This guide is dedicated to pack of modifications for your favorite game. This build of mods are carries a lot of restored things from the PS2 and Xbox (Original) version which were lost at the PC port and also contains several fixes for the game.

About


What is Updated Classic?
Updated Classic is a big modpack that restores a lot features from PS2 and Xbox (original) versions, combines it with PC and gives a lot of improvements and fixes (that won't destroy original atmosphere), even exclusive ones so you won't find them anywhere else (if it hasn't been stolen). And we're working hard on it, spending hours, days and even months to fix some issues that can be already present in the games or can be caused by mods. And we're working a few years on this already.

Differences from the PC version

Changes from PS2 version:
  • Co-op, with all original modes (Free roam, Rampages).
  • Some special objects from PS2 & Xbox versions.
  • Script differences.
  • Setting the weather and the atmosphere.
  • Radar icons.
  • Radio stations icons.
  • Grass.
  • Parked cars.
  • Objects, models and textures which different on PC version.
  • Text on the walls in the Ammu-Nations.
  • Vehicles.
  • Text files.
  • Some effects.
  • Reflections on the vehicles.
  • Unused Pay'n'Spray in Las Venturas (Fixed).
  • Markers.
  • Loadscreens without compression.
  • Art with Gant bridge in game menu.
  • Destroyable statues in atrium.



Fixes:
  • Enemy groups are now hitting your car in free mode.
  • Fully working Hot Coffee mod. (It is activated and deactivated by the cheat code "HOTCOFFEE").
  • The game allocated more memory, which fixed the problem with the disappearance of textures.
  • Pedestrians now do not disappear when you point camera at them.
  • The noise with rain have been removed.
  • Fixed "black roads" bug.
  • Now when you use Alt + Tab, the game is not paused. (This fixed the problem with textures on the whole screen in the interiors).
  • When an airplane exploded (when a player was inside), it no longer disappears.
  • The "secret" Pay'n'Spray in Las Venturas has been restored and fixed.
  • In the desert now appears the sheriff of the desert (in the original was the sheriff of the countryside).
  • "Red Rain" has been fixed.
  • Various fixes on the map (including interiors).
  • Fixed the "black side" of palms and trees.
  • Now you have access to the San Fierro police department.
  • On the mission "Life's a beach" to get a van, you now need to score 4000 points, as on PS2 (2500 on PC).
  • In the first cutscene, the train is now are moving with the correct speed, as on the PS2.
  • The siren in the mission "Black Project" was restored from the PS2.
  • Fixed a problem with anti-aliasing and reflections in mirrors.
  • The game now has a windowed mode.
  • The night sky has been corrected.
  • The light from the headlights was fixed.
  • Various transport fixes. (Exclusive version)
  • A double pair of wheels at the trucks.
  • Parachute animations was restored.
  • The mouse now works correctly.
  • The mouse no longer goes beyond the screen, which allows you to play on multiple monitors.
  • The sensitivity of the vertical axis of the mouse now corresponds to the sensitivity along the horizontal axis.
  • More accurate counting of frames per second. Now frame limit is 30 (in default - 25, 26 in Steam).
  • Fixed reflections on wet roads.
  • All text now has correct shadows (depending on the selected resolution).
  • In the folder "ReadMe" you can find manuals for the game.
  • Added mip-map levels for all game textures.
  • Added full support for gamepads.
  • The interface now has the correct size relative to the screen resolution.
  • Various script fixes.
  • The NUM5 key works correctly (as in 1.01).
  • Now, if the game does not have a configuration file, then the resolution in the game will default to the resolution of your computer's screen (instead of the standard 800x600).
  • DirectPlay is no longer required for the game.
  • The size of the subtitles and radio stations is reduced, as in the Steam version.
  • Fixed glare of the sun.
  • Fixed a bug due to which melee weapon spawned by cheat code was replaced by another weapon when entering the marker.
  • Rotors of helicopters and airplanes now work correctly.
  • Hunter's interior no longer disappears when you look at it through the glass.
  • Lighting on objects no longer changes when changing weapons.
  • Fixed a bug with the disappearing weapon icon on the jetpack.
  • Blown up cars no longer shine.
  • Fixed a problem with dirty vehicles. Now you can dirty and clean your cars in Pay'n'Spray (as in 1.01).
  • The moon now has several phases (depending on the day of the week), as on the PS2.
  • Fixed lighting of objects.
  • User Tracks now support the FLAC format. (Only 8/16/24 bit, Mono / Stereo and up to 48 Khz).
  • Temple and Queens are now properly reported by the police.
  • Fixed a problem with the gym, when you forever could not use it.
  • Fixed dumbbells in gyms.
  • Saving in the Madd Dogg's house no longer causes a problem with the basketball.
  • Cheat code for floating vehicles from PS2 (Activation/deactivation - "SEAROADER").
  • Cops textures in "Reuniting The Families" and Quarry missions have been fixed.
  • All music on the radio is present, unlike the standard Steam version.
  • Fixed facial animations.
  • Cut art in main menu was restored.
  • Trains now have a glow effect from the headlights.
  • The tram now has a dynamic change of sign (depends of area).
  • Ryder's number 9 in the "Drive-thru" mission now has the correct textures.
  • Fixed a problem with the aero on Windows 7.
  • Fixed a problem with long characters hands, when using skin mods.
  • Fixed problems with the radar render.
  • Improved smoke effects from car exhaust pipes.
  • (Exclusive) Fixed wheelchair.
  • Fixed Micro Uzi & (Exclusive) M4 models.
  • All in-game models of story characters has improved.
  • (Exclusive) Improved all billboards.
  • (Exclusive) In mission 'End Of The Line' all bosses now have a correct weapons.
  • Added HD icon of the game (can be found in data/Icons folder).
  • (Exclusive) Fixed casino guard in 'Key To Her Heart' mission.
  • Fixed Big Smoke statue in Crack Palace.
  • Many animations was fixed.
  • (Exclusive) Added radar icons for gym on Verona Beach, The Well Stacked Pizza Co. in Montgomery, barber shop in El Quebrados and Pay'n'Spray in Royal Casino.
  • Radars in airports are now animated (like in GTA VC).
  • (Exclusive) Hydra pilots replaced with soldiers in 'N.O.E.' mission.
  • Game now can use up to 4 GB RAM.
  • Weather's colors now change every hour (like GTA III & VC) instead of every 8 hours.
  • The amount of money that drops from a prostitute after interacting with her, now depends on how much money the player spent.
  • Rancher now have a correct model with black windows in 'Lure' mission.
  • Phoenix now have an animated engine.
  • Newsvan now have an animated antenna.
  • Fixed taxi lights. Now lights active only when taxi is free.
  • Fixed taxi lights in 'Taxi Driver' mini-mission.
  • (Exclusive) Now taxi driver uses a correct model in 'Snail Tail' mission.
  • Improved Mission Packs loading. And now limit of Mission Packs is 10.
  • Restored unused paintings in The Johnson's House.
  • Fixed some shoes.
  • (Exclusive) Fixed Leviathan color in police radio.
  • (Exclusive) Big textures research. Many textures was replaced with their better analogs (not HD).
  • Text fixes.
  • Many models fixed.
  • Fixed aiming movement with high FPS. (But it's still a problem thing)

