Descriere
What is Rogue Raiders Online?

Rogue Raiders Online is a sci-fi Action RPG game with strong emphasis on exploration and cooperative multiplayer.

Players will create their own character and venture alone or in up to a four raiders team exploring worlds, getting jobs done.

Main features:
  • Single player and offline modes also included!
  • Real-time hack and slash combat.
  • Online cooperative multiplayer.
  • Instead of a traditional leveling system, Rogue Raiders features a skill-tree building system similar to games like Star Wars Galaxies.

The Game

The main idea of the game is a co-op experience in a hostile environment. So it's not going to be the standard "lets be friends" approach but more of a "we need to cooperate in order to survive". You're not a knight in shining armor but rather a rogue with his own agenda.

In Rogue Raiders Online, there is no galaxy to save but a rent to pay.

You start creating and customizing your own raider, choosing between several alien races and classes, each one with unique stats and traits that may dramatically affect your gameplay.

Then you will be sent to a near space station which serves as a central hub for players to find each other, purchase better equipment, sell valuables, etc.

There will be job boards, which list available quests for you or your team. After assembling a crew, you will travel to a planet to do the job.

Planets will be handmade, no procedural or random planets that end up looking all up the same.

Like any other RPG, Rogue Raiders is filled with quests or jobs for you and your team to do.

The jobs you can get will vary depending on your raider cred, your reputation with the three main factions, among other things.

They are varied and can involve tasks like traveling to a spaceship crash site in order to find survivors, scavenge the remaining gear, doing planetary cartography, steal trade secrets for a rival faction, etc.

These jobs are a collaborative effort, although sometimes one of your crew can have a secret "rogue objective" than can jeopardize the current mission, so you never know up to what point you can trust the others.

After all you are all rogues so what can you expect!

The game will feature a singleplayer offline mode too, so you can go and explore on your own, hunt creatures, or maybe find a nice robot, hack it to later resell it and earn some credits.

Each world has its own biome, dungeons, puzzles, enemies and treasures. The events in them will constantly change, so they will be living worlds with constant activity.

Races

There are four playable races:

Felinces

Felinces are great hunters, they are curious creatures, and many felinces embark on adventures through the galaxy.

They value their privacy, and are slow to make friends. But once you get to gain their trust, they make the most loyal team mates that you will find.

Rasposos

They have a strong personality and enjoy being in groups. They posses high intelligence and physical strenght, making them extraordinary adversaries in close combat.

Proud to a fault, they are a strange mix of peacefulness and aggression.

They are usually trustworthy, at least until the job is done. Then they don't have any problem switching sides.

Ostrigis

Ostrigis are quiet creatures by nature, and most of them have psychic abilities.

They are observers, lurkers in the shadows, and prefer indirect combat and jobs that require intellectual skills rather than physical labor.

Gekkotas

They are called the cold-blooded because of their cold behavior.

They make great assassins and thieves due to their natural speed.

Professions

There are four playable professions:

  • Smuggler.
  • Gunslinger.
  • Mindwalker.
  • Hacker.

Factions

There are three rival factions, and you can gain reputation working for them.

  • Aurelial: The biggest federation of planets, highly corrupted.
  • Felivora: Aggressive colonialists.
  • Polykhia: A small anarchist collective of independent planets.

Thanks! I'm a fan of Rare in their N64 era. The game does have a lot of references, from the western sci-fi feel from Firefly, the mix of fun and challenging found in old NES action RPG games, to the online mechanics of Phantasy Star Online and even a bit of gameplay ideas from MMOs like Star Wars Galaxies.

Glad I randomly thought to look this up today on a whim - totally forgot about it, and I'm super happy to hear you've switched platforms to the PC! I always loved the concept when I heard of it - its an astounding looking game for a one-woman project! It really reminds me of some of my favorite old Rare games, visually - stuff like Dinosaur Planet and Jet Force Gemini; man it looks awesome, and sounds great. The only turnoff for me before was the PSVita exclusivity. I hope you succeed here on Greenlight and PC as you slowly put this baby together - I look forward to watching its progress :D

Hello, KS Vita supporter here, and happy to support the PC version. Always hoping of course for a Vita edition in the future :)

Ah. So moving to PC support first and then to the Vita? That's actually a very good idea.
