to solve the test in about a minute.

Just played again - intended solution is certainly easier. One day, I hope to grow a brain.
