Karnell- A Unique Skyrim Follower

WINNING STORY ENTRY by HERMAEUS MORA :
Karnell was of mixed heritage. Her mother was a wood elf and her father was a nord. Both were both part of a guild that protected the homestead Karnell lived in.
One fateful night, their home came under attack by bandits. Karnell’s parents were killed trying to protect her.
Karnell was crushed by the death of her parents. In a desperate act of grief and fear she managed to slip away during the raid.
She made it out to an old abandoned fort. She thought she would be safe there but, unknown to her, bosmer bandits had made it their home. She did her best to hide in the shadows but to no avail. She was quickly found by a couple of bosmer who then hit her over the head and locked her in the dungeons.
Over the years Karnell was subject to all kinds of unspeakable tortures, both of the body and the mind.
Once Karnell was of age, the bandit chief decided to put her to work. He had her trained in the art of battle.
For years she travelled with the bandits, stealing and even killing. It soon became apparent that Karnell was a skilled warrior. A natural born killer.
One night the bandits were gearing up for yet another raid. The bandit chief addressed the group and told them the village that was to be their next target. It was going to be Riverwood.
Karnell froze on the spot. Riverwood had been her home as a child. It was there her parents were killed and where her childhood was lost. The memories came flooding back to her. What was she doing? what had she become?
The group was to attack Riverwood the next night, the chief had decided that he was tired and so they all took to their beds. Karnell knew that this was her chance. She could do what her parents failed to do all those years ago and protect her home. She picked up her elven daggers and stealthily made her way around the camp. One by one she killed the bandits. Slit their throats in their sleep. Not one would be alowed to live.
After the deed was done, she made her way out of the camp. As she did she heard a welping sound coming from the bushes. It was a young fox, caught in one of the traps set by the bandits. Felling sorry for the creature, she rescued it from the trap and decided to take it with her. Like her the fox had been captured by the bandits. But this fox would not have the same fate as her. This fox would be her companion now.
Silently and swiftly she took into the nigh heading to the one other place she knew. Riverwood.
It was late when she arrrived, everyone was asleep in their homes. With the fox in her arms, she headed to the riverside. She remembered how her father used to teach her how to fish there. Karnell lay the fox beside her and went to sleep. When she woke the next morning the fox was gone. Once again she was alone. She was lost and without purpose. There she sat, waiting for someone to show her the way. To give her purpose again.

An original follower for Skyrim. Karnell is a half elf/ half human warrior princess. More than just a Breton, she shows clear traits of both her human and elven halves. You'll find her near the riverside by Riverwood.


She levels with the player and is essential.