NOTE: Updated Classic DOESN'T require original game or Steam. You can install a build and play Updated Classic without Steam.

We are marks versions of this pack, so that is easier to navigate with the freshness of the versions. Right now, Build 37 is available for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Install:
Note: Build works perfectly without Steam. But, if you want to play it through Steam, then follow the instructions below.

So, you downloaded the archive and don't know what to do next.
1. Remove the Steam Version:
First, you need to remove all files from the original Steam version of the game. To do this, click on the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with the right mouse button in your Steam library and select Properties > Local Files> > Browse Local Files.... After this action you will have opened the folder with the game files. Just delete them all.
2. Installing Normal Version of the game:
Now everything is simple. All you have to do is unpack UC GTA San Andreas Build 37 archive, take all the files from it's root directory and move it to your steam-version folder (which must be empty). When you move (or copy) all these files, you'll be ready to play.
3. Install all necessary components for the game from the folder ReadMe/Prerequisites.
This is require for correct work of the game and mods. You may think, that it's not really necessary installing these libraries, but it can give a guarantee, that you won't see an error like "Can't find file.dll". We truly recommend to install it because it's useful not only for this build, but for any other games.

NOTE: If you want to install the build without downloading the Steam version of the game, you can simply use the .acf file from the archive below, which is responsible for having the installed game on Steam.

Pre-launch

Recommendations before start the game:

1. Turn on Frame Limiter in game display settings.
This is necessary for the game to work correctly. Since the game was not designed for high FPS, all sorts of problems appear because of it: some missions do not load, physics breaks.
Rockstar's official ReadMe also contains this recommendation.

