How to fix the compatibility issues with Windows 8/10/11

This guide will help you if you are experiencing the white screen issues, graphical bugs or launching problems with Trackmania Nations Forever / United Forever. These steps solved my problems with the game.

Tutorial

1. Edit the Nadeo.ini -file. This is the default installation path, so your game files might be elsewhere.

C:\Program Files\(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TrackMania Nations Forever\Nadeo.ini

2. Find a row with "Distro=XXXXX". Delete contents after "Distro=" and change it to "Distro=MILIN". If this is already correct, you can continue. Save and close the file.

3. Download the update file (It says "United Forever" in it, but don't worry, it works great with TM Nations too). If the link below doesn't open, please copy it to a different browser.

4. Install the patch and point it to your Trackmania Nations Forever folder, for example:

C:\Program Files\(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TrackMania Nations Forever

5. That's it! When the installation is finished, the game is ready to play. Depending on what the problem was, the game should work well now.

For account creation errors you have to enable TLS2.0/TLS3.0

For those getting the "Unable to determine the version of TMUnitedForever currently installed." error, I think I found the issue. I had mine installed on my secondary drive and it gave me the same error but it works after switching the install directory to the primary (C:\) drive.

FOR THOSE WHO GOT PROBLEMS WITH THE LINK NOT WORKING!

Copy it to a different browser .
It doesn't work for me in Chrome , but works perfectly fine in Edge .

Also, the first two steps in the tutorial are probably already done if you just installed the game recently.
Check it anyway, but no need to get confused if it already says "Distro=MILIN"
