This was an enjoyable level. Not too obscure not too obvious. Fun.

I really liked it, even if you can "cheat" it, I played through the "hard" way and really enjoyed it.

One more comment then I'm done for now: if you *do* think that it's too easy to discover the alternative solution now and want to change the level to accomodate, then completely closing it off isn't the only option: you could also just make it harder to find. (For example, replace the light bridge with a different way up: perhaps a pulling funnel.) Walking on the laser grid emitters and the light bridge aren't the only ways to get atop the cube. :-)

Keep in mind the sub-10-second solution to Portal 1's chamber 14 (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wMaurcXM6w) , which Valve deliberately left in. That sort of thing *enhances* the game, not detracts from it. I played this level way more than I would have if there wasn't a cheeky solution through it. :-)

Actually you don't even need to use the light bridge to complete the puzzle ... you don't even have to enter the cube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TypIyr4LYBw

However, I'm not sure how important it is to "fix" it. I'm a big fan of alternate solutions even if they're shortcutty. The question you should ask is how easy is it to discover that solution, not whether it's possible in the first place. If it's something people besides Mevious will get on their first playthrough, then it's worth patching. If it's something that basically no one will discover until a second playthrough, then I think it's usually worth keeping.

Easy but very fun.

You really should fix it so whatever the last step is supposed to be = triggers the exit door to open. Leaving the exit door open permits bypassing the whole puzzle via the light bridge.

I'm reminded of a similar chamber involving a gigantic companion cube. This one, however, successfully adds a level of suspense to the concept by forcing you to literally watch your step. All I've got for my latest one is a hallway and many small floating "cubes"; not the ones your thinking of though. I prefer to call them blocks in this case.