2. Make sure, that you have installed all necessary components for the game.
If you're not sure about this, you certainly need to visit Readme/Prerequisites and install:
  • 1. DirectX Pack - ReadMe/Prerequisites/Direct X/DXSETUP.exe
  • 2. Runtime Pack - ReadMe/Prerequisites/Runtime Pack/RuntimePack_x86_x64.exe
  • 3. Visual C++ Redistributable Hybrid
    For x32 systems - ReadMe/Prerequisites/Visual C++ Redistributable Hybrid/x32/VCRHyb86.exe
    For x64 systems - ReadMe/Prerequisites/Visual C++ Redistributable Hybrid/x64/VCRHyb64.exe

3. Set the value of anisotropic filtering in the settings of your video card to the maximum value available.
This is to make the textures look as good as possible. Without anisotropic filtering, textures (mostly roads) will be blurry at close range.

4. Make sure to have "x32" at the end of your chosen screen resolution (in the game).
If the values have been changed, you need to restart the game.
This is necessary for correct display of colors. At "x16" you will see green smoke, green water etc.

Addons


In this section I suggest some interesting addons for your favorite game. By the standard in the build they are not included, so everything to your choice.

1) HD Interface.
This add-on is improved interface textures. A better font and icons, without a strong loss of style.
Install:
1. Download archive [VC & SA] HD Interfaces.rar (Size: 109 MB) from same link below.
2. Copy the content from a folder [VC & SA] HD Interfaces/GTA San Andreas/put in game folder from archive and put it in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

2) No Money Zeros.
This addon removes zeros in the display of the player's money. Now (for example) when you have $350, you will see in the interface "$350", instead of "$00000350".
Install:
1. Download archive [VC & SA] No Money Zeros.rar (Size: 11 KB) from same link below.
2. Copy the content from a folder [VC & SA] No Money Zeros/GTA San Andreas/put in game folder from archive and put it in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Frequently Asked Questions


In this section, you may be able to find answers to some questions related to the build (the list will be updated).

Q: Can I install third-party modifications to the build?
A: Yes, but please note that this can cause various technical problems/issues and you will lose our support.

Q: Which Windows version are supported?
A: Windows 7 SP1, 8 & 10.

Q: The game is very laggy.
1. Delete file Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/scripts/scrlog.asi.
WARNING! If you'll complete this step - there will be problems with support!
2. Open file Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/scripts/Mix Sets.ini and change the value of Anisotropic parameter to 2, 4 or 8.
3. Open file Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/scripts/skygfx.ini and change the value of radiosity parameter to PS2.

Q: Will there be San Andreas Multiplayer, Multi Theft Auto or GTA Connected support?
A: No.

Q: Intro movies not works.
A: Update codecs. If after this you'll have only sound, try compatibility with some operation systems.

Q: How to active a Windowed mode?
A: In Advanced Display Settings (in game) in resolultion find a windowed value.
Or
Put file ReadMe/Windowed Mode/III.VC.SA.WindowedMode.asi to scripts and you will have bordersless windowed mode.

Q: How can I activate the tool tips with the PS2 gamepad buttons?
A: In the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/scripts/GInputSA.ini file, set the PlayStationButtons parameter to 1.

Q: When I try to extract files from the archive, I got an error: Can not open file or Archive corrupted.
A: Update your archiver or use another.

Q: After installing build, my saves made on Steam-versions stopped working.
A: A Guide to Converting Saves:
1. Go to gtasnp com and upload your save file there (located in My Documents/GTA San Andreas User Files/GTASAsf1.b - where the digit 1 in the file name indicates the slot number).
2. After uploading the file to the site, expand the Modifications section.
3. Change the value of Binary/EXE Version to unmodified.
4. Change the value of Script/SCM Version to v1.
5. Below choose one of the eight slots in which you want to save your file and put it back in My Documents/GTA San Andreas User Files.

Q: I like to remove dynamic shadows but don't want to lose other effects.
A: Open the file Grand Theft Auto/San Andreas/scripts/skygfx.ini, then set the parameters pedShadows and stencilShadows to 0.

A: 1. In properties of gta-sa.exe go to Compatibility, select Change high DPI settings and turn ON following parameters:

2. In the file Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/scripts/GTASA.WidescreenFix.ini in the parameters ResX and ResY set the resolution values of your monitor.
Example:
ResX = 1920 ResY = 1080
3. nstall DirectPlay.
4. Delete file My Documents/GTA San Andreas User Files/gta_sa.set.
5. Set compatibility with Windows XP or Windows 7.

A: Make sure that your anti-virus didn't delete any game files. Add a game folder to exceptions and reinstall build.

Q: The game crashes in San Fierro docks near Import/Export ship.
A: Your savegame file has been corrupted by extremely unlikely bug when blackboard with vehicles list for Import/Export has disappeared. Install this script into Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/cleo folder, overwrite your savegame file and remove this script.
Install this script ONLY if you have a crash in San Fierro docks!

I don't know why this mod isnt in the modpack. This should go to the addons section, as not everyone has the same controller.
